Subwoofer Bluetooth Connection Issues

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this sound bar/subwoofer system 8 months ago and the bluetooth to the subwoofer frequently disconnects causing the sound to go in and out. Sound is great when it actually works but it's very inconsistent. Brought the system back into BestBuy to have it serviced and after three weeks they got it back to us saying they replaced a part that should fix the connection issues. Less than a week later we noticed it doing it again. Very disappointed in the product. Would not recommend. We'll bring it back to Bestbuy again and hope that we're not required to send it out a second time. I'd rather buy a different system.

We are really sorry you are encountering some connection issues between the soundbar and subwoofer causing the sound to cut in and out. It's unfortunate to know you consider returning the unit. This is usually not the case and the experience we wanted you to have. There are some things we’d like for you to try and see if we can resolve your audio cut-off. To isolate and hopefully resolve this issue, make sure your unit runs the latest firmware by performing a software update. The updates include key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.

You may unplug them and plug them back again. Please ensure that any Wi-Fi router or modem is placed away from your audio as they may cause interference with the operation of your soundbar and speakers.

Better than Average - good but not great

I think others might be interested in what I observed. 1) it is a nice sounding and nice looking soundbar that needs the sub to have a nice full sound (as opposed to my ZVOX). 2) originally wanted to run multiple sound sources to the bar and use it to relay to the TV, but decided to run all sources to TV and then from TV to bar eArc. This sounded nice and provided nice functionality with my samsung TV. Also wanted to be able to watch sports with no sound a listen to music via Blutooth. According to sony manufacturer rep who answers questions, this cannot be done. That is not true, you can switch a HDMI setting in the 4 layer deep menu and accomplish this. But that is pain. the only way to get the sound back was to redo the menu option to default, power the bar off and then back on. Instead, I ran an optical cable from TV to soundbar and eliminated the EARC HDMI link and it works as we wanted. The problem - this loses the "atmos" capabilities. If there is an HDMI link from your TV to your sound bar, you will not be able to use the bar BT while watching something on the TV. All in all - like with most sony products, build quality is good and sound is better than average.

Decent Dolby Atmos Experience

Sound quality is good, not amazing, but for $400 (sale price) you get a pretty good Dolby Atmos (and several other Dolby formats) experience. Includes eARC which is a great feature and it’s surprising to find that it’s one of the few soundbars to have it in this price range. Subwoofer is wireless so all you need is a power source nearby to plug in. I’ve had no issues with the subwoofer disconnecting like I’ve read about in some lower priced alternative brands. At least SONY can get that right! There is a voice control option and you should be able to use Alexa or Google thru it while it is connected to a smart TV. A couple flaws, which are: no wifi connection; bass volume control doesn’t go very loud, but it’s not like it’s bad either; no up-firing speakers on the soundbar, so you don’t get a “true” Atmos experience with the vertical sounds. Subwoofer looks good and is good but not great. The build quality is all excellent and it was extremely simple to set up. For the price it is a good all around package and you’d need to spend double the money to get the next level of Dolby Atmos in a soundbar system. I’d definitely recommend this soundbar for the sale price of $399 or lower but at the regular price of $599 I might look for something else.

Amazing home theater setup

I have it set up in the livingroom and it has changed movie nights for us since. When using it in cinema mode (dolby) it sounds just like when we go to amc. The music, bangin. Turn on youtube or spotify and it gets poppin no need for a dj when you turn it up and add the bass. All in all very satisfied with this product and recommend it.

Standard Mode - This will allow you to hear the sound of a TV program clearly.
Cinema - This mode is suitable for watching movies. You feel immersed by the sound that travels behind you and surrounds your entire body
Music - Vividness, and glossiness of the sound are expressed in detail. This mode is suitable for enjoying music in a way that moves you
You can also use AUTO SOUND mode which will change the Sound Mode from Standard, Cinema, and Music based on the content played.

And also, check if night mode is disabled. Night mode function outputs the sound at low volume with minimum loss of fidelity and clarity of dialogue. Press the NIGHT button on the supplied remote to set the function on or off. Hope this helps!

Great sound and much better than my old Polk. Voice enhancement works well ,subwoofer is powerful and remote is easy to use. Much better than the Samsung I paid twice as much for and returned due to being defective. Good value for the money but don’t lose the owner’s manual.
