I installed this in a boat, along with some Polk Audio waterproof speakers. The sound is phenomenal even at ear shattering volume! The Sony unit has way more features than I need or will use, but the basic controls I frequent are not buried under layers of complicated instructions. They are simple and “out front” so that I don’t have to consult the users manual every time I turn it on! That’s a plus in my book!

Christmas present for my 16 year old and his beater vehicle. No problems with Bluetooth and even comes with a tiny mic for handsfree. Best Buy installed it and looks flawless. Kid loves it and it's on par with previous Sony in-dash units I've had. Quality, price and features make it worth the slightly sub $100 price tag.

I got this to replace a previous Sony unit that crapped out on me. The Sony model that quit working (MEX5100BT), which only lasted for a year, and this new one were close enough to each other that I could use the existing plug in. I may have caused the short lifespan of the 5100 unit. (If you only have two speakers, DO NOT hook up front and rear wires coming from radio to one speaker- back of the unit got super hot before I found out about this.) This radio is installed in a Case 9370 tractor, so perhaps dust got in there also. If it weren't for the fact that I just wanted to swap out the radio and not rewire the plug in, I might have went to another brand.

I spoke with an installer at Best Buy to some length after buying and returning this unit. From his perspective, most of the top brands (Sony, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer) are virtually identical in quality of music output. I returned this because I thought the quality was too low when using an MP3 player. Truth was that MP3 and AAC files are significantly lower in reproducing music quality compared to a CD, If I had known this, I would have kept it, particularly after replacing it with a JVC KD-R880T. I found the menu navigation far more intuitive and easier with the Sony. More importantly, the BT on the Sony worked flawlessly on two of my devices (both older) with no need to reconnect each time I took a trip. The JVC BT function was impossible. More on that in a separate review. I will likely go back to the Sony.

This unit has far better sound than the stereo that came in my car. I expected better, but am pleased with just how much more detail I can hear. I'm still using the stock speakers, so I realize I'm not getting the best out of the Sony. Bluetooth paired quickly with no problems. I mostly listen to audiobooks on an iPhone SE & occasionally crank up music from CDs. The AUX input lets me plug in a SanDisk MP3 player as well. At first, I thought the display was busy & that I might have trouble with all the options crammed onto the faceplate. But familiarity with use took care of those concerns. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for an upgrade from the stock player.

The installation was quick and very professional-looking (and free with this particular stereo). As with any new piece of electronic equipment, there is a good learning curve (exacerbated by my not driving this car much, so I don't get much chance to practice using and learning about the controls -- I've not even had a chance to try to link my cellphone to the unit using Bluetooth yet). There is no doubt that one good day spent in the car will allow me to utilize the unit's many features, although I probably will never need many of them. One does get a lot for one's money nowadays when it comes to car stereos.

The Sony stereo links to my iPhone 7 via bluetooth so I can play music and make hands free calls very easily. However, when receiving a phone call the unit does not allow for the call to come through the vehicle speakers when the receive call button on the stereo is pressed...I have to fumble-f**k around and hit a few buttons on my phone for that to occur. I have not been able to find a fix for the issue through Sony eSupport at this time.

We bought this for our 5th wheel camper. I had to cut a 1/4" plywood to fit the device into the larger "hole" for the previous radio. This unit was easier to wire than I expected. We use primarily the radio but also the CD player and will add the USB memory in the future. It has been an excellent purchase.

Great headunit for the price point. I purchased this unit primarily for the 10band EQ to fine tune Bluetooth music sound. Most sound files are so compressed that the natural sound is lost.
Most headinits have a 3band eq which works.
This unit is easy to use connectivity with nfc and Bluetooth is seamless.

This is one excellent CD player! I got it for the Bluetooth capabilities, not realizing that you could also make and receive calls with it as well! The calls are very clear on both ends, doesn't sound like speaker phone on the other end. The CD player works great, and the radio function does as well. The only complaint I have is the Bluetooth for two devices. It won't switch easily from one device to the other without turning your Bluetooth, on your phone, on and off a few times. But it works great when you can get it to. Great reception with the Bluetooth. I saw reviews where people complained that they couldn't get the clock function to show and how hard it was to switch to radio or CD player. I found all functions very easy to find and/or display within a few minutes of playing with the buttons. The other reviewers obviously are impatient or perhaps didn't read the instructions? I love my new stereo/ CD player! I highly recommend this to anyone!

I have owned this line of stereos before, and this is an update from a stereo I bought about 5 years ago. It's outstanding. Sound is great, adding bluetooth phone and audio capability to an older vehicle is outstanding, Everything is great!

We are very pleased with this Sony unit. My motivation was buying the Sony for the USB port that I use for music. However, it has an incredible number of features for a very good price. It has exceeded my expectations.
