There's a reason why Studios use these

As painfully generic as these things look, there is a reason why professionals use these quite often. They're durable, comfortable once you get them broken in and they are great for mixing or even regular listening. Since they've been around for a good while, many many accessories are available and replacement pads are easy to get. Plus replacement parts are readily available. Although, I only really have two complaints. The biggest one being the cable. Yes, these are meant to be studio headphones and basically plugged in at your desk and left there. But having the option to remove and replace the cable with ease should be the default; since coiled cables are not as favorable anymore. But because these headphones have been available for many years, others have tinkered around and easily found ways to remove the cable and replace it with a headphone jack and just make a DIY removable cable. My other complaint involves the original ear pads. The fake leather is super thin and wrinkly and honestly, Sony should know better than to repeatedly sell one of their most well known headphones with the cheapest possible pads. If you happen to be familiar with the Sony MDR-ZX110, the $10 on-ear headphones that you buy as a spare just in case, those earpads share a lot of similarities with the earpads on the 7506. But like I mentioned before, 3rd party pads exist and they can be had for cheap. If you're just starting with sound mixing or podcasting, get these because the professionals use these as well. If you can get them on sale or use coupons to lower the price, even better.

Absolutely love these, very soft padding on the ears, covers the ears well, and noise canceling is fantastic

Excellent sound and comfort for my PC listening needs. Ear muffs isolate ambient sound much more than I expected. Cord is robust and a bit heavy so I recommend not letting it hang unsupported from the PC headphone port. --r

... and they did not disappoint. Quite hefty with a tight fit and the coiled cable helps prevent cable snarl, tangle, and tripping.

Like the sound, but the build quality could be better honestly.

The title says it all. After watching so many Youtube videos with YouTubers saying how "great" these headphones are being around for 3 decades so I gave them a shot. 1) built quality they feel so cheap. I don't think the materials are even worth more than the headphones you can get at a dollar store. 2) sound quality is terrible. Even with an external Dac and Amp you will have a hard time hearing the vocalist. 3) the ear padding makes my ears cause to have paid and soreness. These should be prices like $10 maximum. I did purchase another Sony headphone but the Sony MDR1AM2 which are 3 times the price of these. If you love Sony headphones and want in general a headphone with a good bass which Sony's do stay away from this one. Sony headphones are one of the best headphones and brands in the world but this product just terrible.

I use these for editing videos and listening to the camera output while recording. Great asset to have on a video job.

Can't beat the sound of these for the price

I'm not an audiophile but used to work for a concert center, so clear, full sound is #1 priority. Maybe these wouldn't rate 5 stars from an audio engineer, but I like them better than or as well as the Sony and Bowers & Wilkins wireless headphones I've tried in 2024. And for the difference in prices, no contest. But they're wired (always better sound than wireless, to me).
