won't let you down on flat surfaces

This suction mount is probably better than the original version I've been using for for the past several years. Keep in mind, it needs the right surface...flat and solid, like a windshield. We did a car interior shoot and it wouldn't stay connected to a new leather-like dashboard, but it was super tight on the windshield. We used another one on the car roof, again it was solid. Easy to use and built to take some abuse.

Mind Boggling Design Flaw

It seems obvious to me that GoPro could have included one more piece that wohld have made more sense than the 90° joint REQUIRED to attach the camera along a parallel axis to the two arm bolts. That is to say, if yoh must have the xtension arm, yoh must also add one more piece because the only adapter for the end of the arm is 90° different than everytbing else. Sure, it adds an extra degree of freedom of adjustment, but it also adds an innecessary weak point that could be eliminated altogether by adding one simple piece. I was actually jnder the impression that the camera end of the arm actually had a swivel joint, but no, that piece is the quick adapter and again, it is rotated 90° so the camera’s viewing axis is not in-line with the arm. Is it a problem? Peobably not, but from a design persoective it seems like a flaw that only benefits those mounting the camera to, say, the side of a vehicle - probably one of the most touted use cases in GoPro marketing - but a restriction nonetheless. Add a swivel attachment and a straight adapter, and i think then, possibly, the $40 price tag would be justified. Otherwise, it’s kind of… meh.

Works very well, I was skeptical about a suction cup for a $350 camera but it holds very tight on painted body panels and windshields.
It held onto the truck in front of me rock solid during a 4x4 trip with many mud holes, rocks and other obstacles and had no issues.
Didn't have to worry about losing my cam in a mudhole. Only con is its pretty expensive for a suction cup.

Works Great, but Old Design was Better

The new design is different than the original (new one uses the clip to attach to the arm instead of the screw). I prefer the old design as it was more flexible.
If you clean your surface and attach correctly, this will not detach. I did have one failure of these, but that was my fault in not properly securing it. Wet the ring and with the arm up, push down in the center to push the air out and create a vacuum. Then push the arm down to secure. Pull on the large camera arm to test it, and you're good. I've seen some people tender these to their cars to make sure the cam doesn't go anywhere if the mount fails, but I can only imagine the paint damage that would do. My camera and mount were fine after my one and only failure on the racetrack, so a tether probably isn't worth the potential paint damage.

The Gopro suction cup mount works great. Put the mount and the gopro on a car and drove it 85 mph on the 130 toll road around Austin Texas. The mount work great, kept the camera still and got great video while on that road at those speeds. It is pricey compare to the competition but I trust the Gopro suction cup would handle 130mph limit that it says it can do over the cheaper competition.

This is an excellent vehicle mount, and well worth the cost. I used it on a tour of Florida and it only fell off once from not being set fully on accident. I used a lanyard attached to a thick keyring on the mount to secure it to the vehicle in case of this happening. I would recommend this to other professionals and amateurs alike.

It worked... nice ! Used it once on the front of my kayak and it held without any issues for hours. I did tie it to the yak just in case, there was no slippage and suction was still strong after my fishing adventure. You’ll see it in action if you checkout my videos on YouTube: teachme2fish

I purchased this GoPro mount to be able to place my GoPro Max 8 at several locations on my bass boat.
It never came off any of the 3 locations i stuck it on and I hit some bumpy water at speeds up to 40mph on the water.

I bought this to use with my GoPro on my Jeep when I go off-roading. Mounts just about anywhere and only came lose when I had it mounted to an dirty area on my hood. Other than that it took all the bumps and mud like a champ!

I actually purchased it to modify it for my Ham aradio head control. It has a large suction cup that has not fallen from the windshield like other flimsy mounts do.
I recomend this mount for any camera and or device if you wish to modify the miunting points. Remember its now outbof warranty but who cares about that when it works like a charm and its very rigid!

It's nice that they offer this with the quick-releases now, you can slide the GoPro on and off with ease. I have the one before this where you still had to screw in the GoPro. It would be easier if they just sold the quick-releases by themselves. But it does not hurt to have an extra suction cup, you never know what can happen.
