I had them when they came out on blu ray and I gladly bought them again when they released extended versions and I have to say they really move the story more even if it’s little bits! This is my favorite trilogy NOT the lord of the rings like everyone else. This is more character driven.

I saw The Hobbit at the theater & then later on bluray. But buying the extended collection was so well worth it! You get more than just the deleted scenes from the bluray discs. There was a lot more information in watching these, which filled in the story even more.

Can't go wrong with Tolkien. Good movies, extended editions are the way to go.

Hubby was so excited to see The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings collection arrive in the mail. It arrived in three days, just in time for hubby's first day of vacation. He said the extended version collections were the best presents ever!

I bought this for me and my kids to watch. They love it. I'm not a huge fan of this particular set of films over The Lord of the Rings films, but they are fun movies.

I have the Lord collection and am on a binge of my most loved, so I had to add this... great cgi and it goes well with a bottle of syrah... just saying, people!

All three Hobbit films were just as good as The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Glad they made the collection on blu ray, and extended edition too. Have been trying to upgrade my movie collection to blu ray or higher so it looks better on a 4k TV.

What can I say here? After purchasing the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Edition BluRay which came in a wonderful case for those collectors who love a good fully enclosed box to store their special movies in, i thought naturally the Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition BluRay set would come in a matching box, since THEY ALL GO TOGETHER. Unfortunatly, the excitement of the LotR box is the opposite compared to the box the Hobbit Trilogy comes in. It's lame, and obviously does not match. Just a boring 'of slipcase to hold your movies. As for the films themselves, they are overly bloated, and at most should have been only two films. They cartoonist nature of this adventure is so bad, it removes any element of concern for the welfare of the characters, of which only a few are fleshed out. Other times, they try to make it all serious so that there is no real consistency to the films tone. After the success of the LotR Trilogy, its obvious the studio wanted to make another Middle Earth sized pile of cash, and this was the result. It looks good, but it feels thin, like too little butter scrapped over dry toast. The third film is totally forgettable in this trilogy. Besides moments like seeing the previous characters like Gandalf and Gollum, the other returning characters are just more blasted additions. The sad this is that its the same team that put forth all the love and care into the LotR Trilogy. Its obvious something is missing, but its obvious something is. Its been said before, but the smallest book in this series should not have been stretched into three super long movies, because it you can totally feel it.
