Good speaker to add to my bluetooth speaker collection of JBL, Sony, and Bose. This one is now the big boy compared to the others. The App you can download lets you control the EQ and lights, etc. Sound quality is what I expect from Anker - really good, and the lights look cool so I'll leave them on. This won't break the bank so I may purchase more to pair them all together (up to 100) and have a party! It isn't very heavy either but the sound coming out makes it sound like a much bigger speaker. I especially like the BassUp feature and that it's waterproof which leads me to the pros below.
Pros: USB-C charging
Waterproof
BassUp feature/customizable EQ
Speaker Lights
Not heavy
Can charge your phone/accessories in the back
Speakerphone
Price
App is intuitive
Cons: can't think of any

Super happy with. Great bass and loud sound overall. Is waterproof, tested by my preteen. Love the color changing. Have had for a couple years now, still works perfectly.great deal. I think $99 at the time, back in 2022. There’s also a button to turn off the color changing lights if you want.

I was excited to receive the Soundcore Select Pro speaker, mostly because I wanted to see how big or small it was as the picture and description were not clear. The suspense has ended, the speaker is 12 inches wide and about six inches tall at the handle.
Pool and beach weather are soon upon us and if you’re like me, I already have too much to lug across the sand. The Select Pro’s small size and light weight make it the perfect addition and you don't have to worry about it getting wet since it's IPX7 waterproof and it floats!
With a few exceptions, the Select Pro operates just like every other Bluetooth speaker -pair it, download the app to control it and enjoy. nothing new or exciting here. What is exciting though is everything else about this little speaker.
As for the sound, the Select Pro sounds great for its size and has enough volume to fill a yard or pool area. The app has an equalizer with four presets and allows custom settings to adjust the sound to your liking. You can hear the bass but it's not wall shaking. I found the Soundcore Signature setting with Extra Bass to be the most pleasing to me. The custom setting on the app does not allow you to start with one of the presets and make adjustments, you always start with the settings in the middle at zero - not a deal breaker, just a minor inconvenience.
The Select Pro also offers the ability to pair up to 100 speakers together for larger areas or parties. As this feature is becoming more prevalent with speakers, it would be nice if you were able to pair multiple brands as well.
To add atmosphere to your gatherings, the speakers also light up. This is controlled both by the app as well as with a button on the top of the unit. There are four variations to choose from, Beach Party which dances to the music with white “strobes”, Camping trip which is the same as Beach Party but without the white strobes. Evening Breeze and Midnight Groove which just rotate between colors, one fades side to side and the other fades both sides together. My only negative about this is all the modes “flash”. I would like one of them to just fade between the colors smoothly rather than off on off on. Perhaps this can be added with a firmware update.
Another thing with the lights, when you change the volume, the individual sides light up, right for volume up, left for volume down making it easy to see from a distance that the speaker is responding. Finally on lighting, four buttons on the top of the speaker also light up. Power, Lighting, Bluetooth and BassUp. There are also multi-function, volume up & down buttons which are not lit.
LIke many bluetooth speakers, you can answer calls on the Select Pro. Calls sound clear and loud and the party on the other end is able to hear clearly and didn't hear background noise during the call.
Battery life is rated at 16 hours. Charging is through USB C and there is a USB A jack that will provide backup power to your phone as well. Of course, your mileage will vary depending on loudness and lighting use.
I really like the Select Pro. Are there better sounding speakers? Yes. But at this price point, the size, sound and feature set are JUST RIGHT. I would highly recommend this to a friend.

