If you have a small business or even a business with Little resources or staff, I strongly suggest getting the square kiosk.we have a small taco stand in the neighborhood
The style is very similar to any other commercial style register or kiosk. This piece of equipment will make your business look more professional.
Super easy to use as long as you have an iPad that will fit in the allocated area and connect with the USB-C connection for both charging your iPad and connecting it to your kiosk.
We are able to use this kiosk while external energy isn’t powering the device it can run off of the iPad energy for a short amount of time. I don’t suggest using it only off of iPad power as it will deplete it very quickly. I use a small generator for electricity.
You can mount it practically anywhere I suggest making sure that it is in an area that can spin and be used by multiple people, especially if you have a bar. The person behind the bar can use it and they can spin it around for a waiter or a manager to use it as well.
You can insert a card, tap your card or you phone to pay.

Thinking about getting the Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C)? Here’s what I’ve experienced with it.
***Unboxing and Packaging:***
When I first received the Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C), I appreciated how efficiently everything was packaged. The components were neatly organized, making it easy to get started. You can mount it on a wall, use it with a stand, or place it on a countertop. The included accessories make setup straightforward. The packaging was functional, designed to protect the contents without any unnecessary frills.
***Setup Experience:***
Setting up the Kiosk is simple if you’re already familiar with Square’s ecosystem but keep in mind you need a newer device with USB-C. Getting the Kiosk up and running is mostly smooth, though you may end up experiencing syncing issues or glitches when updating things through the Square dashboard. It did require a bit of troubleshooting. Despite these hiccups, I managed to customize the Kiosk to fit my needs.
***Quality and Features:***
The build of the Kiosk is solid and well-designed, making it suitable for a variety of retail environments, whether you’re setting up in a permanent location or moving between events. I especially appreciate that the Kiosk can operate on just the iPad’s battery, which adds a lot of portability and makes it ideal for my needs. Accepting payments through the Kiosk requires an additional accessory for swipe payments, though it does allow for tap and chip transactions out of the box.
***Performance and Usability:***
Using the Kiosk has been a positive experience for the most part. I like how seamlessly it integrates with my existing Square account, and it’s been effective whether I’m stationary or on the go. I did have to deal with some software issues regarding my inventory, but I’m confident Square can address this with software and firmware updates.
***Convenience vs. Functionality:***
The Kiosk is portable. It allows for payments even without an internet connection. The need for specific hardware and the occasional software bugs do detract a bit from the overall convenience, though the ability to customize the Kiosk and its strong integration with Square’s ecosystem make it a valuable tool for business.
***Conclusion:***
The Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C) has proven to be a flexible and effective point-of-sale system. It offers a range of features that cater to my needs, from mobile setups to traditional retail spaces. Needing to troubleshoot syncing issues was annoying, but if you’re willing to work through them, the Kiosk is a viable payment processing solution. If you’re looking for a completely seamless experience, you might want to wait for a few more updates.

