Highly customizable, very wide range of colors. It is very nice, durable and it has a little thing attached to the bottom of the keyboard that you can disconnect and connect for your wrists when typing. The keys are smooth and nice.

I may have a bit of bias as my entire setup is Steelseries, but I love this keyboard. It works seamlessly with my other compatible gear. I simply had to plug it into my computer and it was ready. I prefer Cherry switches, and these are super smooth. The features are super fun to play with and are all customizable through Steelseries GG; I didnt think I would use the OLED screen much but using GG I can display hardware monitoring on the screen, saving me from checking task manager. Built in lighting presets and active keys make simply typing out documents fun. Custom function keys by Steelseries allow for quick setup of macros. These are just some of the things it offers and I’ve had it for more than a week now still customizing it discovering new things. Overall, if you are looking for a keyboard that will mold to you and is built well, I can recommend the Steelseries Apex Pro!

Typing on this keyboard is wonderful and so customizable as well. Beautiful with the lights and color patterns. I use for both heavy coding and light gaming. This keyboard adapts to both with no compromise. I use as an external keyboard for my docked MSI GS-65se. The keyboard comes in a nice box giving hints of the quality of the keyboard inside. The cord has two USB connectors, one for the keyboard obviously and the second for a feed though for a port on the upper left side. This port is illuminated making connecting USB drives and such real easy for those of us with older eyes. You are then going to need the SteelSeries Engine. This came installed on my laptop so I was ready to go. In this software, you can set up profiles with various key bindings, macros, and light settings. The neatest feature is also here. You can set the actuation level for each or all of the keys. There is a small OLED display, you configure in the engine setting also. Didn't seem to be too many options, but you can change the image, tie it into Discord, games or Tidal. In Tidal, it shows what song is playing. There weren't too many game title integrations, but more and more as time goes on.

Caveat: I'm not a gamer. Is this a great keyboard for non-gamers? Yes! I love the silky smooth and quiet linear switches. It's not quiet compared to some membrane keyboards, but this is one the more quiet mechanical ones I've used. Only downside I can think of is that you can definitely feel the difference of the Omnipoints vs the non-omni points used on the function keys and numkeys. It has a slightly different feel and sound, but it's a minor detail I got over pretty quickly. Overall quality of the keyboard is top notch. I might try buying the O rings to dampen the sound a little more, but that's a future project. I love the lighting effects and the mini OLED is a nice touch. It's neat that you can put in animated GIFs into them, and really brings out the nerd in me. I did buy it on sale, so the price stung a little less, but I can definitely say that the price is fully justified compared to most keyboards out there. The omnipoint adjustability is awesome and I can see how handy it can be for gaming.

An awesome keyboard. My previous keyboard was from another manufacturer of the gaming variety and this one blows it away. Granted that board was 7 years old. I’m always nervous about a new mechanical keyboard because I worry about key noise, and I can say that this keyboard is not loud. It is not as quiet as a membrane, of course, but I didn’t expect it to be. It is about the same noise level as my previous board that had the equivalent of cherry brown keys. The key press is super smooth and consistent across the whole keyboard. I’ve had zero stickiness or grit. The keyboard itself is sturdy and attractive. It looks nice just sitting there with the pc off. The lighting is the best I’ve seen and fully customizable with the steelseries software. The software is easy to use and intuitive. I haven’t messed around with the key actuation setting so I can’t say anything positive or negative about that. You can’t go wrong with this keyboard and you won’t regret buying it.

This keyboard is very good. It might seem a little pricy but it’s definitely worth it. I’ve had it for a little while now and still no issues whatsoever. You can change the clicking sounds, the response is very good, and customization is also pretty good. I wish there were more customization features but what it currently has is still very good. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good gaming keyboard or even something super fancy for your office desk.

The feel and touch of this keyboard is like no other keyboard I've had. It feels mechanical but sounds/feels soft to the touch. I love that this keyboard syncs with my mousepad and that I can easily change and customize the colors. The wrist rest is magnetic for easy cleaning or removal. The wrist rest has a soft surface that doesn't irritate the skin.

