This is a really cleverly designed product. It is fast and highly controllable. It does however take some practice and getting used to the different settings. The distace this operates is quite amazing. Clever and unique.

Ollie is a fantastic remote control robot/racing toy. The reviews online were all positive, and I got mine at Best Buy. I'm surprised that this is not YET the "in toy" this season. I use mine with Ipad 3, and then got the Ipod 6, and am using it on that. Both devices work excellent, and I have had no issues. I have driven this indoors, outdoors--walking to a local store, I drove it in front of me, and then pulled back on the white dot in the blue circle, and Ollie turned around and headed right back to me. Here are some tips: Hold your Ipad or Ipod in landscape position as this is the way you get both the square "trick pad" (for crazy spin-out tricks) and the circle for driving. If Ollie gets disoriented, adjust the "aim" by pressing the small flashing circle with the black arrows (the aim button); a white triangle will appear along the edge of the blue circle; rotate that white triangle around until the blue Tail light on ollie is facing directly toward you; now press the white circle in the middle of the blue driving circle, and you are good to go. Super easy! Also, touch the little gear icon in the upper right corner, and this will bring you into settings: you can rename Ollie, choose the driving surface, speed etc...Also, the i icon will give you easy to understand information, some of which I have written here. Ollie is pretty durable, and I did fly it down a small flight of four stairs. Note: you can only drive Ollie on one device at a time. Ollie requires no wi-fi; you just turn on the bluetooth as this is how the devices communicate. I recommend the "Ollie" app, and it is a free download in the app store. After turning on bluetooth, you open the Ollie app, and touch it to Ollie. It will say---connecting---and you are good to go. To shut off Ollie, you just close the Ollie app on your device. The Sphero website will tell you which devices work with ollie. I think this would be super fun to play, race, and crash into other Ollies if you had a few folks with a device and an Ollie. Awesome

This is the 3rd robot we have bought from Orbotix and every single one of them is fantastic. Each has their own unique characteristics, Ollie being no exception! Ollie is the easiest to control out of all their robots, able to not only roll incredibly fast outside but be very manageable inside as well. Tricks are easy to perform on most surfaces. Changing the tire treads have a significant impact on how well it will roll. Carpets slow it down so lightly treaded tires work best. Knobby tires are perfect for hardwood or outside. It will get scratched and knicked but it doesn't affect his speed or performance! It's made to be played with and is very hearty. My fiancée and myself now own one of these robots from this company (I personally aquired "Darkside Ollie") and they are worth every dollar. Very highly recommend!!

I bought Ollie, thinking that I would use it for a while then it would most likely set on the shelf, but then I played with it. This little bot is a ton of fun, it works great indoors but is the most fun in a bit parking lot or an area of ground with lots of dirt to drive on. The tricks are fun and learning to steer it takes a bit of work but within the first twenty minutes I had it doing tricks and under control. I am planning on getting the additional tires when they are released for Ollie. Bottom line if you are interested in robots and remote vehicles then this is a fun toy for you to get. There is only one app currently but the macrolabs app will work with Ollie as well as the original sphero and sphero 2.0.

I bought this for my 12 year old grandson for Christmas, but his parents thought it would be better for the 8 year old. No remote control included, must be operated through a smart phone, etc. From what I saw, he seemed to enjoy it, but I could see that it was better suited for outdoor play. It was cold, so we could not try it outside.

What a great product. It is easy to use, loads of fun and keeps you entertained from start up until the battery dies. Buy one. You will not be disappointed.

We bought this as a gift. After downloading the wrong app to my phone, we finally got it up and running. Easy to use and so fast. Took this down the steps from the second floor of our house and it kept going.

Ollie is a super fun little robot although a bit limited when compared to Sphero. The tricks and the speed are truly remarkable for such a simple design. Hours of fun for kids and adults alike.

The new Ollie was a Christmas gift which at first glance does not look very exciting but once it was charged we had a blast! It was fast and fun! tricks and racing against each other ( we bought two) generated hours of entertainment.

A gift for a 12 year old that the entire family plays with. We had to get a second just to have races on home made courses throughout the home and outside. Don't disappoint yourself by just buying one.

Best quality construction, better than anything else purchase not the cheap stuff typically found at the normal toy stores. Easy to set up works with iPhone and iPad, my 11 year old uses his iPad mini and it is great easy to learn and changes colors as a plus battery life has never run out, we do charge often. we have returned almost every other rc type product and not this one well worth the price the black one is the same as the white for more money

This little robot can go pretty fast although, don't expect it to go 0-14 in 2 seconds. It takes time to ramp up to speed causing it to also take just as long to slow down, so be prepared for wall bashing for the first little bit. This is not so much a problem for the toy as much as the walls in your house. Overall a great rc toy for almost any child.

We went to best buy when they were previewing a bunch of these and my son wanted all of them. We decided on this one since they claim it can take falls/tumbles and not fall apart. It has gone down our stairs (on purpose) and so far so good. I just wish that it came with it's own remote instead of having to use a phone or ipad

This is a really cute and fun toy to play with. I got this for my son for Christmas and this thing just took off in the house. He had a blast playing with it and making it do all kinds of twists and turns on the floor. It didn't have a problem going over carpet or hard wood. I just wish it had more things to do with it to hold his interest a little longer. Maybe this spring he can take it outside.

This is fun to play with, but indoors the fun fades quickly as you are constantly having to realign it after it gets "lost" running into things. The best experience is outdoors. You need wide open spaces to enjoy the speed and performance. I purchased on sale, so not as disappointed. Honestly, if I had paid full price I probably would have not given as many stars.

This product is a great purchase it offers several cool options and trick stunts top keep and user entertained for hours very rugged and use friendly

Bought for 9yr old nephew. Very durable and provides hours of fun!!

It was a little tricky at first to steer Ollie but with a little practice, I am now a pro. I saw the Darkside Ollie so I gave Ollie to me 5 year old grandson and bought Darth Ollie. My grandson can do tricks better than I can now. Hours of fun!

We gave this for a Christmas gift to our nephew and he was thrilled. When he called to thank us, he went on and on how much he loved it - he went into detail telling us all the neat stuff it can do. We haven't personally played with it, but from what our nephew and his parents have said, it is a really fun and clever device.

Got this for my son for his 8th B'day. He really enjoys it, setting it for doing tricks and showing off in front of his friends. Entertaining gadget
