Nice somple interface. Easy setup. Connect antenna, plug into the router. Plug in. Follow basic detup, upgrade firmware, scan for channels, disable unwanted ( multiple copies of shopping channels), download first 24 hours of guide, then you are up and running. Understand default recording options. One option is to auto delete recordings after you warch them. Recording quality and streaming quality is very good. This is new tech for tablo. I already had firmware upgrades and software upgrades in the first 10 days. Streaming has improved. Works great on ROKU and Samsung phone. Still waiting for an upgrade on SONY Google tv version. No fees for use of the guide.

I am very happy with my purchase so far. Directions were easy. I downloaded the app to my iPhone. In my home office I plugged the Tablo in. I put antenna in office window. Hung Tablo on the office wall. With provided Ethernet cable I connected to the Router. Followed the directions to find channels from antenna and done. Went to the correct Tablo app on my Ruku and started recording my shows I wanted to record while I am at work. I get all the channels I get from the antenna before getting Tablo. I knew I only could get 9 channels because I live in a very wooded and mountainous area and I got all 9 of them. I am happy that I get that many, for where I am. The stations are clear and the recording look great to me. So far, so good. I was nervous, with some of the negative reviews, but I am so glad I took the chance and bought this and I hope it works for a very long time.

It’s hard to say if this product will work for you depending on where you live within the USA. But i will give you my experience based on my limited knowledge of being a recent cord cutter. My set up is a Sony xbr 800 series from 2015 paired with an antenna direct clear stream 1MAX. I live in downtown Yonkers which is about 15-17 miles away from midtown Manhattan where most of the towers are, I would get good reception without the tablo but with the new antenna my Sony tv couldn’t register a channel guide. After doing some research I went with tablo as a “Tivo” device, after months of having it there are some hiccups along the way but if you stuck with and have some patience you can enjoy HD tv and record it while your away. If your having troubles with the app go to your tv settings and force close the app along with others you aren’t using frequently and that will solve most your issues. You definitely want to use the tablo with an Ethernet plugged into it, that will allow the the device to run at an appropriate speed. After all that I’m able to I pick up around 60 plus channel's, excluding abc 7 I get almost every other local channel (2,4,5,9,11,13) your also able to get exclusive content from the parent company scripps which has a lot of content also available for recording. The interface still need a bit of help in the tv app but after watching this NFL season for free mostly in HD while also being able to record the games when I’m handling laundry or groceries shopping has been a gift lol. Looking forward for MLB season and more free tv.

I had an "AirTV" and it was nothing but frustrating. This Tablo is great. Completely set up in under 15 minutes. It grabbed 98 channels! WHAT??? Yep 98 of them. 27 of which are local. And the rest? Who knows? It's important to note that I live in a rural area 45 miles from the nearest TV transmitter, with an antenna on the roof of a one story house. Wow! I haven't tried any of the DVR functions yet (too blown away by the OTA stuff)

After reading all reviews knowing of potential issues, I went and bought it knowing I can refund it if it doesn’t work. Here are some setup tips I’ve used to set it up with the iOS 17 app (make sure to relax the iOS restriction for location services and local network access). The Ethernet connection didn’t work at setup but restarting the app worked the second time. WiFi didn’t work at setup but I’ve disabled my Norton VPN (and/or trust the Tablo WiFi network) and when it failed, I’ve noticed it lost the Tablo WiFi connection it wanted me to join and instead it went back to my primary WiFi network. I’ve went to iOS WiFI settings and reconnected to the Tablo network then resumed the app setup and WiFi worked (also, I’ve turned off auto-join and turned off private address from the Tablo network just in case). It scanned the same amount of OTA channels I expected and I’ve completed my setup by updating the firmware when prompted. As far as using it, the DVR recording and playback works just fine for me. Browsing live TV from both iPhone and iPad at the same time worked fine. Yes, there are bugs like some Live channel item is “not found” but I just click on the channel number (station icon) to access the station on iOS. I saw a message to reboot but restarting the app worked for me without a reboot (I did had to reboot once the next morning since it cound find Tablo after restarting the app). I don’t plan to use the Live TV stream from my TV devices that already have a tuner (Live TV only from iPhone/iPad for me). I have successfully used the playback DVR recording from my big Google TV with no issue which is my main usage. I only had it for a day but I’m happy. Looking forward to the Apple TV support. Great job Tablo!

