Excellent gameplay, story was somewhat lacking for me. There is a lot of story there but the direction they took was disappointing. However the gameplay was fun, and it has some replay value. Especially going back to go through the campaign with all of your gear fully upgraded. The graphics, cutscenes, music, is all superbly done. I loved the first one and this one has a lot to offer. I picked this up later after release due to it being on sale for a great price, and I already knew what happens but playing it through you still get the reaction and I think that they could have done the story better. Still worth picking up and playing.

I can't say that the game suck like all the other reviewers have been saying. I actually enjoyed playing the game and I stayed stuck to my tv. It is 5:05 in the morning and I'm just now finishing the game. I was very hurt when Joel died and then Jessie and I thought Abby killed Tommy. I hated Abby and I wanted her dead in the begining but I ended up liking her character and her teaming up with Lev. I saw how she felt when her father died and all of her friends just like Ellie felt. I saw both point of views and I understand both sides. I did lose respect for naughty dog and the scenes they showed were misleading and they did treat their employees wrong. There is also a scene where Ellie is playing the guitar after she has killed a lot of people and Joel asks "what are you going to do kiddio" she says "I'm going to kill every last one of them" they took that out. Joel didn't die a good death so that part was iffy for me but at the end when Ellie and Abby were fighting and I was beating Abby I kind of wanted to kill her and then I didn't because I pittied her and I thought about the poor kid Lev. I enjoyed the game play and everything seeing the world in two different people's eyes. This game was great but of course it can't compare to the first one so all and all I would reccomend it.

The amount of violence and level of brutality in this definitely far exceeds anything I can remember from the first game. They really went for broke with this one. It might not be everybody's cup of tea in terms of both content and story beats, but for me I enjoyed every bit of it and ended up playing it twice through to get the platinum. It's a visually pretty game to look at, and the gameplay feels tight and satisfying. Personally I enjoyed how the story went down, though it probably didn't do much for me to sway my feelings one way or another. I don't even know where they would take it if there were a Part 3, but if something is in the works then I'd definitely be all over it. In a way Part 1 sent the PS3 off with a bang, and Part 2 did the same for the PS4 generation. Maybe Part 3 will come near the end of the PS5 generation? lol.

One of the best games of the PS4 in terms of graphics and story, but there is a lot of raw brutality/ heavy on violence so some may be turned off. Longer than it had to be, but I liked the storytelling approach the devs used.

This game is phenomenal, however, it is emotionally devastating so make sure you're in a good place mentally when you jump in. The storytelling is beautifully done and the gameplay is excellent. Prepare to think about this game daily for months after you finish.

Disregard the negative reviews you’ve seen. The story is great, the gameplay is pretty similar to the first, and the graphics have been kicked up a notch.
It does seem to be a bit more violent than the first one, so keep that in mind.

My favorite game story of the past year. It flowed great, graphics were ridiculous for a ps4 game. This was a masterclass in storytelling. Overall the game was great. I didn't finish the first one but I did finish this one. The only gripe I have was the transgender character Lev, don't get me wrong I liked the character. But it just felt forced and didn't flow with the rest of the story. At the time I had to look up online if he was a boy or girl and what was going on with that character because they didn't explain it until much later in the game. It's a curveball they didn't really need to throw at you but I guess in this day and age they try to appeal to everyone. Regardless this was the best story game I've played this past year that wasn't an online shooter.

A novelist’s video game...

