If you're looking at this you probably already know something about this movie. You’ve likely heard about the amazing animation, the incredible story, and its loving treatment of the character Spider-Man. This product shows all that on a massive 80" television in perfect clarity. The audio balance didn't need any adjustment. The multiverse mode is delightful, offering some very cool scenes that might have been. A very excellent DVD.

Let's start with the specifics to this steelbook release: The Into the Spider-Verse steelbook features Miles Morales in his full Spider-Man suit from the end of the film with his spray painted spider logo as the background. It's absolutely stunning and I like it the best out of every version of the cover that was relesaed for this film.
The movie itself: This film was absolutely incredible. It won all of the animated movie awards for 2018 because for good reason. The animation style is unique and fresh, making the visuals alone a ton of fun to watch. On top of that, the story itself was great. It was paced very well, managing to successfully blend the origin of Miles Morales with Spider-Verse (the two comic stories adapted for this film). I'm excited for all of the future animated Spider-Man projects and hope that Sony quickly realizes that abandoning the Venom live-action films to focus on Spider-Man animated movies would be a much better move. If you like Spider-Man, animation, or superheroes in general, this is a must-buy.

A Different Spin on a Familiar Tale...

Let me just start by saying I am a HUGE Spider-Man fan- so I went into this film with very high expectations.
Needless to say, it was everything I had been told it was- thrilling, emotionally satisfying, inventive, new, different, and completely refreshing.
First, the animation was absolutely wonderful: unique, engaging, and thrilling. Second, the voiceover work is marvelous. Third, the tale of Miles Morales is told in a way that captivates and keeps the viewer's attention throughout. Lastly, if you're a Spidey fan...you won't be disappointed. Sure, they turn things "on their head" somewhat...but that's part of what makes the film so incredible. It's partly what you want and expect while also being something new and UNEXPECTED.
As for the 4K BluRay: it's exceptional. Colors are lush, vibrant, and gorgeous. Detail is crisp and pops off the screen. Sound is encompassing and exciting.
Highly recommended! THWIPP! 'Nuff said!

Product worked great.
A great Spider-Man story, with some unique animation. It worked out really well.
I'll let the annoying characters like Spider-Pig pass because kids love them and the rest of the story and animation makes up for them.

In the sixteen years since Sam Raimi's Spider-Man first debuted we've had seven different Spider-Man films featuring four different incarnations of the webslinger. And while each of those incarnations have their own unique qualities that make each effort commendable (even the less successful ones-I'm a fan of the Marc Webb Amazing films, even), with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse we get something that would seemingly be the nail in the coffin as far as originality in blockbuster cinema goes. I mean, "Seven Spider-Man films in sixteen years? That's a new Spider-Man every four years and didn't we just get a new Peter Parker last summer? Why do we need another Spider-Man let alone another Spider-Man movie?" These are all valid questions and concerns, but somehow-rather than being the tipping point that sends audiences over the edge into full-on superhero saturation directors Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman have crafted a superhero film that does the complete opposite and reinvigorates the genre over and over again with its brisk two-hour time frame. What Spider-Verse does to separate itself from the past incarnations of the character is not only introduce a new Spider-Man in the form of Miles Morales (DOPE's Shameik Moore), but to also offer a completely new origin story that also offers a new perspective on what it's like to be a superhero. The movie, which comes from producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 and 22 Jump Street) with Lord getting a sole screenwriting credit, knows exactly what it is and if you've seen any of Lord and Miller's previous work then you know how aware and how smart they are about recognizing the genre they're operating within, completely lampooning that genre, and then creating an experience of a movie that exists within that genre that is somehow simultaneously one of the best examples of that genre. For instance, if you were to pool this year's list of superhero films (a very strong year to boot) Spider-Verse would still be among the very best of them despite the fact superhero fatigue and references to past missteps in the series are explicit within the film's DNA. By executing the tropes audiences have become accustomed to in such expert fashion and placing this fresh twist on our expectations of the genre, Spider-Verse is able to stake claim in the fact that while viewers have seen plenty of superhero movies before, they've never seen one quite like this.

Up against both Disney and Pixar blockbusters ("Ralph Breaks the Internet" and "The Incredibles 2", respectively) "Spiderman Into the Spiderverse" seemed like the longest of shots to walk away with the Oscar for Animated Film this year. But win it did, and deservedly so. The film is a kick and a visual delight, too, exciting enough to keep youngsters engaged and clever enough to keep adults watching. It also features an uplifting message about self-worth and community that's genuinely touching. The visual and audio transfers in this blu ray set are first rate. My only gripe is that Sony didn't bother offering the film in its original 3D format here as it did in foreign markets. There is a 3D version that is multi-region offered on certain internet venues but at triple the price I paid for this set. Maybe the studio figures to release 3D to soak up even more money later on, but that's a very Un-Spidey thing to do.

Great Movie, Great 4k HDR

For whatever reason, if you watched the spiderman into the spider verse trailer on the Venom 4k disc, you were presented with the 4k Dolby vision version which was incredible. Fast forward to its 4k disc release and Dolby vision has been dropped in favor for HDR. Thats not to say the image isn't BREATHTAKING but if Dolby vision is so called the best, and most newer sony TV's support it, why not use it on the into the spider verse movie. With that out of the way, this movie is as enjoyable as it is incredible. These graphics were made for the extra pixels 4k resolutions affords and with HDR, everything is bright and crisp. Definitely reference quality stuff compared to the other fake 4k discs on the market. Buy this!

