Customers admire the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Edition Controller for its compatibility with both the Switch and GameCube, its nostalgic feel that reminds them of the original GameCube controller, its high-quality construction, and its overall ease of use. While some customers mentioned the need for an adapter, the positive feedback on the controller's compatibility, feel, and quality outweigh this concern.

Great for Switch

I have the original game cube controller and I prefer this for Switch and WiiU. The cable is longer and the controller feels sturdier. This is ideal for Smash Bros, and works well with MK 8 Deluxe and Mario Tennis Aces. Remember you need a GCC converter.

I bought this controller in conjunction with the controller adapter. And I have to say it’s really nice. Pretty much a new GameCube controller. For me I use this mostly for Mario Kart, Smash, and Mario Odyssey. And for compatibility with other Switch isn’t much of a problem at all. Until you get into a game that require the LZ button since the controller only has 1 Z button. And the other plus is compatibility with Wii and GameCube. So even if you don’t have a Switch, this still could be of use if you want to replay some classics.

I have been using this type of controller since the Gamecube era of Nintendo console. While it's great for the Switch with the adaptor, there does seem to be a slight amount of lag because of it. Overall it's not bad. It is about the same amount when I had the adaptor connected to the Wii U.
Plus it's great if you still want to occasionally play stuff for Gamecube or want another way to play games on the Wii U or Switch while the Pro Controller is charging.

This was a highly anticipated item at my house. We have ordered off-brand controllers for our gamecube to have a set of 4 to play SmashBros and more however those always break. They just are not the quality of the original Nintendo gamecube controllers. 100% recommend. The added decal is a nice touch and adds to the nostalgia of playing Smashbros years ago.

The GameCube controller will never die and that is because it remains the best way to play Smash Bros. The Pro controller is a great second option but this one here is, in my mind, untouchable. It feels just like the original too. I bought two to replace my aging GameCube controllers that are 15 years old now and they are just as they should be.

The quality of this controller is identical to the original GameCube one (as intended), better than the wireless version in my opinion. sure it's not wireless, but if you're competitive in Smash, then this will be you most reliable option.

This feels exactly as you'd remember. It's a high quality, Nintendo made, GameCube controller. Can be used on an actual GameCube. Great way to replace your original worn down controllers. Highly recommend when/if they go back in stock!

Great to finally be able to buy a GameCube controller new. I've replaced the rubber tabs and joysticks too many times on old work out controller. Seems like a little bit of lag on the switch but works great on original GC

Haven't encountered any issues yet and the controller has held up well. I like that it is a gamecube connection so I can use it on my Wii when playing old GC games.

It's the same Gamecube pad that people remember since 2001. Great for Smash Bros, but not that great for all other fighting games.

This controller needs an adapter to connect onto your Nintendo Switch! I was confused at first and upset at the same time as I learned, after I bought it, that it needs an adapter to connect. I've managed to get this controller for a few dollars less cuz it was open box im guessing previous buyer was frustrated like i was.
Overall the controller works great.
Controller brings me back to the SS Melee days as it feels and clicks the same as it did in the GameCube era. The cable is extra long as well so I could play from father away in my living room.
I might recommend to others but will tell about the extra components it needs in which Nintendo failed to mention on their box.

Although I prefer to play Smash Bros. Ultimate with a Pro Controller, I think it's pretty amazing that Nintendo is still producing controllers from a console that has been out of production for 12 years just because there are so many Smash fans for whom the GameCube controller is the preferred way to play. It's great to have the option if you want it, and the special silver Smash emblem on the controller makes it a really nice collectible, as well.

This controller is perfect for playing Smash Bros. Ultimate! The tactile feedback and response feels identical to playing with the original Gamecube controllers. The only real difference I can feel is that these new controllers are slightly lighter than the original ones, but that isn't enough to stop me from buying three more of them to have enough controllers for 8 person matches haha.

I haven't held a brand new GCN controller for more than 10 years but Nintendo's still making them just as reliably as they did 17 years ago. The design is wonderful and makes you feel all the more powerful when you're using it to Smash. The shoulder buttons feel nice and springy, the controls sticks responsive, the rumble brand new. You just can't get a better controller experience from a third party. You have to go with the big N themselves

This controller definitely feels like the real deal. I got the PDP "Fight Pad" for my WiiU and it feels pretty chintzy compared to this. The only problem is there isn't a "Home" button, but then again if they tried to shove another button in there they would be going down the path of the third party controllers, and would be less authentic.

Fast inputs, long chord, good quality, feels and looks great. My original concern with this controller was that the pre-order date said it would arrive on Christmas, over two weeks after the release of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Fortunately, it arrived yesterday, giving me time to get used to the feel of the controller before December 7th.
When comparing it side by side to the official controller that came with my Gamecube, the only difference that I can feel is the plastic it's made with. Some of the reviews for this controller have said that the plastic feels cheaper but I personally prefer the new material. The plastic on this controller feels a lot less likely to gather grease or marks after long play sessions.
Many of the 1-2 star reviews have very different issues with their controllers. Some are complaining about slow inputs, low quality triggers, and some people are having trouble with getting it to work on emulators. I've had none of these problems. Maybe I just got lucky with the one I was shipped but overall, I'm very satisfied with it.
