I recently purchased this TV for a bedroom. It took some tweaking to get it setup to my liking. I set the picture to movie mode and adjusted the color temperature. By default movie mode was a bit too warm, I prefer cooler tones. The Panel does have some backlight bleed , mostly noticeable in dark areas, but nothing drastic. The speakers are acceptable for a TV in this price range, however if you plan on casting music I would add a sound bar. I prefer Google TV (Android TV) over other smart TV OS alternatives. On my Primary TV i use a Shield TV which is Android TV based However out of the box the TV is definitely a bit sluggish even with the latest firmware version. I set the TV to app only mode and I could definitely see a performance improvement. However setting it to app only mode disables google assistant which is needed to access the google play store via voice command. Not sure why google decide to remove the Google Play Store icon form home screen when they re branded to Google TV. I had to install a custom Play store icon so that I could access the app store at anytime while in app only mode. I suppose if you download all the necessary app and set it to app only mode you will be fine. Adjusting the animation scale in developer mode improved the performance of the tv as well, I set all the animations to .5x. Before using / enabling developer mode I would probably read about it on the various android sites that are available. To conclude, I would recommend this TV primarily for bedroom use , if you are looking to buy your first smart tv , maybe go with TCL Roku TV instead. If you like using the Android Platform and don’t mind tweaking a few things this is a good buy. Overall I am happy with my purchase and wouldn't mind trying out a higher end TCL TV when the times comes.

Bought this for an opening in our indoor bar area, and was a perfect fit. I got an amazing price on it, and it was an easy setup and has way more features than I was expecting on a TV under $200 this size. Highly recommend if you're looking for a TV this size.

While suffering through a different brands TV that actually didn’t have a QAM tuner in it, Best Buy hooked me up with this TCL model. I originally accidentally ended up with the Roku, which I detest those and instead I got the Google TV finally and they definitely took care of me to make sure it was right. I am STILL playing with the menus on the unit, so much in here between live TV, converted cable, Streaming channels to HDMI ports you wouldn’t believe how much is in here! You can tweak just about anything you want, it performs fantastically and the remote is rather unique because it has the volume control and the mute on the side instead of the front so that’s the first time I’ve ever seen that and it does really work like a term I’d almost prefer that every future remote I have puts those like that like that as it gives you more buttons on the face for doing other things. Very “configurable” TV, TCL is a solid brand that actually shows you what you need to do to configure things and the remote is even very configurable via an app, so this is well worth it at the price point in almost any size for working with almost any device you have!

    QC and design flaw

Received the 43S446 yesterday. Two major problems. 1. A random line flashes across the screen, sometimes during power up initialization, sometimes when I watch the TV, as the attached picture shows. This seems a quality control issue. 2. By design, the TV speakers should shut off automatically when a headphone is plugged into the headphone jack. When I plug in a SONY MDR-ZX110, the TV speakers shut off as designed. But when I plug in a Sennheiser HD202 or a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX, the TV speakers won't shut off. Sound comes out of both TV speakers and Sennheiser/Klipsch simultaneously. This seems a design flaw. My old Insignia TV's headphone jack works properly no matter which headphone I plug in.

This TV is trash. It had a internal malfunction after a year of minor use. This is my second TCL TV to malfunction after a year and out of the manufacturer factory warranty. My advice is save your money and buy a Samsung or any other brand.

I love this TCL 43" Class 4 Series LED 4K Smart TV! It was the perfect size for my daughter's room and looks great mounted on the wall! The visual graphics are crystal clear, with deep blacks and vibrant colors! It is easy to navigate through the Google menu and all of the apps are handily displayed!

Reading reviews it sounded great but picture is poor very pixelated on dark colors. Colors are just OK. You need a sound bar because sound is poor. The cost went down two days after I purchased it and Best Buy wouldn’t match it so be warned.

The set has a decent quality picture, but the processing performance and speed is lacking, especially for how it scales up low quality content and motion, the TV also suffers from dirty screen effect and uniformity issues, but it's perceptibly brighter compared to the similarly classed Samsung TU7000. It's basic at its core, and the OS is average and isn't super snappy. There's bugs, glitches and random mishaps throughout its use, and sometimes interferes with viewing and enjoying content, such as random audio cut outs, audio/video stutters and EMI noise through the the headphone jack, or MEMC not working right at times, or having random compatibility issues with certain content and apps. The latest update fixed one or few problems, while introducing more random OS/performance issues. The build quality is decent with metal on the back, but the frame is s little cheap feeling, the HDMI and USB ports are solid, but the other ports are very loose and plugs can come out easily, or can't be fully seated properly because of the design and materials of the ports, such as the optical and audio jacks. For the price, it's relatively good for a standard small 4k TV, and some movies, but this TV has a new model now, which I heard could be worse. It's hard to find a quality 43" TV, they're simply not on the market, and if there are, they are too expensive for the screen size compared to a 50-55".

I got this tv on sale, got points, got more points for using BB card. Happy with the price but it's a great Tv at it's price point either way. Great picture even when it's not 4K, excellent when it is 4K. Good sound for when it's not hooked up to sound bar. Comes with Google tv - a great centralized app/hub/menu for all your selected streaming services. Easy setup. 3 hdmis and an optical on the back. I don't love the remote but I think I can get use to it. Oh one night it turned on by itself and the next day the volume shot up about half way loud after being very low. I reset it that day and made sure the remote (not the remote control) access was off and haven't had any more issues. I would recommend, especially if it's on sale. Oh FYI it works with Google home but not Alexa - I'd give 5 star rating if it did.

Really enjoyed this tv, the picture quality is awesome for the price and speakers are pretty loud which I loved, clear sound. Only downside was that the display brightness doesn’t go up very high, I wish it could be a bit brighter. Gave the tv to a family member who prefers not so bright tv, she loves it.
