Setup was quick, maybe 25 minutes from opening box to ready for use. Video quality is great, I tweaked the visual settings for a brighter look (default is darker) but that is up to personal preference and room light. Sound is fine, I don't own a sound bar so to me it sounds like any other TV I've had. Roku interface is amazing. Bery fast and easy to use with tons of apps. I mainly use it to play on my Xbox One X, and everything looks crisp and games play great.

This TV replaced our old panasonic plasma one at a fraction of the price. This is the 4th TCL series 6 TV we have in our home. We have 2 - 75 inch , 1 - 65 inch and now this 55 inch. In hindsight I would have gotten another 65 inch but the TV stand was too small. We will likely get a TV wall mount and put this TV on the wall. The colors are great, it powers on quickly and it has a Roku for all my needs.

The HD picture quality this TV produces exceeded our expectations. The ROKU interface is easy to use with many free channels available. Would definitely recommend using a soundbar as the TV speakers are average at best.

Check out the specifications its got a LOT of tech and supports Dolby Atmos Dolby Vision and many others. 2.1 or 5ghz wireless or a direct LAN connection. Owen this model for over a month now, mounted on my living room wall. Picture quality is GORGEOUS ESPECIALLY IN DOLBY VISION. An absolute great deal for $549.00.

Now.. this led is MY BABY, my only gripe - lack of 120hz @4k
Dirty screen effects, horrible viewing angles. Could use an upgraded processor/card.
Missing some features I prefer as a gamer. But, this is the ultimate entry level gaming tv imo.

TV is pretty good. Picture is beautiful. Roku sometimes gets confused and continuously restarts. Only pulling the plug and plugging it back in seems to fix the confusion.
About BestBuy, they offered the same product for $80 cheaper than when I bought it. The lower price was offered on 12/2 online. I tried to get the price match in accordance with their promise. The quick form to request said they couldn't. The chat agents option never connected me with an agent. (When I retried, it told me they were closed.) Now the website tells me they offer no pricematch on this product.
I guess my general impression is that they are kind of cheaters. And I do not recommend relying on BestBuy's word. Sad.

Nice looking TV for a decent price. Unfortunately, my screen had multiple cracks right out of the box. There was not damage to the box or external damage on the screen, just cracks on the inside. Some cracks were under black protective pads, so it might be damaged before packaging.
I recommend to check it at the store or right upon arrival, as the screen seems to be very fragile.

I received this TV today and was excited to set it up. The picture quality is great for the money, except for the paper sticker that they decided to put right on front of the screen that doesn't peel off without leaving residue...am I going crazy or is this a silly manufacturing choice?

This model is pretty similar to the R615/617 models of last year but on steroids. I was in the market for a new 4k HDR Quantum Dot TV at an affordable price but options are super limited and I was not happy with available options out there. The comparable Quantum Dot M series Vizio model has less dimming zones, no motion interpolation and brightness is just okay. The Hisense H9F would have been exactly what I was looking for but only has 2 HDMI ports (really, what the heck).
Enter the TCL R625 Quantum LED TV. This TV has an extra HDMI port which is an upgrade over last years model at 3 HDMI ports, same brightness or better from what I can tell and has the motion interpolation (soap opera effect) option and upgraded processor. This TV is the promised land.
I saw this TV available on the best buy website and immediately rushed to go pick one up! I can tell you that I am not disappointed. I was worried about the slight backlight flickering from last years model but I couldn't find any. Everything about this TV is amazing and compared to my non HDR model 4K TV M55 Vizio, it runs circles around it in every way. The colors pop, the brightness while specs are not confirmed seem to be as good or better than last years while somehow looking way more natural than the Hisense (comparison based on reviews hitting the youtube). I didn't notice any color banding and my panel seemed to be flawless with no clouding, dirty screen effect or distractions from picture quality.
I mainly use the TV for console gaming, (xbox one x, PS4 Pro, Switch) after some testing I can tell you that there is very little to no noticeable input lag with gaming mode on comparing to my 2015 Vizio M55, the Vizio handles like a fat sloth even with low latency gaming mode enabled plus causes games to look a bit washed out. The colors/brightness on this TV with Dolby Vision HDR for me was like a whole new world, I found myself mesmerized and really immersed in my gaming sessions, noticing colors being ultra vibrant, colors I've never seen before or have been too muted in my previous TV gaming sessions. HDR enabled games really do make a difference on this TV to justify a side-grade from 4k to 4k TV, even non HDR games really popped. Ark Survival Evolved is a really good example of night and day differences in color. I fired up Red Dead Redemption 2 on my Xbox One X, the world of Red Dead really came alive. Sunlight within the game looked so natural and bright that it felt kind of weird for me, like I was actually outside on the most beautiful of days enjoying a picturesque landscape.
I watched 4k movies with Dolby Vision HDR and as you would expect, what a treat. I still have a lot more to do on this thing but all of the above was really a quality day one experience.
The Remote is your standard Roku remote but I like them as they are small simple to use and straight to the point. The only thing I dislike about my roku remotes are when I fall asleep with them in the bed, I tend to roll over on them and the TV comes on. The only thing I found odd about this TV but ended up not minding was the placement of the feet which are directly on the sides of this unit. Make sure you have enough room on your TV stand because it's going to need the entire width of the TV.
I am sure there are probably a lot more things added to this TV this year that I have still yet to discover but as far as Quantum LED TV's go around 600 dollar price range, I can't imagine this will be beat for now until the next technology refresh. The only other thing I would like to find out about this panel is if it is a 60hz or true 120hz panel, I am suspecting it is a 60hz panel but at this price range that is usually par for course.