3 years later this unit is still tops. Purchasing another as a gift. Great value. Wrist rest is comfortable and super easy to remove. Keys haven’t worn out, even the characters aren’t worn out after at least 3,000 hours.

Great build quality, with satisfying (but muted) keys. A half-decent wristpad and overall good integration with the Steel series app. The Steelseries app however is not a very great experience. I highly recommend you do not activate the SONAR feature.

This is the best keyboard I've ever typed on. The tactile feel is great. And the key activation setting does allow you to change the force needed to activate the keys. I would have been happy with just a white lit keyboard, but this RGB lighting is great. It has more adjustments then you could ever use, and the software is easy to use. The owners manual they provide you is worthless and printed out in 4 point font! You need to go online to get instructions. This is a very expensive keyboard (even though I got it on a good sale), but it is worth it. It is solidly built. You can store up to 5 different settings on the onboard memory. It's not as quiet as a membrane keyboard, but it is the least noisy of mechanical switches that I've heard. It looks like a keyboard you could have for years...

    The work and play keyboard

I've only had this keyboard for a week, but I'm liking my experience so far with this keybaord. My keyboard prior to this was a Razer Blackwidow Elite, which was giving me problems after only six months and was way to clicky in sound and feel. After some youtube videos and reading reviews I gave the Apex Pro a shot, and I'm glad I did. This keyboard is very linear in sound and feel, minimalistic in design, and the actuation feature makes this the perfect keyboard for work and play. My colleagues at work could hear my Blackwidow Elite when I used it, but this is significantly quieter. I'm just starting to become comfortable with the actuation features, and still honing in on my settings. I use a higher setting for work (9), and lower setting for gaming (4-5). I found if I set the actuation too low you can barely touch the keys to trigger a response, which can cause misclicks in game and for typing. Keypresses are buttery smooth, which I'm still getting adjusted to compared to my previous board, and while these keys are not PBT they have a rubbery feel that offer enough grip and are not plastic feeling. Stabilizers are good and a giant improvement over the Blackwidow Elite. The RGB is well executed, and easy enough to play around with. My only complaint is Steelseries should offer a better manual or tutorial on using this keyboard, and add further explanation in the software. They don't explain actuation in the software, or how that OLED screen works. It wasn't until I learned how to manually change the settings from a third party video that I really liked this board. Steelseries would be wise to address this, otherwise I could see someone being annoyed and wanting to return it. Overall, I'm really pleased with this board. It fits my needs in a keyboard, and I think it offers enough features to justify the price. I was skeptical at first of spending this much on board, but I now know what the extra money gets you versus a cheaper board. If I were to recommend any changes it would be for them to use PBT keycaps, and improve their software.

Best keyboard I’ve ever owned. The keys feel good to type on and they’re not that loud of a mechanical keyboard. The actuation controls are a little gimmicky, but I don’t play competitive multiplayer on my PC where I guess eery microsecond counts (at least that’s what they tell you); that said, I played around with the actuation controls and they are super easy to change and work as designed. Steelseries’ software works well, allowing you to easily switch between multiple profiles. The backlighting is very easy to control.

I can't fully express how good this keyboard is... All I can do is tell you that is the best feeling keyboard I have ever used, I find myself making up reasons to type on it... Pros: Feels great to type on. Great lighting. Great customization options. Great wrist rest. Looks nice. Cons: Software a little wonky and (at the time of writing) missing quite a bit of features. Not portable so you cant type on it all the time like you will want to. Anyway I g2g I'm working on transcribing the entire Game of Thrones TV series...

This keyboard is $200.. and it feels like it. The best keyboard I've ever laid hands on. Previously, I had the corsair strafe rgb that, after 4 years, I spilled my drink on it. The strafe was about 140$ and it was pretty good. This one feels better in every way, key feel of switches and the wrist rest as well. Also, the software is great and better than icue. Tldr; I think its worth the $200.