4 -vs- 5 star rating for 2 reasons. First, I never saw this mentioned in the reviews or in their product description, but remote access is not available at this time for the 4th generation (white box). Per customer support, they are working on it and they will send out an update when it’s available. I spent a lot of time researching this and learned about port forwarding, but so much time could have been saved if this was published. Secondly, I could never get my Tablo device to connect via wi-fi. I even reset my modem and still it wouldn’t connect. When I connected it by Ethernet, the rest of the process went smoothly. I love their layout in the app and setting up the DVR is effortless. Even though they have 50 hours of recording time available, there is a usb-a port where you could add an additional 8gb of storage. Also, they include streaming channels available for viewing. Those channels + my local channels gives me 118 channels to view. I am happy with the product and when they come out with the update to support remote viewing, I will change my review to a 5 star review.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little skeptical about Tablo but decided to give it a try. It is everything I was looking for...and more! I am now able to record all of my favorite OTA shows and watch them whenever I want. And you can't beat the price. And there is no monthly subscription fee. This is the way to truly cut the cord!!!

I have been using Xfinity cable for about six months and all of a sudden I couldn't stream my TV package. Comcast customer service is the absolute worse so I decided to cut the cord and try Over The Air television using the Tablo TV to broadcast the TV signals to each TV in my home using one RCA antennae. I am happy to report that I get 130 channels for FREE and setup was a breeze. The quality of the picture is suprisingly clear. As a result, I can reccomend this product without reservation.

I’m 35 miles from the White Sox OTA TV station. Without the Tablo amplifier the station was usually unviewable with my 35 mile flat antenna. With the Tablo and it’s amplifier the signal sometimes breaks but is always viewable. The recording feature is reliable. The response to inputs is very slow, but not a problem for me. I’m very pleased.

Depending on your location, an external antenna can pick several channels. My antenna was able to pick 130 channels, including reconfigured table specific. Unfortunately, I noticed lags between voice and video several times. Also, you cannot watch TV if you are outside your WiFi. With SlingTV and AirTV, you can watch the local channels on your phone outside your WiFi. Here is the link if you are interested https://www.sling.com/supported-devices/airtv-mini. If there was no lag, i could have kept it.

I've had this for 5 months now and if you buy one, you're basically a beta tester for Tablo. When it works it works but when it doesn't it doesn't. This is my 5th type of dvr . From Dish Network, to Tivo to Amazon Recast to 2 Channel Masters. So I've seen them all.
It misses recordings but there is no recoding history, so you have no idea why it was missed.
It shows recording conflicts in red but the only way to find the conflict is to look at EVERY series recording to find the conflict. (I have 30 series recordings) There is no way to see a daily schedule to easily find the conflict.
I tell it to extend a recording like a game but it won't do it.
It is forever showing you the whirling wheel when you try and change what you are doing.
It is SLOW since it uses Wi-Fi to transmit the recordings and commands from the Table to your TV. This was the same issue the Amazon Recast had. This needs an HDMI Cable connection to your TV. BTW, I have 1 gig fiber WIFI. So its not me.
Most of the time, watching live TV and recording the audio and video don't sync. Tablo support told me to shorten the length of the cable from the antenna to the TV??
So, you need to remodel your house for this to work. It worked fine for 5 years with my CM DVR?
I also tried to take this with me when I was gone for a month. Unlike Roku, the Tablo app cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network unless you have to enter a password. I was in a resort that asked for a room number and last name. The other did not have a password. So could not use it for a month.
All in all they have a good idea but they should pay us to work out the problems. Tech support is worthless. Funny thing is that many of my complaints have a fix in the prior generations of Tablos according to members for the Tablo Facebook group.
Buyer beware!

I was concerned, since i knew adding a splitter to go from my antenna to both the Tablo and my Toshiba 75 Fire TV would weaken the dB signal.
Sure enough it did. So much so, that it was unusable.
Had to find my own splitter (not included).
Also it could not find and display my local stations guide completely, and had to manually record in real time, like the Super Bowl, since it would not allow me to easily select to record a upcoming show and leave it alone.
They need to work on these issues and then try again one day.

Hi - Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns about signal strength. Splitting the signal can indeed reduce overall strength, and despite the Tablo’s built-in amplifier, a more powerful antenna may be necessary. You can try connecting the antenna directly to the Tablo for better results.
Regarding guide data, we're actively working to improve its availability, especially for stations that don’t provide information to our guide provider. We are always working on improving and appreciate your patience. If you have any further issues, please feel free to reach out to our support team.