Bluetooth on a Boat or by the Pool

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Soundcore Select Pro is a convenient little Bluetooth boombox. Thanks to the rubberized handle and the waterproof rating - it can truly go anywhere. Anker brags that the speaker floats, but be aware that it does so with the speakers facing down into the water - so, It cannot be heard AT ALL while floating. It’s best to keep it out of the water, but it’s nice to know the speaker will not be lost if it falls into the pool, or gets knocked off of a boat.
The audio quality is good and the volume is sufficient for using outdoors (at a moderate range). The audio sounds slightly hollow and airy, but by adjusting the equalizer (within the app) quality can be improved. The bass boost is impressive indoors, but is understandably lost a bit when outside in a more open and expansive environment.
While the speaker is convenient, I feel as though Anker missed the mark on a lot of finer points. For example, the controls are confusing and without reading the instructions, nobody would know how to change tracks. Some of the buttons are illuminated, but not the buttons that are used most often (play/pause, volume up/down, track change). There is no NFC pairing, no auxiliary input, no radio function, and no internal memory or memory card slot.
For the most basic Bluetooth audio functionality, the speaker is quite good. But without a phone nearby, the speaker becomes useless. The speaker can be linked together in a chain of 100 speakers, but they cannot be paired or grouped in a way to play stereo sound (meaning that you cannot have one speaker play right audio while the other plays left).
If you want to take your Bluetooth speaker near water, this is the speaker for you. But, if you don’t care about taking the speaker on the go, this speaker doesn’t really stand out from the myriad of other Bluetooth speakers available.
CONS:
- No auxiliary input
- No NFC (Near Field Communication Pairing)
- No radio function
- No internal memory
- No memory card slot
- No battery indicator
- Confusing Controls
- Not all buttons are illuminated
- Paired speakers do not function in stereo (all speakers play identical sound)
- Floats with speakers facing down into the water (which means music cannot be heard at all)
PROS:
+ Sufficient Volume for outdoor listening
+ Good audio quality
+ Decent Bass (especially for the compact size of the speaker)
+ Waterproof
+ Floats
+ Equalizer available within App
+ Cool LED light effects
+ Light weight
+ Great battery life
+ Internal battery charges via USB-C Input
+ Can charge other devices via USB-A output
+ Link up to 100 speakers together
+ Rubber feet keep the speaker in place and ensure it doesn’t scratch any surface it may be sitting on
+ Mobile App is not required for use