I spent most of yesterday morning evaluating the flat panels in the sub 1000 dollar range. The TCL's quickly stood out, the smooth Roku UI was an early draw, ditto for the HDR capability.
The issue was I had no real idea how big the screen was...see I'd been putting off this purchase for nearly 2 years. I finally got the 100 lb 24" CRT monster that stayed , useless in my bedroom since before the year 2000. Yes...I don't really watch "tv" but internet browsing is a lot more fun on a bigger screen...so I wanted to get one soon.
I thought a screen of 55" would be ok but opted for the 65" when I ordered this model yesterday...well boy was I wrong on size! The 65" was huge...it was so big it couldn't fit in my friends car who drove to Best Buy with me to pick it up.
It simply was too big...so after unboxing it in the parking lot and failing to get it in the car, we reboxed it and went right back to the store to get a replacement. Thankfully replacing it was a trivial proces...the agents unboxed it, inspected it and then proceeded to process the refund (a reduction of 217 relative to the 65") and then go fetch the 55".
That model was much more reasonable but is still a huge screen...you have to understand my bedroom is small and this thing easily takes up half the rooms width along the short side!
I was happy to have it and after getting home put it up, it was easy to get going following the instructions carefully not to touch the screen (I was the only one doing it and being about 6'0 and fit it wasn't unwieldy).
Turning it on revealed it's a super sharp and vibrant screen...though there is loss off angles because it's so big a funnel about 8 feet across at 6 feet distant with no real loss is still possible so you can get a lot of people in front of this experiencing a similar level of viewing quality.
As I mentioned the Roku UI was a major give me, it's super fast, well designed and some what customizable (I immediately changed the theme to "graphite") I spent the rest of the night installing apps and finally got screen casting from my mobile device to work for both browser web pages as well as other supported files on my phone.
I also decided to attach a portable usb hdd that I keep media files on and was quickly playing blue ray videos using roku's media player. It's a bit slow but I am sure that's mostly due to the fact that my portable usb is an actual spinning disk and not an SSD...will likely get an ssd model for faster response soon.
Finally, the picture quality, color, light balance are all the real deal. I read the Rtings.com review before pulling the trigger and this model gets consistently high ratings across the board...save for the viewing angles and that for me is not an issue from the distance I view the screen.
I don't have any game devices so can't say anything about HDR games or screen lag but it's got rave reviews for super low latency in this regard so if I do get a hankering for a game system later I should be fine.
I am rather happy I waited nearly 2 years to make the purchase...all told after the refund from the 65 I'll only be paying some 570$ for this huge high quality panel. I'd only feel bad after black friday and the price gets cut further in a few weeks but oh well...it's well worth it even at this price.
