Fantastic TV for a Fantastic price

It seems this TV is permanently on sale ever since the new generation came out and the new price is fantastic. Bright colors and very inky blacks for a non-oled TV. HDMI 2.1 is perfect for using this for gaming if that's what you want. I don't have much to say about the built in speakers because I have my own stereo setup but I feel most people spending over $500 on their TV will buy a soundbar or stereo anyways but the little I did use them they sounded alright. The 120hz is fantastic and there is little smearing however light does bleed around bright objects on dark backgrounds but thats to be expected on a TV from this proce range, along with the meh upscaling. The TV does get slow after a while and that can be fixed by turning off fast start or whatever it's called because by default, instead of fully turning off, the TV only goes into a sleep mode which eventually fills up it's system memory. Hoelwevr turning off fast start the TV fully turns off which clears it's RAM and it runs like new each time it's turned on. I've only had the TV for almost a month so not long enough for a super comprehensive review but those are my thoughts.

I did a lot of research before picking this Tv a few things that surprised me , Reflection handling isn't as good as Rtings reviews say.. Yeah it defuses light but it makes this weird star effect when doing so.. (pic below) The viewing angles are much better than in the Rtings reviews say.. I'd say even at around 50-60 degrees still watchable.. The processing.. I really wasn't looking for this when I picked it.. But surprised me on the 5 series lots of old low res content was basically so ugly it was unwatchable.. This Tv does a good job cleaning it up and removing pixellation.. This is a must have if you like to watch old TV shows from the 90's like I do... HDR pop ,3D effect is great once you get the Tv settling dialed in.. but I expected that... since it has good brightness and miniled. I got this as an upgrade from a TCL 5 series from the same year (s546).. The choices were this , u7k , TCL Q7 or the OLED LG A2. I went with this mainly because it was the cheaper option out of all of these. but also because all the other Tv's have some major weakness I couldn't look past. The TCL Q7 has great constant but it brightness and color volume is very similar to the 5 series so not a good upgrade. The OLED A2 was 50% more money.plus it's a very dimm Tv that's bad at handling glare.. Also a deal braker for me since I need a Tv for daytime viewing. The U7k was the closest but it has banding issues.. weak native contrast but better contrast with local dimming.. Plus cost more money.. The R646 was the only one that had good everything across the board.. So while it may lose to the other Tv here and there . (even loses to my old 5 series in terms of contrast alone) Overall it's a better overall Tv. You really can't get a better overall Tv without paying at least x2 as much...

Had the TV for around half a month and I am impress and amazed. Probably one of the best TV on this price at the $400 deal. Google OS is not that bad as review make it be and is convenient. Being someone that is tech savvy, I really didn't care about the OS and I just wanted the Panel for my PC and PS5. But the fact that I don't have to use my Amazon stick or keep PC on to use steaming apps is a plus. The colors are great out of the box and it looks fantastic compared to my 10 years old 1080P 32 inch TV. Then again it looks better it also looks better than my IPS 40 inch 3440x1440p monitor. When the scene is dark... it really looks dark. MiniLED is the best option aside from OLED without the burning risk and the higher price tag. Due to location of of TV I hardly ever use it above 40% brightness and mostly stays around 28-30%. Can't imagine how bright i can actually get. The 120hz and VRR support were great for the $400 price tag it had. TV barely fits my stand but it does great. Also Had to buy a TV stand as I needed the to be able to swivel it as well as to get a bit space under for the Soundbar. My only grime is that it only has 2 hdmi 2.1 with 4k 120hz support and one of them is for ARC too. Had to hook the sound bar with optical instead as I didn't mind having to use two controllers but didn't wanted to loose the other port. I had to go like through 12 HDMI 2.1 cable to find one that worked as intended ($20 per 10ft cable... -_-... don't cheap out on cables) Also I had and issue with VRR which was fixed. Using VRR would make screen stutter when trying to output higher than 60hz and then loose signal. Same on PC as screen would flicker on an on until change to 60hz. This happen the next day after testing and using it perfectly. Seem like update mess up the settings . I reach out to TCL about it they provided some steps to test and fix the issue. I just couldn't had imagen removing all cables and Powe cycling fixed. I Powe cycle everything but the TV as it had been installed just the day before Since then I haven't had this issue anymore.

