I shoot a lot of wildlife photography, some landscape & flowers. I have grown attached to this lens. It is on my beginner camera, Cannon rebel T7. This lens will sometimes disappoint & not focus on what I want it to focus on. But using this lens for as long as I have almost everyday, I am extremely impressed with it. Being a wildlife photographer it is already challenging to get that perfect shot that you want but I am getting better every day & would recommend this lens to anyone! It is weightless (compared to other lens I see) & perfect for traveling. I always have it around my shoulder & got a crossbody strap for it when im outside & taking walks. I always get so many compliments on the lens as well. The range is incredible for shooting wildlife & landscape. I can pretty much capture anything with it. Sometimes the wildlife is too far away for the animal to be in focus all of the time which can be pretty frusterating for me but I sharpen all of my photos through LR. But if the object is closer to you and you zoom all the way in it is GOLDEN. I even have snapped pics of little bugs and they have turned out amazing for it not even being a micro lens. If you are looking for something weightless & to travel with to take landscape and shoot some wildlife I would recommend this for you.

For the price its not to bad. Little heavy for my R50 but does the job. Focus quick, but when handheld it may take just a little longer to focus again just a little. Special for the price point. It was a choice between this and the Canon 100-400 and end up with this one the Tamron 18-400 for the seal and variaty. First photo is on the Canon and second is Tamron. Both handheld at about 60feet

Great lens, much lighter than my canon 18-200mm lens and surprisingly the same size about my canon. So I have now worries in fitting this gear in my same bag. Bought this based on some of the neutral reviews on the basis of what it can do vs. cannot. Really worth for the price and I am able to make it work per the need! Still a lot to explore with this lens.

I just got into photography, and let me tell you, this camera lense is definitely beginner friendly, it has a perfect range between close ups and far away. I hardly ever have to switch between lenses, I can just use this one for everything it’s amazing! Absolutely would recommend to everyone! Not even just beginners, everyone should have these lenses! They have an option for canon and Nikon.

So far I am really happy with this lens. I use it on my Canon 60D and my Sony A6000 with an adapter. At 400 mm it needs to be tripod mounted but I expected that. It's fairly heavy but pulls in far away subjects very well. It will prove to be a great carry around lens because of the focal lengths. Looking forward to more shots with it! I added a couple images to show what a great job it does in the widest and zoomed in mode. Both images taken with the Canon.

I wasn't too happy with this lens when first purchased and almost returned it, as everything I shot was soft, but between DPP 4.3 and Photoshop I am now getting sharp photos. It is a bit heavy and I find holding it steady at longer zooms to be a bit challenging but this too can be overcome. As I have used this lens and learned its quirks my photos have gotten better. It is a capable, versatile lens that has a lot to offer, so I would recommend it. Be sure to give yourself time to adjust to using it before making any judgement calls Please don't rely on the thumbnails to make any judgements on the quality of photos with this lens.

Tamron 18-400mm All-in-One Lens for Canon

I love to hike and take pictures. One of the biggest things I don't like about that is having to carry multiple lenses. Changing lenses in a less that perfect environment and perhaps missing that perfect shot because you don't have the right lens attached. The Tamron lens is a near perfect solution for that. 18mm for the landscape pictures and 400mm to get up an close. And a whole range of options in between. I have only had it a few weeks, but I love it. Fast focus, nice crisp, clean images. No hassle with constantly changing out lenses. Good image stabilization if you're hand shooting. The only con, it's not bad, but the lens sometimes struggles a little with focus at 400mm, but if you're shooting long you'll probably be using a tripod and manually focusing anyway. I would highly recommend this lens!

I was skeptical buying off-brand, but the price and reviews were very enticing. I'm impressed with the quality of the photos. The times I used it were on overcast days and evening hours, with the use of a tripod I was able to get good-quality photos on max zoom. Haven't used it for any lunar shots, that's my next test for it. I'd recommend this lens if you want decent-quality shots on a budget.

This is my first glass purchase, moving away from the kit lenses. And I am so happy with my decision too. It is super quiet in AF, which is pretty quick to do. A bit sensitive, so you may need to go MF if there is a lot of clutter in front of your subject. The telephoto is quite impressive, while the macro is pretty good too. I'm so happy with this lens that I will have plenty of time before wanting to get my next big lens.

Great lens with a crazy range. I only wish it could be a little sharper. But there’s reason this lens is the price it is. And when you have such a huge zoom range you’re compromising on image quality.

I already had a 600 mm Sigma lens, but it is very heavy and requires a tripod for many shots. I decided to buy this 400 mm lens (forgoing 200 mm focal length for a lighter lens). While it is less heavy, it isn't exactly light. I do get a camera shake icon on some shots. However, I have been able to obtain adequate photos without needing a tripod as often. I've included a photo I took on this cloudy, overcast evening (without a tripod). The settings were f/6.3, shutter 1/2000 seconds, ISO 800, focal length 300 mm. I never would have been able to capture the shot with my 600 mm lens. I am pleased with my purchase. I would recommend it to others who want a decent lens without spending a fortune.

Grabbed this lens a few days before leaving for a transpacific cruise from Tokyo across to Vancouver. As a previous Tamron owner, I expected a good experience with this long reach, and, except for one problem, was very pleased with the results. When I can let it go for warranty service, Tamron will fix a binding issue whike zooming through 50 to 60%. IF it bothers me enough to send it in. I have six years...
