i bought this specifically for a trip. the camera is easy to use,great screen size to see what you are recording. the zoom is great. it's charge and go. i installed the software on a sony computer-the images are ok,maybe not as sharp as i would have thought.i was disappointed to find out that it is not compatable with a MAC. the sound and still pictures are ok as well, but this camera does not do well in low light conditions. If you want a small camera that travels easily and holds a lot of images, this is a definite recommendation.Overall, I like it, it's fun and easy to use and adequate for most people's needs in a digital recorder.

Major Cons- NONE Minor Cons- The lens cover-protector should be automatic instead of manual. No viewfinder; can only view with the LCD open. There were 4 major concerns before I bought this camera. 1. Big Hands; the camera is hard to hold or grip thereby making zooming in-n-out difficult. 2. Playback on Plasma or Big Screen; looks horrible. 3. Videos transferred to your computer HD look terrible when you play them back. 4. Lighting issues: users discovered a blue haze or grainy picture when playing back the video. RESPONSE: 1. I have VERY big hands and for some reason the tightness of the strap helps me to control the zoom in-out with consistent speed, accuracy, and smoothness. 2. Playback from the CAM to my LCD looks great! 3. Once transferred, video playback looks awesome on my computer; near HD! I was totally shocked with the quality! 4. I filmed in AUTO, in all kinds of light or dark conditions and ALL the videos look just fine to me! No blue haze or grain. Very Clear! If you get a camera that has any issues or problems, return it (obviously) and try another one. Don't beat yourself up complaining about it, life is too short!

Updated our camcorder this March. Simple to use. record button, stop/pause button. Size is great. Even my sister used it for an event we were in. She had no problems. She figured everything out just by looking at it. Very easy to download on DVD. Picture/sound is great. Negative - no charger for the battery - you need to charge on camcorder, so have extra ready. $$ of accessories and auto stab could be a bit better. Put zoom button near screen for easy access would be better. Buy the carrying bag. It's compact as well. The camcorder and battery fit nicely. Even the 7 hr battery fits but snug. If you buy the 7 hr battery, get the next size bag.

I love the fact that this camera is so small and light so it fits anywhere. The sound quality is really good too. I just wish the video quality was better in low to little light. I shot an outdoor concert where the only lights were neon signs and a backlight and the quality was not good. It was grainy and you couldn't even see the people too well. It has a lot of features so you have to be careful when setting up the camera. I wish there was a way to save settings so that you could turn on the camera set the settings then open it up in 10-15 minutes and it still have all of the same settings you just programed.

What's not to love about this camcorder? It is very easy to set up and use. The touch screen is simple to navigate through and downloading videos is just as easy:) This camera is ready to use and literally you just had to charge the battery. I am just using this camera for home videos of the kids and family and it is a perfect camera for this purpose. It is light and easy to tote around on trips and small to handle fitting in your hand. This may not be a camera for someone that is doing high quality video projects, but for the person who wants an easy to use camera for their family videos-this is perfect!!!! The pictue and sound quality are great and again it is very easy to use and the price was not bad either!!!

Bought this Camcorder on a Friday afternoon, really didn't have any time to work with it and took it to my son's wrestling meet the next morning. I was able to shoot a couple hours of video without even reading the directions. I also took some pictures, they came out great. At one point, we were sitting up in the bleachers pretty high, I was able to zoom in super close. Uploading when I got home to our laptop was a breeze and the touch screen functions are great. Need to get a spare battery or a higher capacity battery.Very happy with purchase.

I love what I got for the price. Good picture/video quality, screen size and ease of operation. Perfect camera for home use. Even kids can use it.

Sony is no stranger to making quality camcorders, and this one is no exception. The picture quality is superb for a non-HD camera; downloading video to computers is a breeze and the zoom lense reach is amazing. The one downside to this camera is the tiny touch screen that's not very responsive to average size hands. Actually controls on the interior panel probably would've been sufficient, since the touch screen sensitivity leaves much to be desired. Overall, a good, low-priced camera with excellent picture and sound quality.

I bought this for my daughter to film my grandbaby. I told my daughter to make sure she was pleased with the picture quality and let me know if there were any problems. Soon she told me the picture quality was fine, I asked her if she was pleased with the camcorder, and she told me she loved using it. She remarked that she was especially pleased with the size and ease of use. I especially liked the size of the hard drive, I can't wait to see all the videos she will make.

