Probably because it has Keanu in it. He's really not all THAT bad in this movie. Maybe just because I'm a Sci-Fi nerd, but this movie is great and I have come back to watch it at least 4 times since it's release years ago. People who watched the "original" 1951 version will always have something to complain about. But this is a MODERN adaptation with a MODERN audience. Leave Keanu ALONE! XD

In this movie as always the U.S. resides it's self as the Roman Empire. To have control and comands over everything yet understands nothing. To be a leader you must be a follower. To try controlling things beyonds your comprehention is an moral outrage. An Alien civilization wants to speak to the worlds leaders ,you let them . There's no way of taking out advanced civilization with no knowledge of their existance of weakness. Stop striving for way look for peace and knowledge. I mean we can learn from an advance civilization and maybe save the only planet known for mankinds existance

I thought Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connely did great, the only thing I didn't like about the movie was the boy, Jennifer Connely's son. If a kid would have treated his mother that way in real life, he would have been drowned in the river the first 10 minutes of the movie. Watch the movie with an open mind, don't try to compare it to the original.

I generally enjoy Keanu Reeves movies and the modern re-make of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was no exception. Enjoyable with fun special effects. I also enjoyed the bonus movie of the original version. Well worth the purchase.

Any scifi in blu-ray is outstanding and this movie continues that idea. The original movie was ahead of its time and seeing it remade with the movie advances was great. Keanu Reeves plays a stellar Klaatu Watching the remake and then getting a chance to see the original included in this set is an amazing deal. Highly recommended.

This Product is what I give 5 stars to because of the comparative possibilities of having BOTH films in one box. So put a sock in it and see what they were trying to remake. Also, see how the time period is reflected in the PC or NOT PC representations of the Military, of Politicians and People. ALL tough nuts to crack.

Great value. You get the original 1950's classic and the recent remake starring Keanu Reeves. The 50's film is one of the best sci-fi movies of that era. Did it need to be remade? Probably not, but I actually quite enjoyed the new one too. Highly recommended, especially when it's on sale for $5.

Had not heard much about this movie but decided to get it since Best Buy had it at such a good price. The story was well thoght of and when I started watching even my wife joined to watch with me (she typically does not like science fiction). Good action included as well.

Hadn't seen this movie in ages, then got it on blue ray. Love it, if you love movies and classics this is one to add.