Awesome TV couldn't have asked for anything better for a TV. It is very impressive with good brightness contrast sharpness and clarity. I'm not sure what other people are complaining about the OS not being responsive or glitchy but it's really fast I downloaded the update right out of the box and it has been working smooth for me. Not broken screen or DOA. The TV is impressive for the price. I've seen TVs with OLED as well as I own a phone with OLED. With this TCL model you can't really tell it's not an OLED. It tricked me very good that's how good it looks. The blacks are, black. A plus for the mini LED technology and I would say awesome Dolby vision. The only issues I had with it so far is connecting my laptop to the TV it via HDMI 2.0. I tried to connect and disconnect various times to no avail. This happens randomly. To where I'm playing steam games. And signal gets lost. I hope it's not a faulty TV. But I'm suspecting it might be the TV input. Or it can be a faulty HDMI cable that I have? I ordered a HDMI 2.1 cable to see if this resolves the problem. That is my only gripe with this TV out of the box. It worked for a while then it stopped. Unless it's my laptop? Frustrating. Otherwise a good TV.

I have been sniping this tv for ages. 120fps. 4k. Mini qled. Its bright. Not clear like a oled but it does what it does amazingly well. I advise if you want one to go for it if you want a cheap gaming tv. Tip: use after market firmware for better picture quality

Love my miniLED TCL Google TV

Love this TV! I fist bought a very budget Westinghouse, it was not good. I then bought the cheapest budget LG OLED and it “didn’t look right to me”. Finally I got this one and it looked and sounded great right out of the box. I think this miniLED looks better than that LG. LG’s higher end OLEDs are good, but their budget aimed models seem off to me, I was calibrating and adjusting settings and it never looked “right” to me. The brushed aluminum frame is a nice touch over the typical black plastic. The built in speaker is great and delivers full, clear sound with bass, not “tinny” at all like many built in speakers. More than fine for the small bedroom I’m using it in. I like the Google TV interface as well, much more than the Roku or Samsung or LG UIs. A year and a half later and I’m still loving it, looks great and I’m very happy with it. We got a bigger 5 series TCL in the living room after this and it’s great too. My advice is unless you have the budget for a high end OLED, skip it and get a miniLED for less.

I can’t lie, this is the most badass tv I’ve ever had. I spent days researching to make sure I would find the best tv for my budget and it was just so worth it. You get 120hz refresh rate which is awesome for gaming or sports but also it’s got google in it so everything is super user friendly. I purchased the 5 year protection plan just to be safe but you really can not go wrong with this purchase. I hope after reading this, you end up experiencing this beautiful work of art like I did and still do !:). P.S. The sound bar connected to the bottom of the tv is amazing, great sound quality and bass. I was super surprised by that and feels like your almost at the movie theater!

So I looked and looked for a decently priced TV that was capable of running the x box series x at its full capacity. (4k at 120hz, Dolby vision, hdr10 4k at 120fps, 4k10bit) This tv does it all! And it has access to the whole google play store. This tv also has the steam link app that works perfectly. OLED TVs are the newest tech and certainly the best TVs out right now due to having the true black coloring contrast but these mini q-led TVs are the brightest! If you're like me and want the brightest, most vivid colors, you literally can't beat the mini q-leds. Long story short, I bought the last one of these in the valley at the time. And I now know why this tv was so hard to find. It's exactly what I was looking for, for my x box series x!

Great TV that is bright and well lit (thanks to local dimming). Google tv is a plus though it can have a slight stutter at times. The WiFi is one of the gripes I have with this tv. Streams services lag at time but luckily it has Ethernet port. Lagging issues disappeared after using the Ethernet cable. Refresh rate is 120hz and picture quality is really good. Audio is good too.

This tv looks great and is great for video games. I use the 120hz mode on cod and fortnite and it feels smooth. I do have an issue when sometime my tv is slow to turn off and on. I usually just unplug the cord but is weird and inconvenient. Also sometimes the tv will flicker in and out which happens during gaming sometimes and is not fun.

