On Hour Out Of Box Impressions

Packaging: Is fairly eco-friendly, with minimal unnecessary plastics. Can be broken down for recycling with paper products. Dongle: The USB dongle is needed for both PC and PS5. I had assumed you wouldn't need the dongle on PS5 because it would handle transmission via Bluetooth, but I'm assuming they could get better audio quality/bandwidth with the dongle vs Bluetooth. So you will need to dongle it up. On the plus side, the end of the dongle glows with a little white circle which is kind of cool. Have I said dongle enough yet? If not... dongle. I have not tested the microphone. I do not have any friends. Nobody's fault but my own. Aesthetically, these seem similar to the Sony XM5s. The headband seems thicker with more cushion, based on screenshots. I don't have the XM5s because my XM4s are like 7 months old and I don't want to dive in for the incremental upgrades. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) fits in with the Sony gold standard, though it does drop your wireless time from 32 or whatever to 20 hours (I obviously haven't tested the real world times yet). If you don't have a noisy environment, you can leave ANC disabled, as these are closed back cans and in my quick tests don't bleed in a ton of external audio. In a comparison with the also recently purchased Arctis Nova Pro set, I find these a little more comfortable, and while the Arctis has very precise audio, the Sony set feels both precise, and more robust. Tested for audio positioning on Returnal and general good times on Hollow Knight. I'd rank the Sony on top on both. If you were looking for the best set for Hi-Res audio... don't be fooled, you want all different headphones and equipment. Don't get suckered into crossover tech. The one and only complaint of any sincerity I would have with this set is they are BIG. Understand in my 'for comparison' photos, the banana is LARGE. I feel like I should be standing there flagging in aircraft for a safe landing when wearing these. That said, these are, again, a pretty light headset. So you do not need to learn semaphore signaling to don this gear. So yeah, unless the audio quality on the mic turns out to suck pretty bad, these are the best you can get for PS5 at the moment, and probably at least a tie for PC.

I will list the pros and cons. Pros: When connected to my PS5 they work seamlessly and automatically display the headphones once connected. It has a selector switch to for PS5/PS4 and PC. When gaming, it feels like you’re there and the sound is coming directly at you. I play a lot of Call Of Duty and these headphones do help with footsteps. When used on PC they work great and the mic is great as well. The mic also swivels up and down. Once swiveled up it is muted. Once swiveled down it is unmuted. The audio is great and they also have ANC (Active Noise Cancelling). The noise cancelling works great and the audio is excellent. The battery life is great and you can also use them while they charge which helps out alot. I’ve used them all day without charging or turning them off and then come back to use them and they’d still be working with no problems. Cons: There is not an alert or any caution that notifies you that the headphones need to be charged or when it reaches 100%. So unless you plug them in and wait to charge them for a while you won’t know. There also isn’t a way for you to know what percentage the headphones are on unless you get the app for the headphones on PC and install the software for it which makes no sense. Various headsets do this feature and it’s a headscratcher as to why Sony couldn’t or didn’t implement it into these, especially for the price point that these are at. Lastly, the price for these are $299.99 plus tax. I see no reason as to how or why Sony could charge this much and not have the simplest features included in their premium gaming headset. Overall: These headphones sound great, the battery life is great, the mic is great but Sony really missed on these for not adding simple features that come standard on cheaper headsets.

Great Headphones. Software need to be updated

If you are familiar with the Sony WH-1000XM3 - M5, this will be very similar. Noise cancelling is not all great like the Sony signature headphones but it get the job done. Mic is good but ive been using another decidated XLR microphone but fot gaming mic, it will do the job. The software had problems and there are patterns that it does not detect out of the box. My PC has to be fully restarted or shutdown in order to detect the headphones on the software. Don't put it to sleep or hibernate. When using the equalizet its is ok but the sound quality is not great but for a niche for gaming, it is not bad. Spatial audio is somewhat laughable but its fine. In summary, the headphones are not bad but they are mostly $200 instead of $300 headphones

First off it’s super easy to set up with either PS5 or PC with custom preferred sound settings. Sound quality is amazing. It’s comfortable to wear for long gaming sessions. You can use these with your phone or tablet. I use it to talk on the phone since it has amazing mic quality. I also changed the ear pads to a retro 90s theme throwback off white and it pairs well with the white or black color. Once I saw them drop in price I couldn’t snag them fast enough…also with the ambient noise cancellation works very well. If you are on the phone. Or playing on the game and you’re using the mic you can flip the mic up and it automatically mute.