Some Bug Frustrations Diminish Awesome Experience

--- SETUP ---
Setup requires you to connect the power adapter cable and run it through a hole in one of the metal plates provided. The unit can work on its own on a table. Stand is not required. Setting it up took about 5 minutes.
--- FEATURES ---
Multiple installation options (wall mount, tabletop, and stand), intuitive software (customer-facing), frees up staff, always powered with power adapter, accepts debit/credit cards, and tap to pay.
--- EXPECTATIONS and PERFORMANCE ---
This is my second square Kiosk device and I am truly enjoying the experience. I tried the device at home and it worked great. I had to watch a few videos on how to set up the payment options customer-facing, as the app is different from the Point of Sale Square app business owners use. After watching the videos and understanding how to generate a Kiosk code to sync and login, I was in business (no pun intended). The first day of use, customers weren’t used to self-paying, so I had to do a quick explanation. Going forth, they understood that they could pay as they came in while my dancing staff was busy finishing their practice or dance lesson for the day.
Using the Square Point of Sale on the computer, I was able to use custom images to start with a welcome screen displaying my logo and my services. For the first two weeks, everything was working great! Customers would check in as my staff and I were finishing our practice, and our phones would get instant notifications notifying that a sale was successfully made. However, I recently tried to make a promotion to thank my customer base. After I made some changes on my website through Square, because everything syncs together, the Kiosk app removed the items I was selling. At the last minute, I had to rely back on my former Point of Sale system to take payment on the spot. I brought the Kiosk home with me and I tried to get the items back on the Kiosk for purchase. I watched a lot of videos on how to do it, and I followed every step as required. I logged out of the Kiosk app, made sure my iPad’s iOS was up to date, turned off the iPad and WiFi and turned everything back on. Still, I was unsuccessful in getting the items back to the Kiosk app. On the Square website, you can move a slider where you want your items to appear: Website and/or Kiosk. I had both on. If I turned my website slider off, I could immediately see the website items disappear. When I turned my Kiosk items on, nothing appeared on the Kiosk. Eventually, I ended up creating a new category just for the Kiosk and a separate category for the website, even though I’m selling the same items. However, a new problem arose. In my Kiosk, an item I created to test if a new category would solve the problem appeared in the Kiosk! That meant I was able to bring new items under a new category. However, when I proceeded to delete the item, it didn’t delete from the Kiosk. Now, I have an item that lives in the Kiosk that was meant as a test item and there is no slider to turn off, as the item doesn’t actually exist on the Square dashboard to delete. It’s a phantom item that I don’t know how to remove. I’m sure this can be fixed with a future update, but my review is based on my current experience with the software and product.
Aside from that, future iterations could benefit from including a rotating option when used as a tabletop, as sometimes, customers have questions or need help using the self-serve, and staff would be able to help better if they could swivel the device to face them instead of walking next to the customer.
--- APPROVAL ---
Overall, this is a wonderful device that I would love to keep using. However, I would like for the sync to work anytime there are changes made on the Square dashboard. As the product stands, I would recommend you wait until all bugs are fixed.

When I first got my hands on the Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C), I was eager to see how it would stack up against its predecessor and how it could potentially streamline the point-of-sale operations in a small business environment. The first thing that caught my eye was the sleek design, which has clearly been refined from previous models. Setting it up, however, is where the real experience began.
Setup Experience
The setup process was surprisingly straightforward, even for someone who might not be tech-savvy. Square has done a great job in simplifying the installation process, providing clear instructions and an intuitive interface that guides you through every step. Plugging in the iPad via USB-C immediately felt like a significant upgrade, offering faster charging and data transfer capabilities. The Kiosk’s base is sturdy, providing a solid foundation that doesn’t feel like it’ll tip over with heavy use—something I always worried about with older models.
Use for Point of Sales
Once the setup was complete, it was time to put the Square Kiosk to the test in a real-world scenario. The first thing I noticed was how responsive the iPad became within the Kiosk. Navigating through the Square app was smooth and lag-free, which is essential during peak hours when every second counts.
One thing that stood out was the fact that this model doesn’t allow for card insertion. Initially, I was a bit concerned, as many customers still prefer to insert their cards. However, the tap-to-pay functionality is robust and worked flawlessly every time, whether it was a credit card or a digital wallet like Apple Pay. For businesses where contactless payments are becoming the norm, this is a significant plus.
That said, the inability to insert cards might be a dealbreaker for some businesses, especially those with older clientele who are less familiar with tap-to-pay. But for most modern businesses, this shift towards fully contactless transactions feels like a step in the right direction.
Comparison to Previous Model
Comparing this Kiosk to the previous version, the USB-C integration is the most notable upgrade. The older model relied on Lightning connectors, which worked fine but didn’t offer the same speed and reliability. The new design is also more ergonomic and user-friendly, with better cable management that keeps the workspace looking clean and professional.
However, I did miss the card insertion slot from the older model. Even though the tap-to-pay functionality is great, having the option to insert cards provided an additional layer of flexibility that this model lacks.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C) is a well-thought-out upgrade that caters to the growing demand for contactless payments. The setup is straightforward, the design is modern and sturdy, and the USB-C integration is a welcome improvement. However, the lack of a card insertion slot might be a limitation for some businesses.
If your business is ready to fully embrace tap-to-pay and contactless transactions, this Kiosk is an excellent choice. For those who still value having multiple payment options, you might want to consider if the trade-off is worth it. Overall, I believe this Kiosk represents the future of point of sales systems, but it’s essential to assess if it aligns with your business’s needs before making the switch.