Best Buy carries several brands of high end gaming keyboards. My local store has a display of each of them that you can interact with. I purchased this one based on SteelSeries reputation and how the keys felt. There are many great features about the Apex Pro but arguably key switches is the most important. The Apex Pro has an app included that allows you to manage the switches and customize switch sensitivity to your preference. Each gamer has their own preference and this keyboard adjusts to you. The app also assists you in creating custom macros for a higher end gaming experience and I really enjoy the ability to create custom RGB color schemes. The second most significant thing, but really just as important as the switches is how comfortable it is to use for long term gaming. the magnetically detachable wrist rest is very comfortable and sloped just right for my sitting position. I tried a different keyboard based on a strong recommendation and it was quickly apparent that it was not going to be comfortable. There is a built in roller on the keyboard that will allow you to change your profiles with a simple roll. You can also adjust volume, rewind video, adjust brightness all from the keyboard. The three way cable routing allows you to have the cable laid out the direction that is best for you. You can adjust the illumination for each key and store it to a profile. it also has a USB port My final thought on this keyboard is that it is built for serious gaming and is suitable for all other uses.

Initial impression - extremely nice keyboard. You get a bit of the clickety-clack from the keys, so it's not like it's silent, but it's much quieter than some keyboards I've used in the past that would give you that loud, hollow, sort of metallic sounding click. This is more like an old school (80s-90s time frame) keyboard click, but just the slightest bit quieter and softer sounding than that. If you want a silent keyboard, this isn't the way to go, but I like this noise level. Keys are very responsive, too. Some lighting customization in the software, but a bit limited. The body of it is made of plastic, so it may break easier than one with an aluminum frame, but it feels very solid so I have the impression it will hold up well as long as it doesn't get abused. The tiny little screen - I don't get why keyboard manufacturers keep doing that. I'm not taking any points off for it being there, because I'm not losing anything to it, but it's kind of useless. A screen showing anything useful isn't much good when you have to keep looking down to see it, and decorative animations and such aren't really that interesting when they're that small. A screen that's bigger and sticks up a bit to get closer to your line of sight (as some manufacturers have done before) would make a little more sense, but that gets overly expensive for a feature that's still not *that* useful. On the flip side of that, though, you can make tiny gifs that will play out on the rgb lighting in the keys, where it's much more interesting and visible - so that part is pretty cool. Unfortunately, you lose any other lighting effects if you do that, so no reactive lighting (ripples or lines when you press keys) if you want an animation on the keys. They might be able to improve that in software, so hopefully they will at some point. The cable routing solution is fantastic - best I've seen on a keyboard. There are channels on the bottom with little clips to hold the cable in place, and you just lay the cable into whichever channel makes it come out on the side that works best for your setup. Simple, elegant, low tech solution that's perfect. Volume wheel is pretty small. I don't generally need it because I have a volume control directly on my headphones, so I can't say it's bad or anything, just seems like something a little bigger would be nice if I was using it. The wrist support tray uses magnets to attach. Super nice feature, and it means no plastic clips to break off if you move it around a lot. Unfortunately for me, I tend to pick the keyboard up and set it in my lap (I use a huge screen and lean back, so having the keyboard in my lap makes things easier), and it will not stay attached in that circumstance. Not a huge deal, I can still work with it comfortably, it just takes a little careful positioning if I'm gonna play a game since I don't have that smooth plane to rest my wrist on. Can't knock it for that, though, cause that's my weird setup. The keys do actuate *very* easily. If you tend to rest your fingers or any other part of your hands on any of the keys you have to pay attention that you don't put any pressure on them or you wind up with lots of unintended key presses. This is just a consequence of the extremely 'smooth' key switches, though, and across many new keyboards because of that. Something to keep in mind if you do that, but nothing serious. So overall, having only had it for about a week - love it so far. It feels good, works well, and has some super nice features.