I feel it’s important to start this review with a simple statement: I love reading books, and I love the medium of books. Words literally cost nothing, and when used correctly, they can take you absolutely anywhere. Everything is possible. This statement is important to how I view The Last Of Us: Part Two.
Now, I wouldn’t be reviewing Part 2 without having enjoyed the first part - in fact, I loved the first so much, I was content with not having a sequel. But given the financial gain and critical success of The Last Of Us, there was no doubt we were getting a sequel. Naming a sequel “Part Two” immediately comes off as novel-esque, implying we are now playing something that is PART of more, making everything that came before liable for its actions - including, and especially, our characters, Joel and Ellie. All I could think was: nothing is sacred anymore - I have read far too many books to know better. And clearly, not only was I right, I was among the few. It wasn’t until TLOU2 that I realized how very different the medium of books and the medium of video games were in their ability to tell stories. Previous to this game, I would’ve said that games are extremely close to being able to tell large scale, time-spanning, character evolving stories, and the audience is mostly adept enough to experience these stories. Especially after the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2. Ask me now, and my answer would be different. Though, it is clear that creators in the game medium have big novel-esque stories that they want to tell, and the interactive immersion of video games is still very promising for individuals looking to push and evolve the medium. And as of this writing, there simply is no game out there with the massive amount of success in providing this special experience than The Last Of Us Part One and Two as a whole - this is a story that spans time, characters, locations, and delivers a tale that is meant to create conversations, challenges perceptions. And even leaves you feeling just as raw as the characters you control. If it’s not clear, I’m doing my best to talk and dance around the details on this one, as there’s spoilers around every corner. Even the way the story unravels itself gives off spoilers that are too good to reveal. So, this is one of those games that just needs to be experienced and judged on its own merits for each individual. Gameplay is incredibly similar to the first game, starting the player off with the same techniques that we left off with in the original. From there, we are given different tools, but still more of the same in terms of gameplay, and that goes for gunplay too. Everything does have a nice polish job on it, making the game feel overall smoother and more agile than the original, but no need to fix what isn’t broken here. That said, battles with the different enemy types is still incredibly tense and visceral - man, this is a mean game. Their are several new factions and enemies introduced into this game, as well as some from the first game, but these new factions will often leave one too anxious to even more, let alone strategize against them. And it all descends into the heart of darkness as each hour of the game passes. Speaking of which, this entry is much longer than the previous, almost twice as long - 20-30 hours. As said by the creators, this story, unlike the story of bonding and fear of loss of the first game, this second time around is focused on hatred and the cycles that drive us when consumed by it. Obviously, this outing is a lot more brooding than the last, and the game shows us how unrelenting its going to be from very early on. Rather than feeling like the player is pushing Ellie further along, it feels more like Ellie is pulling us deeper and deeper into a rabbit hole we don’t want to follow her down. Each action carrying its worth in weight. And this carries over to a new character that the player controls throughout the game - the cycle picking up and continuing to show us the full circle of violence and hatred, that which consumes so many within TLOU2. The game even goes as far as to hand the entire reigns of this character over for to the player for nearly half the game - something that feels redundant and repetitive, but is actually a bold move in shifting story perspective to build a bigger and even more brooding climax. In no way do we get reliability or relaxation with this character, but a deeper understanding of the reality of the world we are participating in, and just how dangerous everything is in the despair. By the end, I felt exhausted and emotionally depleted, but I also left thinking a lot about every aspect I had just experienced, how full my creative appetite was, and how the actions presented to me to finish this story were unlikely to ever be attempted in video games for a very long time, if ever again. The game had ended like a masterpiece novel, without the resolutions that really wanted, but everything the characters deserved, based on their momentary actions and beliefs - for good or bad.

This game is so cool. The graphics are amazing and the way they made the environments is very creative.
They made this game very different than most in the sense that you get to see different perspectives. I don't want to give anything away but even just random enemies throughout the game have names. So when you kill one, the other enemies around will call out the name of the person you just killed giving you the sense that it was a real character and not just some faceless villian. I thought that was really cool and the story line has a lot of that happening. You should definitely play through it at least once.

They games story, gameplay and graphics are unmatched. Some my find parts of the story jarring but once you play through the whole game it makes you think like no games has before. In addition, the game may seem grim but there is also many heartfelt moments that will leave you smiling. The gameplay is a vast improvement over the first game. The action sequences are also incredibly tense and keep you on your toes. Furthermore, the graphics are beautiful and really stretch the power of the PS4. The load times are incredible as well. They hide loading screens through dialogue and when you die you can restart almost instantly. This was the most stressful game I have ever played but I loved every second and the story will stick with me for a long time.

The Last of Us is one of the rare beloved games of the past decade that not only didn’t demand a sequel, but actively seemed to resist the idea of one. Its story is largely poignant because of how self-contained it is: not knowing what happened between Joel and Ellie after his fateful, final decision burned a mark into the brains of many who played it, and that open-ended question has lingered for years. But with The Last of Us Part 2, developer Naughty Dog rises to that challenge with not only a complex, profound story that gives it a reason to exist, but also deep and satisfying evolution to the original’s third-person action/stealth game-play.

I'll be honest, I waited till the game was on sale because the game has received a lot of critical reception from review sites,
That being said, I actually did enjoy the game a lot. The story I thought was good but rather than being a trip across a post-apocalyptic America like in the first game, this one sticks to less areas, but the maps themselves are very large.
The gameplay is solid as is usual for Naughty Dog games.
If you have been holding out, I do recommend picking this one up for sure!

