Great little board that does exactly what it says it does, the only reason i didn't go 5 stars was its costs a little more that the competitors stuff.

Modernizes older computers - somewhat

I've been using an older computer as a file server, to allow family members to have access to their files no matter which of our computers they're physically using, but recently I got into making large video files, so I needed to add more storage. The server, though, was maxed out on drives already (and only had old style IDE connections anyway). After a bit of research, I found this card and special-ordered it to be delivered to my local store, and at the same time I picked out a 3TB Western Digital hard drive to connect to it. Connecting everything was straightforward, but once I was done, the drive was listed as connected in Device Manager but not available to be formatted.
To make a long story short, after several phone calls and online chat sessions, I found out that this SATA card doesn't support drives larger than 2TB. (Given that I bought both of these items in the same transaction, I would have thought that the fancy computers that run Best Buy would have been able to tell me from the beginning that Tab A wasn't going to fit into Slot B, saving me weeks of frustration - which is the main reason I'm writing this review, so that maybe by describing my situation I can save someone else from the amount of frustration I've experienced.)
Despite this, I still consider this card to be a good value, because I can still add another 6TB of storage without needing to use up another expansion slot - or (once I get at least one more drive) I can configure them as a RAID array, so that all the files on one drive are automatically backed up on the other.