Anyone who's seen Into the Spider-verse knows how great it is, so I'm here to talk briefly about the steelbook artwork. First of all, I know you can just look at pictures to see everything I'm reviewing, but, nevertheless, here goes:
It's gorgeous inside and out. The outside is a simple graffiti graphic of Miles Morales' Spider-Man logo on the back and Spider-Man himself in front of a closeup of the spray paint graffiti logo on the front. It's a simple exterior, but it's still great to look at.
The inside is where, I think, the true beauty of this steelbook lies, and it almost makes me wish the interior artwork was on the outside. The inside is a pop-art comic book piece. It's full of color and great fun, and with a little tweaking to the overall layout and composition, it would have made a truly stunning exterior. That said, it's still beautiful on the inside as well.

Best Spider-man story

This has to be the best interpretation of Spider-Man on film.
Visually it looks amazing. You can see the comic book style dots, the cross hatching, certain characters have their distinct art style. It feels like a comic book.
The soundtrack is amazing. It fits so well with the tone and message of the movie.
The story is so great. A lot of heart went into it and the movie shows. Even the smallest details. If you pay close attention you will see that Miles moves at 2 frames while Peter moves at 1 frame. This makes Miles movements a bit janky and shows his inexperience. Even the parallels. Compare the first time and last time Miles sees the Peter suit. It just works so well.
It changes stuff from the comics but overall it stays true to the character. I recomend reading ultimate Spider-Man. It's one of, if not, the best Spider-Man story out there.
Just wish it was in 3D

Though I am very over the whole Marvel Multi-verse concept, the Spider-verse is a fresh take on it and is done extremely well.
The movie pulls you in very quickly and the upbeat flow keeps you intrigued. So much setup happened in the first 30 mins that I was sure I was over an hour in.
The visual are incredible. Enough said. Its gorgeous.
Cannot wait to see the sequel very soon!

As someone who usually finds themselves shrugging after finally viewing those universally loved films, I do, despite enjoying SpiderVerse, find myself questioning exactly why it surpassed enjoyment into outright love.
Make no mistake, there is much to enjoy here, from beginning to end, but I simply didn't find it compelling enough to rewatch it immediately, which is, to me, the sign of something truly magical.
The story itself is excellent, and Miles Morales is a wonderful character to take up the "spider-mantle". The problem is that of the two biggest emotional "tugs," the first: (the death of his universe's Spider-Man,) goes from an honest attempt at pulling at the heartstrings to throwaway catalyst far too quickly, as Peter "B" Parker arrives quickly to take on the mentor role (and whose own story occasionally outshines Morales') and makes the blow feel lessened. The second of these emotional attachments takes place, and when it does, you realize that character has had the majority of his narrative related to you via others' words rather than the character's actions being shown to you and allowing you to form your own attachment. You're told to care about him far more than seeing reasons to care about him, and when his reveal takes place, you're seeing Miles' reaction rather than feeling it along with him. In fact, the biggest opportunity to feel that character is essentially a music video- a gorgeous feast for your eyes and ears, but a missed opportunity to fill your heart.
Despite so many missed chances, the storytelling is solid, it's just something I expected more from after so many glowing reviews.
One thing that CANNOT be taken away from SpiderVerse is its art and style. Visually, SpiderVerse is absolutely stunning. It misses no chances to leave you amazed, not just in its originality, but also in its unique takes on what you'd expect from the Marvel characters. It's gorgeous, it's beautiful, it's something you must see, and it's ABSOLUTELY best viewed in 4K. It deserved every recognition it garnered, including its Academy Award.
Worth adding to your library, but maybe set your expectations a bit lower than that of what the critics have stated.

I'll be upfront and admit that I am not a huge fan of the Miles Morales character. And that's not fair to him. I feel he should have been made into his own unique character instead of just plopping him into an already existing character. I agree there needs to be more diversity, but simply race and/or gender swapping existing characters does nothing except anger the old fans and make the target demographic feel they are being patronized (Oh, I see...you want my money, but not enough to actually make something new and unique for me).
That said, the movie is excellent. I really enjoyed it. The art is really great (I really liked the different styles used to represent the different parts of the spiderverse). For the most part, the movie stayed on pace and delivered what was needed.

Excellent movie, excellent customer service. I was resistant to watch this movie at first because I’m not a big fan of animated. But this movie was actually really well made. My kids absolutely loved it too. The day after we watch this movie we went to the theaters to see the second one!

does anybody remember when Baskin Robbins (31 flavors) had the Spiderman flavor to promote the Spiderman with Andrew Garfield. the ice cream resembled Spiderman's suit, so it looked blue and red, but it tasted like chocolate with a nice crunch to it too. it tasted great and every time I went to Baskin, I made sure to get that flavor. it got discontinued and stopped going entirely to Baskin Robbins. I miss that flavor, but not that Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies. this Spiderman is actually a lot better, like that flavor of spider man ice cream I reminisced on. I would only recommend it to people of who love Spiderman and kids though. I give it an 8.569/10

This isn't only one of the best animated films to deservedly win an Oscar for that title, but it's also one of the best Comic Book adaptations ever made while also being just a great film all around. As one of my favorite movies of 2018, I'm glad to report that this 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray lives up to the film's reputation. Featuring a bright bold and colorfully beautiful 2160p transfer with HDR10, a thunderingly impressive Dolby Atmos mix and a swath of excellent informative bonus features, my only complaint is that we have to wait for the sequel. This 4K UHD disc is a Must Own for comic fans, film fans, and 4K UHD fans!