Fun little party boombox

The Anker SoundCore Select Pro is a waterproof portable Bluetooth speaker that is the latest to join Anker’s SoundCore lineup. The speaker features IPX7 (1 meter submersion depth for 30min), Bluetooth 5.0, 16Hr playback, RGB lightshow, USB C charging, and a USB A phone charging port. I have been using the speaker daily for the last week, so here are my thoughts.
My first impression when unboxing the speaker was it felt like a throwback to my childhood boombox radio. The form factor is dead on – the only thing missing is a fold down extendable antenna. It feels very well built and sturdy. All the lines and edges meet up seamlessly and there doesn’t appear to be any sharp/unfinish edges. The top of the handle is rubberized as well as the two feet on the bottom. I’m not sure how much it weighs, but it feels around 3-4lbs, so not too heavy.
There are 4 illuminated buttons as well as a center unlit button group. The lit buttons are bass boost, Bluetooth sync, power, and lightshow. The center unlit button group contains the volume control as well as a multifunction button between the volume -/+. The multifunction button pauses/plays (1 button push), skips to the next song (2 button presses), and restarts the song (3 button presses). If you get a phone call the you also use the button to answer/hang up. There is a mic onboard, which I think is located behind the grill near the left speaker. On the rear of the speaker is a rubber port cover that fits very snug. Popping it off reveals the USB-C charging port, as well as the PowerIQ charging port. The USB-C port is rated to accept up to 5V-2.1A to charge. I couldn’t find anything to tell me what the PowerIQ port supplies other than the ratings label on the bottom. It lists the output as 5V-1A – so a 5W charger. This is about half the charging rate of my phone charger, so it will charge your phone, but it will proceed a bit slowly. I haven’t found any official battery size, but the Anker forums seem to point to the Select Pro having a 6700mAh battery. So you can charge a normal phone twice off this battery if you really needed to.
The speakers provide 30W of sound production power. The speaker loadout features 2x 2.25” full range drivers and 2x 2.5”(?) passive radiators for bass production. The 2.25” drivers do the heavy lifting and provide the sound spectrum for the speaker. I’m not sure their frequency sensitivity other than the range extends up to 40kHz. The passive radiators are located on either end of the speaker housing and are fairly exposed. There are protective covers attached to the domes of the passive radiators, which does provide a modicum of protection.
The speaker is also IPX7 rated and it floats. I tested this out by tossing it in my sink. I watched it float around while pushing out my playlist. The speaker still functions while submerged as well. One thing that is unfortunate though is the speaker only floats with the speakers face down in the water. So, if you have it floating in the pool with you your music will be heavily muffled by the water. It is very buoyant though, so I have zero fear that it would sink. You also must keep the charging port cover pressed in place – the charging ports are not rated for water.
The Select Pro can be paired to your phone in moments, and if you don’t desire anymore control than that then you are free to play your music. However, if you want a little more control over your speaker you need to download the SoundCore app. I already have a couple Anker SoundCore products, so this wasn’t anything new for me to mess with. Within the app you can adjust the lighting modes, volume, equalizer, and how long until the speaker powers off without a connection. There are 4 preset equalizers, an option for a custom one, and a bass boost toggle. There are also 4 lighting modes to choose from – 2 are dynamic and change with the beat of the music. The other 2 are a fixed rotation of the lighting colors.
Using the speaker is nothing new – pair your phone, and select your music. I played a decent variety of genre’s – pop, classic rock, hip hop, alt rock. I found that music that mostly used punchier bass had the best sound reproduction. Rumbly/heavy bass felt a little flat, and the passive radiators couldn’t keep up. With punchier bass the radiators produced a crisp beat, that kept up with the main drivers. Vocals were nice and clear through the range. At full volumes I didn’t experience any distortion or clipping of the sound. The only time the speaker seemed to struggle was at very low volumes – the speakers just aren’t sensitive enough to nail the clarity at really low volumes. At high volumes the speaker could really push some power. I cranked the volume up and could listen clearly all around my backyard, so it can definitely fill a room with sound.
Also, as is evidenced by the design the speakers fire sound in mainly one direction. A lot of Bluetooth speakers these days feature an omnidirectional positioning of speakers. This lets you set the speaker in the middle of a table, or a group of people and the music sounds good in all directions. The Select Pro is limited here, so you need to have it placed where people aren’t trying to listen from the rear of the unit. However, it does start to overcome this at higher volumes as the sound starts reflecting off surfaces in a room more and more.
I found that this speaker was awesome as a bathroom speaker. It sits perfectly on top of the toilet tank with its back against the wall. Playing music while I’m showering or getting ready. This has been my day to day go to speaker for that purpose. It’s also very stable sitting there whereas there was always some risk with my round pill speaker rolling off.
Overall, the Anker SoundCore Select Pro is a good speaker. It’s 16Hr battery life is middle of the road, but still plenty enough that you aren’t likely to charge it super often. The speakers can keep up with most that you will throw at it, and have no trouble playing it loud. I wish the speaker had a little more bass oomph – likely not possible without one of the passive radiators becoming active and cutting into the battery life. The lightshow keeps it looking fun, and I really like the lights pulsing to the beat. Without the lights on the speaker looks very unassuming. The waterproof rating is great to have, and provides a little peace of mind especially if you plan to use it remotely close to water. The design really is a throwback to my childhood boombox which makes me like it even more. Though its not as portable as some speakers due to its size, it does make up for that by being extremely easy to carry due to the rubberize handle grip.

