This game is a masterpiece exploring the consequences that our actions have and the trauma people endure for and with each other. Without spoiling anything the game focuses on Ellie and how her relationship with Joel has changed in the 5 year following the first chapter in the series and it is handled masterfully as both a heartfelt coming of age story as a father figure becomes more understood by our heroine and a dark reminder that our choices define us and we can corrupt ourselves with those choices in pursuit of a goal.
The gameplay loop is the most well refined and fast paced stealth gameplay I have experienced. Enemies call out to each other, respond to your actions realistically (no "must've just been the wind" with an arrow in their face), and even have unique tricks up their sleeves depending on their faction, weapon type, and the presence of allies. If you enjoyed the first game then you will assuredly like the new more refined experience as it fixes and tweak many of the issues that were a problem in the previous game (forced combat sections, limited mobility/verticality, and stupid enemy AI).
A true defining moment in game story and mechanics.

First off - I pre-ordered the physical copy of this game and received it right on time, so Best Buy upheld its guarantee.
Now, for the game. This was one of my most highly anticipated games ever. I hadn't been this excited for a game sequel since Portal 2 released in 2011. I had very high expectations. Thankfully, The Last of Us 2 exceeded them.
I don't want to spoil this experience for anyone, so I won't get into detail. All I will say is to ignore the review bombers and experience the game for yourself. In my view, it is the biggest leap forward for videogames as a narrative art form in a very long time. From every standpoint - gameplay, graphics, sound design, characters, story, etc. - this game has set a gold standard that will be very difficult to overcome. Fair warning - this game isn't mindless escapism and will likely affect you in a real way on an emotional level.
I can't recommend it enough.

Let ne start off by saying, I am not a gamer and i get bored easily, i bought my ps4 in 2017 and i only used it twice, up until i started playing uncharted series during covid(2020). Fast foward to 2023. I was browsing and i saw this title. It was on sale, so i bought it.ive been playing it for the last month and it has kept me entertained and like i said i get bored easily, after i was done with the game , ill go back and replay a part and put it in survival mode, keeps you on your toes ! great game ! So, the Last of Us Part 2 is a bit of a redundant title, because it's not really the last of us...but I digress. This game was fantastic, from the cinematic storyline and entertaining gameplay, to the sheer beauty of the world and landscape. The heart of darkness journey takes a toll on you emotionally, but this is interactive art at it's finest.

Great sequel! The story takes place after the events of the first game. Be warned that this game is more harrowing than the previous game and features some brutal scenes. However, that plays into the story and the overall themes of the game. It's also worth a second play through with unlimited weapons/ammo to explore more freely.

I'm just going to say this from the start: You need to play the first game before you play TLOU2. You'll be doing yourself a great disservice just jumping in to this one.
Naughty Dog games are some of my favorites. They all are like playing a movie but the game mechanics have always taken a back seat to the beautiful storytelling. You are, in essence, playing a movie. Having said that, this game is painfully beautiful and has quite a few genuine things I have never seen in a game. All I have to say is power cable physics. Amazing.
There are a lot of haters on the internet tearing the story apart but that's because Reddit has become full of baby internet trolls who are never happy with anything. I thought it was a wonderful story and dives deep into the complex nature of humans. I hate to break it to everyone but not everything in life is filled with rainbows and cupcakes. TLOU2 explores the darker side of survival in ways that only they can.
If you're thinking about this game do yourself a favor and stay off the internet and just play through it's 30 some-odd hours and be surprised. This game WILL make you uncomfortable but that's okay.

[No spoilers]
I personally loved this game. I know there's a lot of controversy about the direction the story takes but I think the way they executed it by the end is pretty good for the most part. If you can get past the initial shock and possible anger that comes from the direction, I believe it becomes enjoyable by the end. My only major complaint is that there are certain sections of the game that have a lot of time pass before you actually get to the next major story beat.
Gameplay wise I have no complaints at all. It's an overall improvement from the last game with some new weapons, enemy types, and even smaller touches such as the ability to go prone. The graphics look great (as expected from Naughty Dog).
TLDR: Good game with a story that takes a bold approach some might not agree with.

Not sure why there was so much controversy with this game. Story and gameplay was great. Graphics, voice acting, everything was excellent. Naughty Dog puts lots of efforts into their games, and this was no exception. I got it for $15 on sale, and it was worth every penny.

Awesome videogame, all of it... its great, the campaign, the graphics, I absolutely Love it, It took me 36 hour to beat the game it's a long game, but it feels so short to me, at the end I wanted more... I'm on my second gameplay right now. I hope there's going to be a TLOU part III, and I hope it will soon. I wish I could've been able to go to and purchased it at my BestBuy store by myself, like when TLOU part 1 came, but the pandemic situation didn't let me.

Whatever your opinions may be on the story, even if you saw the leaks, I implore you to try this yourself if you liked the first game and like a challenging and complex narrative. Gameplay is basically just a more polished and better version of the first one, and story is just as good imo. Worth the $60.

Phenomenal game and a perfect completion/continuation of the first. I could not recommend this game enough if you have played the first. The level of character development is awe-inspiring. Absolutely captivating story lines and amazing work done by the artists and actors on all fronts. Full emotional investment. Then the final battles were the single most mentally grueling fights I've had in a game. The way they integrated the music throughout the game and story was a work of art. Then on to the game play and graphics. The use of HDR and the visuals are just stunning. Spent hours roaming around just playing with shadows of trees. So much attention to detail that it's mesmerizing. Game play was everything you loved about the first, smoothed over, lightly customized, with a couple extra bonuses thrown your way. Just a beauty of a game. Took three days to process the ending of Part II then started another run in the first one. I just needed more.

