Blue-Ray is Great; Movie is Okay

This is a technical review of the movie.
I think the Hunger Games movies are "okay". I really liked Parts 1 and 2. However, the Mockingjay movies (like the book before them) are a bit of a mess and part 2 doesn't fix much. The story doesn't hold up near as well to logic or critical analysis. If all I had was this movie, I probably wouldn't like the series much, but as a conclusion to the story that came before, it's okay.
Having said that. This blu-ray release is pretty solid. The picture seems to be a bit behind the previous releases. Perhaps this is because the film spends a lot of time in dark corridors, but details don't pop as much as I would like. However, the Dolby Atmos audio is excellent.
The extras are okay. The digital copy works well with Apple iTunes and Ultraviolet.

More of a war movie than a dystopian future.

I enjoyed this movie, though not as much as the previous three. By the time I was caught up in the intrigue started three years prior with the first movie, I noticed that the last two movies definitely took a darker turn. After the first two movies, with all of their glitz, glamour, and reality TV-inspired hype about the Hunger Games, the last two movies are more like a war movie, detailing the rebellion's stand against the capital and Katnis' increasingly personal vendetta against President Snow, than a dystopian look at the future or a critique of our own culture. I still enjoyed the movie, but not as much as the first two. It's worth watching. As for purchasing the movie for your collection, I would only recommend doing so for the hardcore fans of the series. B+

My wife has read all the books and I have seen only the movies. This movie was well done and is an intense, sometimes brutal, reflection of current societal views. The story is what has been the shining light for this series and it reaches a pinnacle in this last installment with the cast giving amazing performances. Cinematography brings the action to life and fleshes out the drama that unfolds between characters, good or bad. Video presentation is crisp and fine. The sound is great and a capable HT system will take advantage of the wide dynamic range and subtle surround sound cues.
This is a film that is darker than the predecessors, and while some of it seems innocuous, this is not a movie for younger audiences. Overall a great film and an enjoyable story.

Is the Hunger Games a way for the Elite to control all of the Districts and keep them it check - to allow the New Order to be in control like the queen of an Ant Colony controls the workers and the warriors?
Or can it be the way of ultimately uniting separated districts into a unified whole to determine their own destiny?
Just think - 13 Districts. 13 American colonies. A revolution to overthrow the ruling power. Sound familiar? There was sacrifice for selfish self preservation in "the Games", but now the sacrifices are for loved ones and friends and their ultimate freedom to live a life of peace and prosperity without fear.
All of the other episodes have lead up to this point. Are we pawns on someone's chess board? Many chessboards? Or something more?

I read all of the Hunger Games books and was impressed by how closely the films followed them. Mockingjay Part 2 is no exception to this, which is probably why some have been critical of this movie. This installment of the book and film are very dark in nature and if you are hoping for something uplifting this is not it. Nevertheless, my whole family enjoyed this Blu-Ray and the series as a whole.
In my opinion the series' films rank from the Best to Not as Good in this order, Catching Fire, Hunger Games, Mockingjay Part 2, Mockingjay Part 1. Overall, though, this is a fantastic story and I thought they developed it well for the screen.
Give Mockingjay 2 a chance and pick it up, as well as any other parts of the series you may have missed. They are worth it!

If you have the previous 3 movies, then it is a now brainer to pick this one up, especially on blu-ray. If you don't have the previous movies yet, then look for a bonus pack with all the movies. One of the issues I had was buying them at different times and the packaging was different (the third movie had a much taller box and different format, which looks weird on the shelf).
The audio and video are excellent, even for blu-ray standards. The extras are very good and will keep you entertained. This is an excellent addition to my movie library collection.

I'm not going to go into the movie because if you're picking this up, you're probably very familiar with the series and this closing chapter. Instead, I will talk about this particular packaging.
The Art Direction of this Steelbook is consistent with the previous 3 Steelbooks - albeit with a matte finish. As far as the extras, you will be missing out on a few more extras available at other retailers but the Special features are more than comprehensive on the disc already. It also includes the DVD version of the film. All in all, this last Steelbook gives a satisfying sense of continuity and completion to Best Buy's run of the Hunger Games. Enjoy the set and enjoy the movie!

Boy this was sure a long time coming. I like watching my movies at home. And I was not disappointed. It was well worth waiting for. Lots of action, and surprises. I like a film that I can't figure out the ending in the first fifteen minutes. After four films I kinda hated for it to be over. Oh and there is over five hours of extras on the two disks. If you have not seen any of the Hunger Games Movies, do not watch this one until you have purchased the other three and watch in the correct order. Other wise you will not understand what is going on. All the disks have lots of extras. And they just released a box set of all four films. All four films were very well done.

Case, Contents, Hunger Games 3 Review

I have the metal case blu-ray with dvd and digital hd option. I wanted to see if I liked the metal case better, but I can only say that it is different. I was hoping it would have a cardboard sleeve like the plastic cases often have but with a little care the picture shouldn't get scratched. I have not attempted to see how durable the art work is. The discs are a little harder to release from the case but not bad. I like the Hunger Games movie series, so I certainly would recommend it. The third movie in two parts, in my opinion, is not as interesting as the first two movies but you have some unexpected plot twists, and closure for the story.

I read all the books and watched all the movies. Not disappointed with either. The acting and action were excelllent. Special effects were awesome. I was sad at the end because youi know who died. But other than that I was blown away. I know they use a lot of green screen and it must save them a bunch of money but the visual affect of the green screen is amazing. In my opinion Jennifer Lawrence did a spectacular job as Katniss Everdeen. Other actors did as good a job as Ms Lawrence which i feel added a healthy touch of reality to the movie. If you haven't seen it yet get the dvd or watch on On Demand. You will not be disappointed.

