I have the Svs SB3000 and have enjoyed it for some time. Adding these two to the front channel has expanded and refined the way i experience sound. Also added the ultra center speaker afterwards just because of how excellent these bookshelf speakers were.

SVS Ultra Bookshelfs : Quality, Performance, Value

I regularly visit and kibbutz with the folks that work at the Magnolia Audio sub-store at the Mt. Laurel, NJ, particularly Will and Brian. They know I have the audiophile addiction and I am always tweaking my three (3) hifi kits (office, home office & parlor). My parlor set-up was bothering me. I had slapped it together with leftover pieces and was slowly replacing the unsatisfactory (well, to me) pieces when I strolled into Magnolia and began looking at speakers to fill the 16 x 14 room. The small Monitor Audio Silver 50s were too small to provide fullness for the space and I needed to improve the sound to reflect the other system upgrades (including an tweaked Rega Planar 3 and Technics SU-G700 Integrated amp--both excellent and both available at Magnolia). The problem was that I was under strict orders to not turn the parlor into another "media" room and was mandated to buy bookshelfs or stand speakers. Listening to the usual suspects such as the B &W 600/700 series and the small Martin Logans, I heard scant improvement over the Silver 50s and was ready to give up when Brian says, "We just got these on an open box return--I love them, they're SVS Ultras".....HUH? They make subs, or so I thought. I listened to them with and without an REL subwoofer (similar to my home kit), and concluded this speaker at about $1,000 bucks a pair is unreal. The detail, the quality and the sound, full and clear. The REL sub-woofer, set at 80htz, complimented their excellent low end, not overpower it. Perhaps because SVS makes renowned subwoofers that they know how to tune speakers for the rest of the spectrum. I was hooked. Don't get me wrong, these are substantial stout speakers weighing in at 20 pounds, but they deliver like a tower. I placed them on sturdy Audiosource 28" pedestal glass and steel stands, tweaked the sub and music filled the parlor, the high end was no slouch either, but the fullness of the mid-range was phenomenal. Thank you Will & Brian and Magnolia/BestBuy for once again delivering for me. A ++++.

These are WONDERFUL speakers. They image very well and are very detailed as well as articulate. The bass is clean and tight (although adding a sub will help tremendously, as it does with any bookshelf speaker), the mids are present enough to hear all the detail without sounding muddy, the highs are clear and airy. Great for music or home theater. Beautiful design. I’m very impressed. They sound comparable to speakers much more expensive such as B&W 705.

These are the best speakers I've ever purchased. They can handle power with clarity. I was debating about going with SVS Prime Bookshelf but decided to go with the Ultra instead. I definitely made the right choice. Highly recommend!

I can't find words to describe the clarity from these premium speakers from SVS. The highs and mids have great sound stage and imaging. I would recommend pairing these with a sub. Awesome speakers!

SVS ultras are expensive but I noticed the longer I have them, the better they sound. Have a svs sub with them. Great home theater!

First off, upon unboxing, it was clearly evident how good looking these speakers are. (Gloss white) Probably the best looking finish of any speakers I’ve ever owned. Another thing that struck me was their size. For a bookshelf, these are large and heavy. Build quality is evident from details like the matching cloth grills to the double set of binding posts on the rear. (For biamp) As far as the sound: I’m impressed. The Ultra Bookshelves have a wide soundstage and are even capable of a bit of bass. (Given their size) I’m running in old Yamaha RX-V 992 receiver with 80 wpc to them and it seems to drive them well. They can easily handle more power though. In conclusion, while a grand may seem like a lot for bookshelf speakers, you will not regret this purchase.

These are not only amazing looking but amazing sounding. If you plan to use these for home theater and music there really isn't much better for the price. With that said these are being discontinued so make sure to shop around for the lowest price you can find.

The SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers can compete against established audiophile speaker brands, while showcasing their unique sound quality. They excel at providing an expansive and engaging soundstage. Their ability to project satisfying center-locked vocals is admirable. These speakers were likely voiced for both music and home theater use, to highlight the sparkle of glass breaking or the zing of bullet ricochets. The SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers represent a logical choice for a listener who likes a lively, upfront, and dynamic speaker. They will thrive in a system that sees equal use for both music and movies. If you are looking for more excitement and energy in your listening experience, the SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers are worth an audition. 0 issues. The Prime's may be a better value, but these sound better. Double the price better? That is up to you.

Been a B&W fan for decades. I heard these at a friends place and purchased a pair. They kicked every pair of speaker I’ve ever owned in the butt. Absolutely crisp clean sound. The bass that comes out of these guys is very impressive as well. I liked them so much I wound up buying the ultra center, ceiling speakers and subwoofer from SVS.

First, don't be dumb like me and think that when they say "(each)" in the descriptions, they mean single speakers. This is a PAIR of bookshelf speakers. Lol, whoops. Second, these sound fantastic. Especially if you can drive them with good power (90w sounds good, but 100w even better). They pair perfectly with the Ultra center to create a unified front sound stage. A movie like Interstellar, when they enter the wormhole or are on the water planet, just sound fantastic combining the orchestra and voice/sound effects. Add in a SB-3000 sub and my mid sized theatre room was a canopy of amazing sound. I also auditioned the SVS Primes, and for the money, they are really good too. I found them a tad bit "tinny" in comparison to these. But honestly, for half the price, they are really good too.

Great looking little speakers but…the guts are cheap at least most of the parts. Full of .50 cent capacitors etc. Do some research on them and find out what ohm they really are and what kind of parts and wire they use inside. Drivers seem to be good. It’s all about money with SVS and they charge PLENTY! Their are better and cheaper alternatives out there and I wish I had found that out before I plunked down 2 grand only to then spend another 500 in upgrade kits for each speaker for the inside parts. According to my tech they should sound like they were meant to. Sooo sweeet!

Bought these and connected them to my Yamaha Aventage RX-A860 and couldn't understand why the tweeter sounded muffled and the bass low. Tried YPAO and didn't work. Called SVS Tech Support. Brian and Ryan were super awesome! They had me try some different settings (60hz, set speakers to small and change decibel levels to +3.0/+4.0) but still sounded the same. I even made sure that no other speakers were connected to the receiver so all the power could go to these two and that still didn't help. Then SVS had me send them a 30 second video to see if they could determine the problem (which they couldn't) and then suggested I go to a friend's house with a different receiver/amp to try them so I did. Went to my friend's house and he played two Definitive Technology bookshelf speakers (a quarter the size of the SVS) and they sounded crystal clear. Then he connected mine and asked right away "Why does it sound muffled?" He has a 12 year old Denon receiver which was a beast so I'm wondering if these speakers are very power hungry. If they are, I don't want to invest in a new receiver/amplifier when my Martin Logan speakers sound perfectly fine when connected to my Yamaha. I'm bummed because I also wanted purchase the Ultra Towers along with the Center Channel but they use the same tweeter so I'll pass for now. I REALLY wanted to like these but can't recommend them based on my experience. And who knows, maybe I got a lemon pair. As for SVS, they are an AWESOME company with ridiculously fantastic customer service. They went all out to try and help me solve the issue and I would like to give them credit for doing so. Five star service all day every day!

Use these as surround speakers in a 5.1 setup. They are over kill I know but tweeter matching is more important than most people realize.