THE BREAKDOWN:
If your looking for a good Bluetooth speaker that is waterproof and has a great sound then this is the one for you.
This speaker is about 12 inches long and about 6 inches high at the top of the handle. I personally love the fact that this has a handle. It makes it easy to pick up especially in the water.
I found that the sound was very good even at louder levels. The speaker was loud enough to use outdoors at the pool with a fairly large crowd of teenagers. The BassUp button does work as intended. I found that the bass was much more noticeable when the button was depressed.
The speaker comes with LED lights that blink to give a beat driven light show which is pretty neat at night.
Being IPX-7 rated means that this thing can get drenched. The only thing that I found negative about this speaker is that if you do throw it in the pool or even set it gently in the pool it turns over and the speakers point down in the water and you cannot hear the music. I even tried to put the speakers facing up but it just flips over and the speaker go face down into the water. Even after submerging in the pool I placed the speaker back out on the deck and it played normal.
Battery life seemed to last around 15 to 16 hours per full charge. Almost 2 full pool days before needing a charge.
PRO’s:
-Great sound
-Led lights
-IPX-7 rated and waterproof
-Great battery life
CON’s:
-When put in water the speakers face down into the water making the music non audible.
SUMMARY:
Overall, I feel that this product worked very well, and I would recommend this to a friend if they are in the market for device like this.

I have purchased many products from Anker like power conference speakers and battery packs due to the quality products they make and excellent customer support. I have been looking for a cost-effective and quality outdoor speaker with a handle for outdoors and camping and got Anker - Soundcore Select Pro Bluetooth Speaker.
It came with a speaker and USB C charging cable. Setup is pretty straightforward similar to the setup for any Bluetooth speaker. I already had soundcore app in my iPhone and paired the speaker via Bluetooth. There are many configuration changes that can be done via the app for light effects, equalizer with presets, extra bass, customization sliders, settings, firmware update, battery level, volume level adjustment.
The build quality is great which is similar to other products from Anker and it is very lightweight to carry. The sound quality is excellent, and it covers the entire party even in large outdoors. With the touch of a button, bass can be boosted. LEDs are so beautiful and adjusting based on music. With PartyCast feature, it is possible to link 100+ speakers to take outdoor parties to next level. Battery life is great and lasts up to 16 hours of continuous playtime in a single charge. It is an IPX-7 rated speaker with a fully waterproof casing that allows it to float on water and comes with 18 months manufacturer warranty. I am impressed with the overall build, sound quality, long battery life and highly recommend it to everyone looking for a budget-friendly, quality outdoor speaker.

Soundcore Bluetooth speaker is a winner. Just in time for summer pool time. That was my main reason for wanting this speaker. I love that it is waterproof so I don't have to worry about the kid's splashes. I have not had the guts to float it. The seal for the USB charging seems substantial enough to keep water out. (See in my pics)
The impressive part is that you can link up to 99 other speakers together. I don't have two to do this with, but let me just say that this thing can base! I put it in my workout room and had an amazing workout. The lights going cheering me on, the music thumping keeping me motivated. OMGosh if you had even 2 or 3 of these, you'd wake-up the neighborhood for sure. One is impressive.
I downloaded the app and found it to be easy to use and helpful. I made a custom setting that has the voice projecting louder than what the presets offer. Sometimes you want less base, sometimes not. I go back and forth between the options depending on my mood. I put the app on my husband's phone too. That worked, then it kicked him out and sent my phone a request for permission. I used the same login for both phones. Today I tried it again, but first I turned my Bluetooth off. It worked correctly this time. One thing I will say about the app is that it does seem overly invasive privacy wise. I would prefer it requesting less permissions.
Out of the box it took between 1.5 to 2 hours to initially charge. Set up is easy, lights are adjustable within the app as far as programs go and can be turned on and off at the unit or from the app.