I bought this at a Best Buy location. The movie itself is fun and exciting. While I wasn't planning on purchasing the steelcase, I did, and I love it. There was some pricing issues with this item (the price listed on the shelf was $5 less than what the item showed on the register). I brought this to the attention of the register clerk, and after 10 minutes that consisted of a discussion that accused me of moving the movie to a different location to try to get the movie cheaper and a walk with the supervisor to the location in the store where the price was clearly listed, I received the shelf price. The movie was good though.

I was a bit dissatisfied with "Mockingjay: Part 1"...it felt like a segmented cash-in in order to stretch out the finale. Thankfully, "Mockingjay: Part 2" brings the Hunger Games series to a satisfying close. Most characters receive a resolution of some sort, and though I'm sure it doesn't follow the book exactly, I was accepting of the results. If you're a fan, you're already invested and will probably buy this regardless. However, if you've yet to check out this series, do so knowing that it's a cut above the other PG-13 tween stuff out there. I'd give this movie a 3.5/5 stars, and the series as a whole a 4/5.

Many years and many hours later, The Hunger Games Trilogy Plus One has reached the end. I wasn't disappointed by the story nor cinematography as we bid Katniss and friends adieu. The second half of the last chapter flew by without missing a beat. I rewatched the first three movies before sitting though this one and they could have all been made at the same time. The actors didn't seem to age over the years this process took. The big part of the books were all there and were quite rewarding. Special effects, sound, and postproduction were outstanding. Glad to have purchased it for my home library.

Overall I really enjoyed this movie series. I only wish the final ending was less anti-climatic. I will say that the ending does make sense and is deserving of the series in a strongly emotional way. Other than that I will not spoil the ending. The steel cover is excellent. It costs a little more but justifies it's premium every time I look at it. It's just awesome to look at. There are not any extra's with the steel series other than the metal case and cool artwork. If you are a fan then you will want the steel series. If you don't care about the premium look then go with the regular version.

First of all, this is an exciting, action - packed movie. There were some parts of it that moved a bit slow, and parts that I just think could've been done better. For example, when Katniss was going to kill President Snow, and instead aimed for Coin (it made you think Katniss wanted to be like Snow.) Then, she tells Gale to get out because he didn't protect her family which I thought was cruel. There were pros and cons to this one. Still, I liked the thrills of it, and it's something I'd recommend if you like the Hunger Games. It did make me emotional at the end.

The final in the hunger games series is a good way to end the movies, and might just be the best that Hollywood can do at this point and time on a four movie series that brings such an emotional rollercoaster to the big screen. With this being said, it certainly had its flaws, chief among them being how lost some of the secondary characters get in the telling of the main storyline. Still this is a great title to own to complete the story, but the true high point of this dystopia drama began and ended with the Hunger Games, the first of these movies.

I don't know- I was expecting-what???. When i watched it, I had been working all day & was very, very tired. All I kept thinking about was "is it over yet? Is it over yet? Is it over yet?" It's a looong movie.I need to watch it again, (when I'm more awake & really in the mood). At this point I think the hype was more than the actual reality of the flick- BUT...really, I need to watch it again [I gave it 4 stars this time to judge it in the light of my mood at the time, not because of anything else. When I watch it again, my rating could change].

I watches the first two hunger game movies and I love Jennifer Lawrance, so I decide to read the three books before I watch this movie. Part 1 was a bust but this part 2 is faithful reproduction from the book. If you never read the books, you may be puzzled about what's happening. The only drawback is that Jennifer did not have many opportunities to show off her talent until the very end after she return to the victor village, but she pulls that one off perfectly. I love this movie - much better than the part 1.

I debated on whether to give three or four stars for this, but I couldn't go as low as three because it's a quality film. It's quite good, until the end... It might just be me, but the conclusion to the battle that's been building over the course of three films just left me wanting more, I guess. It wasn't bad, just not as explosive as I was expecting. The second time I watched it I liked it better than the first, so take that for what you will. I would still say watch it though and judge for yourself.

Most of my problems with the movie come from the source material. I've never been a fan of the third book. Mockingjay Part 1 was decently adapted, but in Part 2 they couldn't quite get past the wrongs of the novel. The Peeta stuff, the way Prim is handled (even more so in the movie, where she just shows up to die), and the whole main arc of Part 2, the "covert" break in to the Capitol to assassinate Snow is all just not very compelling. The Capitol scenes LOOK great, but they don't feel real. It's missing PEOPLE. Yes, the Capitol has been "evacuated" (to where? They wouldn't all nearly fit by Snow's mansion), but there should still be lots of stragglers. The movie (and the novel) wanted to keep it relatively bloodless, and doesn't want to deal with the difficult themes of actual war. The Capital should look like Stalingrad after the Germans got there in WWII. We also don't see any of the actual supposed battles that matter strategically for the fall of Snow's government. The movie (and partly the book) make it feel like a small skirmish, not an all out battle between the Capitol and the other districts. I can't remember the exact ending of the book, if Katniss got her "happily-ever-after" ending with Peeta as in the movie. I'm thinking she kind of chose neither Gale or Peeta, but perhaps that's my own wish fulfillment (thought the whole "love triangle" thing was terribly done, in both the movie and books). Still a somewhat satisfying conclusion to the theatrical series.
