Good value all-in-one lens, bought it to take on trips so that there would be no lens swapping required. It does great on my very old (14 year old) Nikon D90. Don't depend on it actually going the full 400mm very well, but beyond 300mm, it is great. Likely better on a modern camera. For the money, you won't find anything better. Image of bird running away from me was almost at the limit (near 400mm), not too bad.

Theis telephoto lens is great, exactly what I needed. Great for taking photos of nature and landscape. I have a Nikon Z 50 and it does not fit, you would have tu buy an adapter. I also have a Nikon D5200 and for that one it fits and works perfectly. I love it and it is exactly what I needed.

If you’re not a fan of switching out lenses, this is the lens for you. Most of the time people complain about image quality with these types of wide range zoom lenses, but I’m definitely happy with the clarity and sharpness throughout the zoom range.
The lens isn’t too big or heavy either. Makes it great for hiking / biking. It’s also weather and dust resistant which is invaluable in the field. It feels solid in the hand. Tamron really nailed it with this lens. I’ll post a few sample images. Shot with a Nikon D7500...

Superior function, picture resolution, mechanical quality. Autofocus feature seems slow. Photographing birds in flight requires patience. Often time subject will be out of view before autofocus completes. A tad on the heavy side, but well balanced. The lens is long at full zoom position which limits one handed photographing. You can utilize the extended part of the lens to help balance your camera while filming.

As a beginner with DSLR camera, I find this lens to be absolutely perfect. I love the fact that I do not need to switch lenses to capture both close up and distance shots. I’ve been testing it out on wild horses and loving how well it performs. I do not find the lens to be heaving. It works great with my Nikon D5100. The lens was very budget friendly.

Idk what ppl are talking about... this lens does NOT go to 400mm.
I have a 70 - 300mm lens, and this Tamron lens doesn’t go to 400mm !!
Very disappointed !!
Returning this weekend !!
I’ve added 4 pics to prove it.
Notice the difference between
100mm - 200mm....and 200mm - 300mm.
Where’s that same difference between
300mm - 400mm ???
Not found !!

This lens is great for both wide angle shots and zooming in on distant shots. It is a great all purpose lens . Only have had it for a short time, but so far I am very happy with the lens. In the past I had to carry multiple lenses and switch them out in the field or carry multiple cameras with the different lenses.

for the money - heck yes. I use it with my Nikon d500 and while it is not an FX full frame lens, what it does do is enough. it'll get you by - especially for the price. i was looking to spend $2300 and this will keep me from doing that until I absolutely have to. so yeah. hold it very steady - it may have auto focus but it needs a good grip to turn out anything decent. the zoom function has helped me out a lot so far!

I've taken a number of test shots with my Nikon D7200 and the results so far are very good except - as expected - out toward 400mm. Photos are sharp form edge to edge from 18mm to over 300mm. And the build seems to be decent. We'll see how it holds up.

Whole this lens might not be the fastest (it can take a little longer than the Nikon lenses I have) to focus and be a shade heavier and larger to carry around, it more than makes up for it in the range.
I took this lens to a major league ball game, and was able to not only focus in on the players out about 400 feet away, but was also able to take a photo of the people I was with. Not many other lenses on the market can do this.
The lens takes a 72mm filter - first thing I did was put a UV filter on to protect the front glass = which will require getting another set of ND filters to fit. Other than that I love this lens so far.

The lens is easy to use and takes good pictures. I compared it to the Nikon 55-300 lens that came with the camera and there was no noticeable difference in the quality of the pictures, only a slightly better zoom. I was hoping for a more noticeable difference in the zoom, but the real benefit is having one lens that can shoot near and far. It is a little heavy, as you would expect, but not unmanageable. It takes more effort to operate zooming in or out than the Nikon lens.

I'm glad I bought it. It has problems - like sometimes the autofocus won't work when it's zoomed out all the way, so I have to back it off a tad and then it works, Also, it only does well in well lit areas. If the lighting is dim, no luck. The flash in those instances is too much, and any of my other cameras doesn't have this problem. The quality of the image is terrific and I love the zoom!

I really like this lense for photographing my kids sports. It's got a little weight to it but overall takes great photos and works really well for larger field sports like soccer and football.

Better than Nikon 18-300

For about the same price as the Nikon 18-300mm this lens is the better buy since it can go 100mm more. But it's actually about 600mm on a crop sensor Nikon which is a plus. I did notice lens distortion at 18mm but that was expected with these type of lens. Overall I'm impressed and very pleased with this.

For what it is designed to do, this is a good lens. Some so called experts put down the quality and capabilities, perhaps because they are very active users, or have the resources to purchase the expensive Nikon lenses. For a relative novice, like me, it's perfect.