By now there have been a ton of negative reviews about this masterpiece. Why are some reviews negative? Well, spoiler alert, one of the beloved characters from the previous game is killed off quickly in brutal fashion. It's shocking and perverse but not as perverse as having to play most of the game as the protagonist who commits the murder. For some reason, fans of the franchise are foaming at the mouth and having fits about being forced to play such a dastardly character that they despise beyond reason. Naughty Dog has added game elements that are morally conflicting and that put you into situations that you may not want to be associated with while playing a typical game. So much for that, because this isn't your typical game! It's a Naughty Dog game and it's brilliant!
The world in which you play is rendered so beautifully that it seems to be alive. Water drips off of the characters and causes individual ripples in the puddles. The lighting is ultra-realistic. Shine a flashlight in somebody's face and they will react to it. Characters react to sunlight after being inside. Snow falls off of trees realistically when bumped into. Gunshots echo and sound differently in rooms, corridors, or under a highway overpass. Bullets fragment and cause dust when they strike walls. When somebody is shot the gore from the impact will splatter against a wall and drip down with chunks of bone and flesh. Glass breaks and sounds realistic. When you pick up a rope or electrical wire and toss it the physics works realistically. Dogs and other animals will come up to you and beg to be petted. If you kill a dog's master it will hang around whimpering with its tail between its legs or meander about confused. The hair and clothing are realistically textured. Backpacks have weight and motion depending on how the characters move about. Blood flows from a victim's wounds and if you walk through it you will leave bloody footprints behind you. If you walk along a beach you will also leave footprints in the sand that will slowly fade as the incoming waves erase them. You can drown while swimming. Ice cracks as you walk on it. Blood will slowly seep into bandages when you wrap up a wound. You can play fetch with a dog and if you throw it out of reach it will sit and wait until you retrieve it. There are many more touches packed into the game that gives it a feeling of being a real-world like the ragdoll physics that make a person fall differently depending on how or where they were killed. Shotgun blasts will shatter bodies and limbs. Explosions will blow apart bodies turning their blood into mist and exploded objects will scatter parts across the landscape. Reflections, shadows, snow, fog, airborne particles, and smoke have a 3-D presence in the scenes. People hunting you will communicate with each other and give away your position. Dogs will follow your scent and track you down wherever you hide. No matter how you play, either stealthfully or with direct attacks, the game adjusts to your choices. Characters will beg for their lives or they will taunt you and call you a coward. You can use and upgrade all kinds of weapons. You can find or make ammo, traps, or explosive devices. If you shoot an enemy with a flaming arrow they will catch nearby grass on fire too or ignite other objects. There are a lot of unnatural enemies too that require their own method of disposal. You might snap one enemy's neck, shiv them in the throat, catch them on fire, blow them up, shoot them in the face, or just evade them all together, but whichever way you decide to dispatch your enemies you will be having fun. Just play the game and ignore the politics of disgruntled fanboys and the negative reviews. You just might have lots of fun and the most memorable experience in gaming that you'll ever have!

Honestly can’t stop playing this game since I picked it up. The graphics are absolutely amazing it’s such a beautiful game. The detail the color the expressions on the characters face it’s just absolutely amazing. If you played the first one you are gonna like this one even better. Story is very good and the gameplay is twice as better as the first. With new zombies makes the game more interesting on how to play and take down your enemies. Upgrading your weapons one one of my favorite parts of the game. Literally this game keeps me up so late I’m so tired for work the next day this is a must have game for the PS4

I was a huge fan of the original game, and thought it was one of the best games ever made. Making a sequel to such an acclaimed game certainly came with sky-high expectations, and Naughty Dog nailed it! Everything from the acting, the story, and the gameplay are best in class. I loved the first game! But I found this one even more entertaining! Everything from the characters, gameplay, story, and the environments, plus the graphics are just amazing. I’ve never played a game that had so much emotion! I also love how long the game is, took me about 41 hours on hard to complete as I like to find all the collectibles and take my time with games as good as this one is. I was saddened to finish this game as it left me wanting more. I can’t wait for part 3!!

This is gotta be one of my favorite games I've played in recent times, although once you beat it, you know, the replay value is kinda non-existent. But I still like to break it back out again after a while. This was the last copy they had in my local Best Buy store because unfortunately console game makers want games to become all digital but I've lost too much money because of DRM with digital content so I'm gonna stick with physical media as long as possible. They can't take it away from you if you bought a physical copy of it.

( NO Spoilers ) I know a lot of people was disappointed in the writing of the story but I really enjoyed it. Just consider the times that these people are living in so is there really a good side or bad side? Well it matters the side you hold allegiance to. As for me I truly enjoyed the first game and was captivated with this one. It tugs at your emotions of joy and pain. It also invites you in to be open minded of the two sides to every story. As for game play this game packs horror and action. Game mechanics is on point. All I ask is for others to play through the whole game before judging the outcome, you may come off enjoying it.

People are still raving and ranting about this game - years after it was released. I loved the first part - my most favorite game of all time! I love this part as well - a little less. But it is a great game nonetheless. The storyline and gameplay is gripping, satisfying. The ending will move you. If it doesn't, I really don't know what to say.