I have been familiar with other Square products in the past that I have used for my personal freelance business as well as for a high school football booster club and it's fundraising efforts. I thought the Square Self-Service Kiosk for iPad (USB-C) might be a much better and more efficient option especially with the access to the Square Kiosk App if you wanted more features or sticking with treating it as a Point of Sale kiosk and using the basic free Square app.
Setup was relatively simple although I did not actually use the wall mount configuration option. The actual kiosk that the iPad slide into immediately powered up by getting power from the iPad. I will also mention that although the newest iPad Pro 11in M4 isn't one of the devices listed as compatible it works with the kiosk with no issues for me. I initially tried it with my existing Square app and found that everything worked smoothly for the most part with only a couple of glitchy moments when navigating the dashboard at times. Setup for the Square Kiosk app which will require a subscription after 2024 took a little longer to setup for my actual needs. I will definitely take advantage of the free trial of it for the rest of the year to see if the subscription option is the best for me or if sticking with the basic Point of Sale app would still fit my needs. The only negative I see so far is the inability to insert the card for payment but the tap feature works effortlessly and most of my customers wouldn't mind just opting to tap.
Overall this seems like a decent option. Time will tell if it continues to work as well as expected.

Square has come a long way from their first little ’square’ dongle that plugged into your iPhone earphone connection. I used one of those when they first came out and was amazed at being able to receive card payments from anywhere I had cell or wifi connection. Great for entrepreneurs and those occasional events, or even garage sales.
Since then, Square has branched out to a variety of point-of-sale hardware and software solutions. As a result, they’re no longer a novelty, but part of a familiar routine as the clerk swings the ‘register’ around for you to use when completing a purchase.
So, as they keep an ear tuned to the needs of retailers and entrepreneurs, they continue to develop more hardware and offer an expanding selection of software solutions tailored to specific kinds of applications. The Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C) is the latest example of this. Designed to work with new-generation iPads (USB-C), it was basically plug-and-play for me as far as being able to process a test purchase using my existing Square account. Otherwise, you’ll need to will until you set up your account with them. The Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C) comes with the hardware needed to mount it on a wall or to a stand (stand not included).
This unit comes ready to accept payments via both tap and inserting cards with chips. It has a charger and cords, of course, but what I especially appreciate is that it will work off of the iPad power when it’s not plugged in. Although this does not appear to be a primary focus of its design, for me this is a big bonus. This makes it extremely flexible for receiving payments wherever needed and to be able to bring it to the customer.
As mentioned before, there are a growing number of software solutions and primary-use scenarios available. That’s where it can be customized to meet your personal requirements. One thing to be aware of is that this unit does not come with the capability to accept swipe payments. However, there is an add-on that can be purchased separately to meet that need.
From a dongle on your iPhone, to the Square Kiosk for iPad (USB-C), Square offers solutions you can’t go wrong with. This is one more example.