First I want to say, I can’t believe how much tv’s have gone down in price. This tv has exceeded my expectations for under $600. Pros: Picture quality - colors pop and are bright. Look great while video gaming Aesthetics - unobtrusive design with barely any bezel; fits my stand perfectly Sound - decent sound for not having a soundbar Cons Contrast - this is not an OLED, but it performs decently Google OS - not an issue since I use my Apple TV Remote - I hate that thing Overall I recommend because as a display, it does what it needs to do

This TV has one of the best pictures for a budget/midtier TV available. I have this TV mounted above an A80J and use it to watch two sports at once. I got a good panel (no DSE) and blooming is almost non-existent. This TV has Google TV interface, and the apps can be slow, or cause motion glitches, which is why I gave it 4 stars. If you tack on an external streamer, and use that, there are no objectionable issues with this TV. I am not a gamer, but it has all the features needed for that. The TV can get obnoxiously bright if you want it to, so viewing HDR movies or putting it in a bright room will not be an issue. I have had failures with cheap TCLs, so bought the 5 yr warranty for peace of mind, but this TV seems built very good. Picture shows 77A80J below, and 55R646 above for comparison

Design: Great looking TV. The brushed metal frame gives it a very premium look. If I saw this in someone else's home, I would think it was over $1000. My father-in-law has an expensive Samsung that has only a plastic frame Features: excellent picture quality and capabilities. Streaming with the built-in software runs super smooth with no issues whatsoever. This was the only TV I could find in this price range with 120fps. The colors look fantastic

I have seen test results that show the TLC 6 Series/R646 2021 as the fourth-best TV TLC has produced. I used what I learned from those results and bought the TCL (R646) brand new from Best Buy for $399. The information I received from those test results was spot on. The information I got rated it an 8.0 for mixed usage, an 8.7 for gaming, an 8.4 for PC use, and an 8.1 for HDR movies. A rating of 7.5 or above is good to excellent. The picture colors and contrast are great with Dolby Vision, and the sound is immersive with Dolby Atmos. The dark contrast is excellent for a non-OLED TV, and there is no worrying about image burn-in. This TV has advanced gaming features like variable refresh rate (VRR) support and two HDMI 2.1 bandwidth inputs. It's designed to take full advantage of the Xbox Series X and PS5. The HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for 4K @ 120Hz is perfect for gaming with low input lag. Lastly, watching HDR content is impressive because it displays a wide color gamut and gets bright enough to make highlights pop. The price was 20%- 40% cheaper than anything I found, with specs and image quality close to those I just described. BEST DEAL FOR THE PRICE. Best Buy even refunded me $30 when I found a cheaper price online. I have had it for 15 months with no problems and am very happy with my choice. Thank you, Best Buy

It was either this or the Hisense U7H. I was impatient and got the TCL r646. I am VERY PLEASED all around!! The picture and sound are both great! The Google system is easy to navigate (and sideloading apps is a breeze, bye bye Firestick lol) Gaming is on another level compared to my last tv, which was a standard LG 4k led. If an OLED isn't in your budget, mini-led is definitely the way to go!

I'm not a huge TV buff, but I was looking for a 4K TV for my PS5 during the black friday sales. Did a bunch of research and came across this one. Coming from a 13-year old 32" 1080p, this TV has really changed gaming on my console. Colors are beautiful. The picture is very sharp. Motion in games is fluid. So far, I've played both Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part 1 with this TV, both in fidelity mode, and they look stellar on it. The built-in speakers are also very nice. I saw a few reviews for this particular set that mentioned they decided to not use a sound bar for this TV, and I can see why. The audio is crisp and, in a bedroom, has a nice volume even at low volume. As for the TV itself, it appears to be well made. It's reasonably heavy for its size with a nice metallic frame. I haven't had any noticeable issues with picture quality or technical issues. A couple of negatives: the rubber pieces on the feet are brittle and one broke apart upon placing the TV on my dresser. This won't be an issue for long, because I plan on mounting it. Also, game mode, which automatically activates for the PS5, changes the color temperature to fully warm by default. I was able to go into settings and change the color temperature to neutral, and I no longer have yellow whites. Overall, I don't think console gamers really need to worry about getting something more flashy than this television. Especially on sale, this TV gives the PS5 more bang for its buck.

TV is great for the price, likely the best you can get right now in November 2023. Video quality is great, I never imagined this much quality from TCL OVER my 2 year old Samsung Q80. I'm a perfectionist though so I will point a few negatives out, the VRR seems to glitch my PS5 out it will rapidly keep losing the HDMI signal and recovering it non-stop until I turn off VRR. And there's something weird with movement and blurriness on very specific scenes, still messing with settings. However, That blurriness is not present playing Fortnite.
