The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" is supplied with 5.1 DTS-HD MA and two 2.0 DTS-HD MA (English and Italian) tracks, and while it's more of a blunt instrument, the mono mixes are far more satisfying when taking in Leone's unique world of cacophonous elements. Tininess is unavoidable, and there's hiss present throughout the listening experience. Dialogue exchanges are acceptable, and scoring hits high points of volume, adding to the singular push of tension the film provides. Sound effects are enjoyably harsh, retaining their sound library origin.

Absolute classic. This new blu ray remaster is great quality. Some people will not like the new hue of the color grading. I enjoyed watching the movie in this new remaster however.

Kino continues to put the movie itself front and center. Excellent transfer. Great features. Terrific reversible cover art.

The 4K is a huge improvement over the last Blu-Ray version as past transfers of this film had issues with color grading. It's still not without some issues here and there, but it's still the best this film has ever looked on home video. Do note that this 4K only contains the theatrical version of the film and does not include the extended version. There is also no Dolby Vision or HDR on this release. Hopefully Kino Lorber will do the 4K releases for Fistful of Dollars and A Few Dollars More.

I'll admit, I was a little concerned when purchasing this. A 4K restoration of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" should be awesome--but when it comes from a distributor I don't recognize, and it's the shorter version of the film (rather than the more recent "extended edition"), I popped in the disc a little worried about what I would find. And yes, the image is pretty grainy, but it's a nearly 60-year-old film that looks that way by default, so I got over it. Also, the scenes included in the "extended edition" are indeed included on the disc, but as isolated deleted scenes, which (for me) is not a huge issue either. And let's face it, this is a great movie. So yes, this purchase is worth it--I'd be interested to see MGM put out their own official 4K release someday, but who knows when that will happen!

Great movie. You can set the audio to the original audio of some of the characters spoken in Italian before it was dubbed in English.

Absolutely brilliant job done by Kino on this disc. For the first time on an HD format, we have proper color timing and a beautiful crisp image. Special features are beautiful and at the proper framerate. The sounds is the lossless mono track from the Laserdisc that is rich and full compared to virtually every release since 1998. The *only* thing this release is missing is HDR, but it's so good you don't really miss it. Finally, the proper theatrical cut in a pristine viewing format.

Im happpy to own this. This is the theatrical 2 hour 40 minute version which I like better. The 20 minutes of deleted scenes are also included and can be watched separately. The picture quality is the best Ive seen for this movie. It's still grainy, true to the film it was shot on but I thought the close up shots of the characters faces looked really good. I never had the regular blu-ray version but I'm pretty sure this is an improvement.

No offense to John Wayne, but although the Western genre was born in America, it was perfected in Italy. Clint Eastwood (The Good), Lee Van Cleef (The Bad) & Eli Wallach (The Ugly) are nothing short of perfection in this Civil War era Western about three men seeking a hidden treasure. Alliances are made and betrayed in this classic that ultimately pits these men against each other in a climactic showdown. (For the Metallica fans out there, you'll recognize the Ennio Morricone musical sequence that accompanies the final gunfight as the band's concert introduction). Director Sergio Leone's masterpiece in a long line of incredible action movies.

I owned the standard Blu-Ray from Kino Lorber prior to this release. I must say, this 4K version is the superior version of this film to own. Despite the lack of HDR, the 4K picture looks absolutely fantastic. The film looks very natural with lovely grain and well-colored scenes (unlike the previous Blu-Ray). I'd highly recommend it to fans or those looking to upgrade their previous Blu-Ray.

This is one of the all time greatest westerns. The 4k transfer looks awesome as well. It's a little more yellow than previous versions but that was apparently correct to Italian prints. Either way, the film looks great. My only gripe is that I wish the recent releases of TGTB&TU would include the theatrical cut as an option. The longer directors cut is fine (and is all that's on here), but I do prefer the theatrical cut for pacing. Regardless, this should be on everyone's movie shelf and the fact that best buy had it for five clams was awesome.

Since it was initially released, I have not seen the entirety of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. What a treat to go back to the movie that brought Clint Eastwood to prominence. I watched it the other night with a friend who had never seen it. He enjoyed it and, even though I knew what was coming, so did I. Morricone's score is a highlight. While in my opinion Leone could have edited the film and shortened it a bit, this spaghetti western remains a classic.