Square Credit card stand

This newest version of the Square Credit Card reader stand allows users to self-check out if you desire. You can also use it as a standard counter credit card reader. The reader requires an iPad 10.9-inch 2022 version with the USB-C connector. There is also an adapter for using the iPad Air and Pro models with the USB-C type plug.
The base unit comes with a flat mount or angled mount. There are also 4 fastening points on the back of the unit for mounting a VESA mount. Both the mounts include a small level built in. You can also use either to mount on the countertop. The unit comes with a standard Square power supply and a hub for powering other Square accessories, such as a cash register, receipt printer or scanner gun to complete your site. When you download the Kiosk application you can set it up as a self-service Kiosk.
With the Square application you can build your own data base of Items in inventory and their associated costs. Thus, tracking inventory and sales data. This allows you to print a proper receipt for the customer.
As an extra measure of security the unit comes with a fastening bolt to hold the iPad in the base station.
The base station allows for three type of card interaction. Hands free tap at the hands-free symbol or inserting the card into the reader and the traditional swipe across the bottom of the unit.
As a user of the Square credit card system I believe this is a step up to my current system. I am looking forward to utilizing the updated base station with a newer iPad. I would recommend that you seriously consider upgrading to this platform.

I've used square off and on for the better part of the last 6 years seasonally and have always been impressed with what they offer. The setup of the self service kiosk was easy and took about five to ten minutes. Instructions were clearly laid out in a way that I could quickly get a gauge of what I needed to complete the physical setup within seconds. Tap to pay and chips are accepted with this and is easy to use. I found that the build quality of this to be exceptional. The software setup was pretty easy but lacked quick ways to sync to the kiosk. The app is very customer friendly and we had customers ready to use it after a few seconds of understanding what was in fromt of them. I liked the ability to fit where I needed it to as it came with all the hardware needed to put it where I wanted. I had an issue with notifications on my Square app on my phone that caused notifications not to be sent, but a quick hop into my settings fixed that and all has been great since. I would recommend this to any and all businesses!

Step one: open the box. Inside, you’ll find the main iPad holder, a breakout USB extension, a power brick, two mounts (flat and angled) and a standard power cable, along with a couple of mounts. Also worth noting is that there is a security screw for the iPad release mechanism so that a bad actor would need a screwdriver to pop out your iPad.
The main unit works as follows: you slide in your USB-C iPad (4th-6th Gen air, 10th Gen standard, or 11” Pro) and the tap-to-pay and card insertion slot light up. The iPad prompts you to download the software and send you to the App Store to all of Square’s point of sale products. I downloaded the Square point of sale software and found an easy to use interface with Apple-like prompts and simplicty. I’ve read that the software is compatible with all point of sale systems, but I am already integrated with Square, so I haven’t tried others. The breakout box goes inline between the main unit and the power brick. It provides two extra USB ports for accessories such as barcode scanners or receipt printers.
Most people who are interested in something like this already know how the software works: plug in your pricing and let your customers buy. I am a laborer who has a price list and this helps me show the customer what they’re buying and facilitates payment. The tap to pay works flawlessly as does the credit card slot.
Overall, for the price and utility, I like the unit. The only complaint I have is that my 2020 iPad Air is like 1mm too small for the pad. I am totally finding needles haystacks here because I still consider this a five star product.. it just should be noted that Apple changes their design by like a millimeter here and a millimeter there between generations so my iPad isn’t like tight locked in as a newer model would be. But there’s no way that it could be damaged, I’m just pointing out minute details. The release button and all of the hardware feel very well thought out. Having it when I am closing out customers as a level of professionalism to my business; wholeheartedly recommend this!

After using the square self Service kiosk for over a month I can safely say that this is a great addition to any point of sale setup the ease of use and the adaptability to the different versions of iPads makes this a breeze the seamless integration with squares interface on the iPad also is a benefit the build quality is perfect and can be used in portrait or landscape although it makes more sense to use it in landscape. We already had several iPads here in our shop so we were able to just use one of the current iPads that we had with this new square kiosk. This is perfect for anyone that is needing a quick and effective point of sale setup without spending a ton of money there are some drawbacks like only having the ability to use USB c for peripheral devices that makes hooking up any sort of cash box barcode scanner or any other peripheral device not only difficult but can get rather expensive very quickly because of the way Apple forces users into only being able to purchase Apple approved accessories and let's face it anything Apple related is just expensive. We did not try to set up any sort of cash box or cashew barcode scanner or any other peripheral device because of this reason. All in all I would say this is the perfect setup for a smaller to maybe medium-sized business that doesn't want to have a huge investment and a point of sale machine but wants to have something better than just the regular credit card swiper or the contactless chip reader or even the little square all in one unit that they sell that's handheld. I would write this product a solid 4 out of 5 stars and would definitely recommend if someone has an iPad laying around or doesn't mind paying for an iPad as well as the cost of this kiosk even then you're still at a third of what you would normally pay for a retail point of sale machine.

