A heart-warming romantic comedy based on the characters of the series, "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya": and in the world of the movie, "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya". It seems that even without special powers, Haruhi and the gang are meant to be together as friends as fate decides to bring them together in this spin-off, though it should be noted that some of the characters are a bit... different. Haruhi is more mature and a bit less demanding and abrasive, but still strongly interested in aliens, time travelers and espers. Instead of trying to knife Kyon, Ryoko Asakura has traded in her knife for a genuine personality and is a very kind and supporting friend for Yuki and as far as Yuki is concerned, she's rather on the shy side, but she's definitely more talkative and outgoing than her original personality.
This series is a pure slice of life with an unexpected turn into a more dramatic side about half way through that to me made watching the series worth while.
Well more character driven than the original series, if you're a hard-core fan of the original Haruhi series, you might want to stream it first, but if you have a fondness to the characters, I definitely recommend giving it a try.