These headpohones are a little unique due to the connection between the headband to the earcups. The button are straightforward on the bottom of the earcups so no real learning curve. I would still read the instructions. Charging is via any phone charger and a modern USB-C jack whic is now more common with Android and Apple products. The software download is easy and the servers don't take forever to install. Updates do take a few minutes but not too long. I find when tweaking the sound via the software fairly easy but it will take a little time to find the right fit. there are sound presets that you want to try out too. The sound quality, as with all sony sound products extremely good for a rpice point of $200. I'm sure there are better but I believe your $200 is well spent. I've only had this unit for about two weeks now and am very pleased with the sound. I play a lot of Modern Warfare 2 and you have hear the faint footsteps as people are trying to sneak up on you. The only perceived negative is that the mic boom only swings up and down. you have to adjust the earcup slightly to move the mic away but this is a very minor neagtive. The product even has noise cancellation too! I will see if the product holds up to use but since I have the yearly Total Tech membership, this gaming headset comes with a much better warranty to exchange or replace if broken due to a manufacturer's defect. Go buy them in my humble opinion.

The box was torn in a few places. But once I opened it up... wow. The headset was completely untouched. No scratches, no wear — looked and felt brand new! Now let’s talk about performance: Designed for Gamers – Spatial sound is super immersive. I can pinpoint footsteps and gunfire direction in competitive games. Active Noise Cancellation – Works shockingly well, even for a gaming headset. Blocks out background noise like a champ. You can customize your sound profile using the desktop app available for free on PC. The microphone is extremely loud and picks up your sound almost too well. The build quality is fairly cheap, the foam off the headset is already peeling off almost not even 3-5 months of owning it. Major downside is also the extremely high price

Regarding the microphone being extremely loud, this can sometimes be due to the Sidetone function, which makes it easier to talk on the headphones by playing your voice naturally. Your voice will be heard from the headset through the headset’s boom microphone (Sidetone function). With the endzone heapdphones that was ni longer a problem. The sound is better than the last few sets I used and the noise cancellation, well I can’t hear my girlfriend ms netflix shows playing in the background. Microphone is great but not detachable, which coukd be a good thing if you dealtach and lose them like I use to.

The sound quality is not as good as the Pulse 3D headset also made by Sony. I expected equal or superior sound quality because of the price point. Sony would do well to add sound customization for PS5 players via a software download right onto our consoles. I would like very much to be able to tweak the sound a bit. Today, I noticed that the cushion at the top of the headset came off (see pics). The construction of this headset could be better. I do like the fact that I can connect this headset via Bluetooth to my iPhone and talk on the phone or listen to music and still be able to hear game sound, voice chat and phone convo/music seamlessly. Please Note: while talking on the phone voice chat is automatically muted meaning only the person you’re speaking with on the phone can hear you. The battery life is great! I can play all day (12+ hrs) and if necessary I can charge and play as well. Bottom line: if you have the money to buy or you wanna spoil yourself, I’d recommend these! Happy gaming!

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.They fit really well and look like they are modeled after Sonys xm5, noise cancelling feature is spot on, in addition you can dual sync your playstation 5 and your cell phone to listen to music or pick up phone calls without having to sacrifice one for the other..,......I dont know why they're have been bad microphone reviews on this, its not the sharpest mic. But it works really well like my older gaming bose quietcomfort 35ii did and the mic. On that was highly rated. Hope this helps.

I had an issue with my laptop volume and every one complains when I am in zoom calls. The set up was easy. I didn't need to call IT dept to install software just plug and ready to use. It noise cancellation headphones and blocked outside noise.

But then I thought hey why not get just one for both. Inzone H9 was of course the top choice but I was very hesitant at first due to its price. Now, after having played with it for a couple of hours, all I can say is that it was so worth it! If you can, get it on Black Friday to save a few more bucks!