The Soundcore Select Pro Bluetooth Speaker is a portable speaker that does not disappoint. It packs a solid punch for its size (~ 12" x 6"), with solid bass and clear mids and highs even at pretty loud volumes. It also has cool multi-color, customizable light rings that makes it a fun centerpiece for hanging out with friends in your yard, by the pool/in the pool or on the beach. It paired with my phone very easily and it maintains the bluetooth connection throughout the house, even on different floors. There are a few buttons and status lights on the rubber covered top of the speaker, such as power, volume, bluetooth, extra bass, light mode control. The battery life is great, charges via the included USB-C cable and it will last for a few days at moderate listening volume (up to 16 hours). You can also use the built-in battery to charge back your phone using the USB-A port.
If you want to take advantage of additional features and adjustments, you will have to install the Soundcore App, which unfortunately requires you to create an account and register with your email. Luckily I already had an account because I also own the bigger, badder Soundcore Rave Neo speaker which links/pairs with up to 99 other Anker speakers. The app offers 4 preset equalizer settings and also a custom mode, see attached screenshots. There are also four flashing light modes. All in all this is a great all around portable speaker that can make a great addition to any indoor or outdoor party or a walk on the beach, as it only weighs just over 3 lbs.

This Anker Bluetooth speaker is an excellent outdoor, take with you to the beach, don't worry about it getting destroyed party with a handle. I've taken this speaker everywhere, poolside, to the lake, and the rest of the time it lives in the barn.
In the box is the speaker and USB-C charging cable. To set up, install the Soundcore app, pair via Bluetooth and you're done. Pairing is easy, and the app has multiple functions - light effects from mild single color to wild multi color, equalizer with presets, extra bass, and customization sliders, and settings (see photos). This speaker is also advertised as linkable up to 100 total speakers, and while I haven't tried it, I imagine that would make for an impressive sound / light experience.
The build is outstanding, the speaker is substantial enough that I don't worry about dropping it or damaging it when I strap it to a backpack or toss it in with other gear to go to the lake. Surprisingly it is light weight (~5 lbs) enough that its not cumbersome to pack on a hike. The handle is sturdy, with a rubber style grip across the top. The controls are button style across the top of the speaker, with options for bass, Bluetooth pairing, volume control, power, and lights.
Sound quality wise, it was built to party, so you will get volume, bass, and some depth for an above average sound that fills up a large space. I can easily hear it while working around the barn, and even at max volume I don't hear the distortion you get with some speakers. The included light show is nice for evenings, but you can turn off the feature if you would prefer your speakers to be heard not seen. Lastly, and my favorite feature, this thing is waterproof. No joke, after a day at the barn its covered with dirt and dust, so I take the hose to it, spray it down, shake the water off its good as new.
If you're looking for something to throw in with your sports gear, take on the boat, or otherwise hang out somewhere outdoors, this is a winner.

This product is very surprising. It doesn't look big, but when you turn it on it is has a more powerful bass sound than would be expected for its size.
Pairing was very easy --- just turned my phone Bluetooth on and that's about it. It comes with a power cord for charging as needed, and the battery holds a significant amount of life. I charged mine once in the first week I had it, used it everyday while working outside in my yard, and still haven't needed to recharge it. Plus the mobile handle carrier makes it an easy carry for outdoor walks, hiking, and even a group phone conversation for us. I really have zero complaints about this product (and this rarely happens, haha).

Great sound, battery life seems great so far. Only complaints- 1) no buttons on the speaker to skip or rewind (often easier than doing on your phone), 2) did not include AC charger brick, just USB-C cable; yes we can use any brick, but how do we know its being fed the correct voltage and amps?, and 3) removing the rubber tab that covers the USB-C port (to charge) is a little tough to remove, at least at first. Its good that it'll hopefully keep it safe from water if splashed, but still a bit of a hassle. But overall, big sound and great speaker so far especially for a relatively low price.

Great portable speaker with EXCELLENT battery life. I personally turn the lights off when using the speaker as I am generally outside enjoying the sun so the lights are useless in that scenario.
Audio quality: with Bass boost on the audio is full and clear until it reaches full volume which it then flattens a bit (honestly thats to be expected with how loud it gets). I am no audiophile by any means but I do enjoy high quality sound and this speaker does well for me. This speaker would fall under a personal/ small group speaker and I wouldn't necessarily run a party off of it.
TLDR: Great speaker for the money as long as you are looking for something with slight bass to fill in empty spaces while you are working out, doing outdoor crafts or outside work.