When I was playing this game it consumed me. I played lengthy sessions because the story was so engaging I needed to know what was going to happen. It takes somewhat of an emotional toll to play through the game but it's well worth it. This is not a game to play if you want to shut your brain off.
The game is controversial because of some plot points and storytelling decisions that happen throughout the game. These are brave choices by Naughty Dog and though I'll admit I was upset at first, as I continued to play the game and learn more about the characters and their motivations, I began to understand and accept them. A character I started out hating I now love. Characters I stood behind 100% I now realize are flawed, but that's OK and they're still great characters. No one's perfect.
This game is brilliant and a true test of your ability to empathize with others. At the end of the day, if you support one character for their reasons but don't understand or support the other, you've missed something big.

10 out of 10
The Last of Us: Part II is a masterclass in storytelling and gaming.
The Last of Us: Part II has gorgeous visuals, exquisite writing,
fantastic acting, and a haunting sore.
The scope of the plot and world is larger and more complex.
The choices and dialogue feel meaningful with each line and moment.
The complexities of vengeance, and the real weight of what these choices will cause. Ever person and being becomes a tool, a reason, and a weapon against whomever the enemy is.
The Last of Us: Part II fully exceeds its predecessor. While the first game limited the scope and world-building to the single path that Joel most takes, the second game truly explores every corner it can of its world. There was much more character development, a more complex plot, and a new look at its own world.
The Last of Us: Part II never relied on any tropes or stereotypes.
The Last of Us: Part II has a fluid and intense combat sytem and general game play; and large amounts of places to explore.
Perfect 10.

I'll be vague to avoid spoilers
An amazing game, shatters typical story lines that are common in video games. Has a moment equal to the "Red Wedding in Game of Thrones.
Great gameplay loop, I would start on hardest with hints turned off and work yourself down if to hard. Also changing level does not effect Platinum Trophy
Graphics, Animation, Performance are on point (played on Pro)
It's Dark...if you only like "happy games" this is not for you. But it's great to play someone suffering more than we all are this year in reality, so I enjoyed that aspect of the game.
Can't wait for my GM+ play to finish off Platinum on a PS5 (if I ever find one!)
Most of all, don't listen to the trolls on this game it's nothing like they say it is. It's a great follow-up to TLOU and not one you would expect, and that's a little refreshing. That being said while it improves on the first one n some aspects, story wise first one can't be beat.

Probably the greatest game I've ever played. Is it my favorite game of all time? No. But definitely the best I've ever played. Graphics are incredibly detailed from characters to environments. Gameplay is a much much better version of the original so if you didn't like the gameplay of the original you're probably not gonna like this one. Story is the one that divides the fan base and you definitely HAVE to be emotionally receptive to truly understand and experience all that this story offers. You also might have to watch some videos of the director and other people breaking down the themes of this game. Yes that's right, this is not a simple revenge story. Even the way the story and pacing is set up us because of a particular reason. This is the Lupe Fiasco of action adventure story games for sure. Layers of reasoning instead of typical point a to point b story telling. If you looking for a Red Dead 2 type story, you'll be dissatisfied.

Among the best I've played on my PlayStation 4. If it helps, my top favorites I've played in the PS4 generation are Horizon Zero Dawn (and currently Forbidden West), Death Stranding, and the two Last of Us games. So, narrative driven single player games. This is top tier and is a wonderful step forward in the quality of video game narratives. Story is fantastic, but game play is also wonderful and engaging.
The first episode of the HBO adaptation (of the first game) has just aired and I'm looking forward to re-playing this game probably soon after this TV season has finished.

I loved the Last of Us. I like this one. Technically this game is a masterpiece even when compared to Next-gen games. The graphics, music, sound, animations, etc, are all industry highs and the team who made this are to be applauded. The gameplay is more refined than the first game and it leads to more flexibility in how you choose to take on your enemies.
Unfortunately the story is much weaker than the first game and the characters are much less interesting than the first game which makes repeat play through a bit more of a grind than in the first. Additionally the pacing isn't as tight. TLOU2 suffers from a lot of tedious fights. In the first game it was only the last mission in the Seattle hospital where it felt like the game choose to overwhelm you with opponents. In this one it felt like they took that final hospital sequence and stretched it out to a lot of the games. You'll go from one section fighting a large squad of enemies, open a door, and the next room has just as many as the section you just completed.
But overall this is a good game. It just falls short of the overall greatness of the the first game.

Without a doubt, the best game the PlayStation 4 has to offer. One of the best game I have ever had the chance to play in my 20+ years of gaming. The story can be a hit or miss for some people, but at least for me, it worked and I loved it. For those who haven’t played it, please at least give it a try before forming an opinion about it.
Apart from the story, the graphics, the music, the level and environmental design, the acting, literally everything else about this game feels next gen. You won’t regret this purchase if you can stomach what happens in the story, which at least for me, is a story I did not want, but a story I needed to experience!

Unlike any other video game I’ve played. Incredibly immersive and controversial but undeniably memorable story. Just a really high quality production with decent replayability, and outstanding graphics. Shockingly violent at times. Can’t wait for part 3