I would just like to say that I really wanted to like this product.
On paper it looked exactly like what I was looking for.
An Over The Air experience that was just like what most cable TV providers offered.
Free DVR , instant rewind and pause features, on screen menus and full TV guides.
The ability to search for TV shows and movies throughout the whole month.
The home screen has separate subcategories for suggested items to watch, live sports, recordings, Top movies, Trending shows, Featured items, Live News, upcoming sports, and several other categories.
You can record live shows, or set DVR features to record upcoming shows similar to the cable companies except you can even add a little bit of time before and after the scheduled start and end times, because some OTA shows don't exactly hit the scheduled times exactly as they should.
The unit comes with two tuners so you can watch one show and record something else, or record two different things at the same time.
You can have several streaming devices hooked up to the main unit at once, but you can still only watch 2 streams at the same time.
Now for the bad parts.
The Tablo unit has to be setup through a cellphone, it can not be setup through a streaming device.
Customer service is very limited on their experience and what they offer for answers.
They do at least try and will get back to you within a decent time frame. It took way too many days of attempting to setup the Tablo with nothing working.
It wasn't until way too much time had passed trying dozens and dozens of things that I finaly got it to work.
The first app in the app store has been relabeled as "Legacy" and their is a new app just named "Tablo". The new app is the one needed.
Be aware that for some reason the Tablo Android app interferes with other apps and the performance of your phone. I was unable to use my usual Launcher on my phone as the
home button started to not work anymore. It wasn't until
I removed the phone app that everything on my phone started to work again.
There is currently no 4th generation PC app to work with this.
The app itself works fairly well through Roku and Fire TV. The signal booster seems to
do a fair job at improving reception however reception is not guaranteed. Make sure you check the free government websites for OTA channels and possible reception in your area.
We have to constantly move our antenna based on the channels we want to watch.
The display looks good on our 4K TV with high def quality on good channels.
However, on our smaller 43" HDTV 80% of the screen is green and the show is shrunken down to a small corner of the TV. I have emailed tech support with no solution, and have been unable to find a video setting that lets you change the video output to correct this issue.
It is only on our 43" TV, and it doesn't happen on all the channels.
The Tablo experience is a great idea, but it's riddled with a lot of bugs.
I can't keep the phone app, there is no PC app, and for some reason the display is shrunken
on certain TVs with select channels.
However when the parts that do work, work pretty good. With hopefully the right updates this can be a really great product.
I would also like to add that even though this is not perfect it is one of the best attempts I have seen so far for an OTA cable experience.

This is what I've been looking for in order to get rid of cable TV! Love the menu's interface and the ability to record programs and watch later. It does have a few annoying bugs that I'm hoping will be fixed with updates but nothing that's making me regret buying it. I guess at this price point its not going to be perfect but I'm saving a lot of money and I'm fine with that!

If you have a "smart TV", this product may work. I did not, so I needed a Roku device to give me the HDMI signals for my TV. Unfortunately, Tablo's website (see picture) falsely showed that I could buy a Roku Express to fit the bill. It didn't work, and Tablo's & Roku's tech supports were both worthless. I had to find the answer as to WHY it didn't work from Reddit, of all places. I urged Tablo to remove the Roku Express from their website, and they did. Too bad the website was wrong (see picture), because I relied on that false information, and the resulting experience has been excruciating.
So I ordered a Roku Express 4K+. But before it's even been delivered, this product quit working completely. So I'm now returning it to BestBuy for a full refund. I will also have to ship back the Roku Express and the Roku Express 4K+ at my expense and then wait for the refunds.
I've already wasted 10 days fighting with this defective product before finally giving up completely. I hope no one else has to go through my horrible experience. Good luck!

Sign-in and network errors galore! It was so bad setting it up, I didnt even get the chance to do any channel scanning as I am afraid it my take 2 business days for it to complete. I only got far to updating the tablo firmware and the app froze and then Im lucky if I even get to login the app again. Its absolutely horrible because I didnt even get a chance to test the harware itself. The software was so bad that it rendered the hardware a dud. Dont be fooled by the quick setup as it wasn’t user friendly. I wished it worked the first and second time. Worst part is Tablo live agents dont work on the weekends so dont bother setting it up if you have any issues on the weekend! I love the concept of streaming OTA on multiple TVs and the DVR option is plus, if only the APP WORKED. #SAD.