I would expect a self-service kiosk, especially by Square, to be expensive in my opinion. That is not the case here. I can't believe you get this much value in such a small package. Simple and clean, sweet design, clean UI, easy to set up, I can see its use and me recommending it to friends starting their own businesses as well. I've had multiple small businesses including selling clothing and also assisting with martial arts classes where payment is usually via cash, check, or mobile banking transfer payment, never with the convenience of paying with the customer's credit card due to fees. We did have the original Square reader that you plug into the power port and then swipe your card that way, but it's just not as clean and as nice as a terminal / self-service kiosk.
I can see its use being more for businesses that offer a service such as karate or dance classes, or like with my clothing, setting up the clothes and their pricing and customer pays and you provide the clothing. Even using this at concert events with its portability and different ways you can position it even on a table.
However for food trucks, I can see it being hit or miss. I know many are used to using their phones and it's good enough, but the kiosk is small enough that it may not be an issue.
Its use will greatly depend on the person and the business in my opinion, but it has potential!

I own small craft business, and this is a great product for trade shows. We were already using the Square app on an iPhone and this works seamlessly with the existing account. Be sure you have a compatible iPad or you may have issues getting it to fit on the device. A compatible device easily slides into the front slot and make it a neat and highly portable point of sale device. You have the option of using in handheld mode or you can connect to the sturdy stand. The software makes it simple to customize and we added our available craft inventory. Customers can easily browse items and they can select products and pay effortlessly from the application. The card reader is built in and works effortlessly. The Square app automatically calculates and adds applicable sales tax. A feature that works well when traveling to trade shows is that you can use it even if you don't have access to a WiFi or mobile network. Transactions can be processed, and you have 24 hours to connect to a network and all processed transactions are seamlessly uploaded and completed. The monthly subscription cost is reasonable for the wealth of features and convenience that are provided.

Another great solution by Square. I have owned and tried several products from this company and they never disappoint. I love being able to accept tap to pay which also means that you can accept all phone, watch, and soon ring payments. Just another way to add convenience to the customers' credit card payment experience. Using the ipad is also a great way to add details and photos to your products description to entice you customer to order something. The build quality is terrific as it is with every device from this manufacturer. It will definitely handle the bumps and bruises from owning and running a mobile business or food truck. I love that you can accept payments even without the Internet. That is a huge convenience for remote setups. Everything is powered by USB C and I couldnt be happier with that choice. The lack of USB C on the previous models really held the self service kiosk back. I personally am done using proprietary power sources for anything else I buy. Highly recommended for sales in any storefront.

So I own a small gym and up until this point I’ve used services other than cash payments like cash app Zelle and PayPal for personal training sessions. Two of those have been hacked so far causing more of a headache than convenience. Enter my try with square. I’m firmly integrated into the apple eco system from MacBook to speakers. I received the square unit nicely packaged and looked nice and interesting. Upon opening it everything was nicely tucked in place and easy to get going. As far as setup goes it was pretty much a breeze from start to finish and had high expectations as far as ease of use from there. Once every try big was set up I tried it myself using one of my cards and easy as pie. You can use it without internet so even better from there. That’s its main attraction as it should be for most people. Once I had clients starting to use it the bugs here and there started to happen. Connection issues to card reading. Not always but enough to be annoying. The software for this definitely needs some work that’s where the deduction in stars from. But I can see the potential and will stick with it for a while and see how it goes. Don’t have any other square to compare it to as I’m a first time user.
I would recommend this to a friend