This camcorder is easy to set up and use. I was only concerned about the touch screen, but There are no complaints... The screen is very responsive and accurate(everything you touch it picks up). Glad I saw this online ahead of time... I almost purchased a 60 GB HDD camcorder in the store for the same price! I fell like I got 20 free GB of space!

The price was right at $299.99 and has excellent features on it. Plenty of storage with an 80gb hard drive and room for a memory card. Good zoom, and not bad in low light.

I love this camera! I needed replacement to my old Sony 8mm camcorder. So I looked around and waited for the right one to come out. When I found out this was coming out I researched it and fell in love with it. It's perfect for what I want it for. Even though the format is different than what I am used to I think I will get along just fine with it. It's actually better than 8mm tapes. The color looks good and so does the sounds. It's an all around perfect camcorder. The lens is amazing. Has a great zoom! Anyway if you want something that's not too cheap and not too expensive and a camcorder that will serve your basic needs and maybe a little beyond (I plan on shooting a little short movie with mine) than this is the perfect camera for you. It comes in 3 colors. Blue, Red and Silver. I got the silver which is what I wanted. The only issue I have as far as I can tell would be that the screen gets finger prints on it very easily due to it being a touch screen, but if you get one of those screen protectors you should be fine. I love my Sony SR68!!

Great basic camera w/o all the bells and whistles and it has a light that others in the class don't seem to have. I didn't want a camera to do everything including wash the dishes - I just wanted a camera to film video...plain & simple. I knew I wouldn't use all the features I'd have to pay for in other cameras. So, this one is pretty much exactly what I wanted! I received it as a Christmas present, so haven't used it all that much, but from what I have used it for it was easy! I'm happy!

a family member had the 60 gb earlier model and set up on that thing was difficult and confusing and i had to read the manual twice. so i was apprehensive about buying a sony. plus sony only used their memory stick duo and no one else's. but once when i found out that it took both sdhc and pro dou i was hooked. but cmon 80 gb s i dont think ill need another memory stick just an external hard drive. i love it. very very simple to use. only complaint is battery life but its a small compact camcorder so i guess you sacrifice. picture quality is awesome. and when watchig through the flat screen it really looked like it was an hd camera.

Overall I like the camera. I love any Sony product I have ever used. It has a good picture and I really like the screen. The only complaint I have is the menu is a little complicated. If I had it to do over again I would probably still make the purchase.

I really like the quality of the video. It is easy to use and the zoom features are awesome, the only issue is that the still shot photo option blurs with little movement.

I purchased this camcorder with the intent of taping my daughters gymnastics meets. I was drawn to it because of the price, hard drive and the 60x optical zoom. It is small and has great features. It is also very easy to operate. I taped her at a practice and then put the video on my computer to view - which has a much smaller screen than my tv - and I was very disappointed in the picture quality. It was very grainy around the edges. I took it back to Best Buy the next day and got the HD version of the Sony camcorder that also has a hard drive. I loved how easy the Sony was to operate but just wanted some more clarity in the picture. Love the HD version. Great picture quality and worth the additional dollars to upgrade. If you dont need a super clear picture, then this camcorder is ok. But if you want a little better quality, I recommend upgrading to the HDR-XR150.

I am happy with my Sony Handicam. It performs well, was easy to understand User Manual. Be sure to purchase an additional battery as backup, as supplied battery does not last long.

We bought this camcorder because the size was very comfortable for us. It wasn't too small or large and we felt comfortable handling the unit. We really didn't have time to experience much. We bought this because how nice is it to just have the amount of storage rather than constantly doing back-ups. Don't be fooled. I'm sorry I went through the hassle of finding out the hard way just how bad the resolution of this camcorder is. I took a couple short movies just to test it, changing settings throughout, only to find that no matter if I connected this to my computer, older TV, my 52" LCD....none seemed to help make the picture look at least halfway decent. There's no way I could justify spending this much on something to have such a hard time recognizing things I filmed. This camcorder does have some very nice features which in no way, cover up the fact the movies you have to watch as you grow old are going to be worse than my fathers old suitcase sized VHS camcorder. Those pictures were clearer than what this produced. We are due with our first child in July and it made us sick thinking that our childs early years would possibly be unrecognizable later on down the road.
