Such brilliance. Charming and dreamy. A truly remarkable remake or should I say reimagining of an all time classic. The art book is an added value to the fantastic game.

Loved reliving every moment of a classic game I beat many times on my original GameBoy and GameBoy Color. Everything you loved about those games is in here, now with gorgeous presentation, beautiful new music arrangements, and streamlined controls.
The original and DX versions of this games played so well that I'm actually glad that the Switch remake left nearly everything as it was, at least structurally. I see this version as a way for modern gamers and old fans to enjoy what I feel is one of the best games in the series.
As much as I loved my time beating the game again (it seriously is just as delightful as my first time with the orignal), the dungeon maker portion didn't wow me. Go into the game for the overall adventure, but don't expect to make your own truly custom dungeons. At best, it's a neat extra and kind of interesting once you've finished the game.

Aside from version 1.0 frame rate dips that draw your attention to the fact that this game isn't a 10/10 game you'll find a truly beautiful recreation of an old Gameboy game that was remade for the Gameboy Color. This tile for tile remake fixes a number of issues that were present due to hardware limitations of the Gameboy while maintaining it's item-gated progression. With additions to the game that takes the place of outdated hardware, you can work on building replayable dungeons using a Zelda Amiibo to store the design and trade with others. The gameplay is well thought out and the updated music is magical. There's little that can bring this game down but there are still techincal bugs that for you to cringe each time it happens.

Incredible Re-imagining of a Classic Game

When it was first announced, this remake's art style took some getting used to. However, after playing and eventually completing the game, I warmed up to the art style very quickly. It is a faithful recreation of the classic Game Boy game that I loved dearly growing up. If you can remember how that game played, you mostly will have this new version down as most things retain their original characteristics. The price was a bit steep for a game of this length but it was worth every second of the experience of seeing this game again in a different light. Highly recommended for all fans of the original!

Fantastic Remake of a Zelda Classic

Link's Awakening has long been one of my favorite Zelda games, and this version improves on it in several ways.
No longer hamstrung by the gameboy's dearth of buttons, using a controller feels perfect for the game, freeing players from jumping into the menu every ten seconds to switch items.
The graphical update is beautiful, as is the reorchestrated music.
Some frame stutters hamper the experience, but not in a major way.

This game is probably one of my game of the year contestants. I haven't beat it yet, but that doesn't stop me from writing this review. The best way to start is the art style. Dear. God. This has to be the most visually stunning game I have ever played. It's cute plastic charm is very pleasing to embrace. I've heard word about framerate issues but I never encountered those. I'm a Nintendo-only gamer anyways, so I doubt I'd notice them. The soundtrack is also a knee slapper. It just fits the context of the situation really well. The game play was super polished, but I wasn't too much a fan of the dungeons. I just think they are a bit too cryptic for my taste. This game might not be for everyone though, so be warned.

This unfortunately isn't the special edition from Europe which has a Gameboy themed steel book but it's a nice package. The game itself is a great imagining of the Gameboy classic. Almost 100% remake. Some frame rate issues but those are negligible. The music is Perfect. The graphics look nice and clean. You will miss out of you skip

Great timeless classic. Great graphics, AMAZING soundtrack, game is really nice. Except, the frame rate drops. Some people care, some don´t. Some notice, others don´t.
The book is pretty and a good collector´s item. I am not sure it is worth more than $6 thought.

Link's Awakening was never my favorite Zelda game, and I haven't played it as much as others, but it's still been a classic overall game. This "remake" is as good as anyone could have hoped for. It's literally the same game, but with newer graphics. It's a Zelda game so nobody really needs an endorsement; every Zelda game is worth owning. This Dreamer Edition was neat since it came with a little art book. Nothing amazing, but it's nice to have. The only downside is the shipping process caused every corner of my box to be squished in, with 1 side in particular squished down quite a bit. The game works and the book wasn't damaged, but I could see a serious in box collector being annoyed by it. Overall it's a great game that is a classic with updated graphics. Definitely worth getting.

One of my favorite Zelda games of all time is remade and it is stunningly beautiful. Every aspect of this remake is perfectly recreated. The biggest issue I had with the original was the limitations of having only two action buttons and the constant switching of inventory. These issues are completely gone with the most critical functions assigned to A, B, L & R, with X & Y to be assigned by the user. The control is (and has always been) flawless, and I cannot understate enough just how beautiful the graphics are. I really hope they give this same treatment to the rest of the Gameboy Zelda games.

Link's Awakening was a great game that I never got around to playing all of the way through on GameBoy. This remaster takes the original game in almost every way and gives it an HD coat of paint and polish. The music is also great and adds a lot to the experience. While it may not look akin to most other Zelda games it looks amazing when comparing it to the original. This collector's edition also includes a great looking artbook for those looking to add it to their collection. Highly recommended game.

Link's Awakening for Switch is one of the better remakes I've run into. It goes with its own unique visual style. And it does offer a new feature that a lot of people have wanted in Dante's Dungeon Maker. Sadly though, that feature wasn't fully developed into something players could share and play online, and as such it adds limited value to the game.
The game itself is beautiful. The art book is a nice addition if you can get it, but nothing really astounding. The only issue I have with the graphics is that the soft 'Vaseline smear' effect on the edges is a little too much at least in handheld mode. I found it distracting more often than not.
The biggest issue is the price. I don't agree with people saying it should be $20, but a full $60 is a bit much. I think that $50 for this quality of a remake would have been perfectly fair. If you're looking for a fun flashback game though, this is a pretty easy pickup.

This remake of the original Link's Awakening is just as I remembered it when I originally played it years ago. It's still just as fun and I really loved the art style they went with for this game. What makes this remake better is that they made accessing your items, sword, and shield more efficient, seamless, and quicker by permanently equipping sword/shield and utilizing the X and Y buttons for other items. They also permanently equip the bracelet to lift things and get rid of some repeating text that used to annoy me in the original.
It's a fantastic game for new players. For veteran players, don't expect any other drastic changes. This game doesn't really add much new content except the dungeon creator, which has its own limitations that aren't that much fun. But it's still fun and worth going back to play it in its new revamped style!

I never knew I needed a Links Awakening remake until I started playing it. Wow this is a timeless classic. Still fun, still great story and dungeons for an old Gameboy 2D game. The upgraded look gives it this feel that is not forced or contrived just to rehash it as a remake. It feels like a natural graphical evolution for a remake in order for it to still feel like the original, just better. A must own for your Switch library.

The Dreamers Edition is an excellent collectors edition. The book is constructed with good quality materials. Links Awakening is a wonderful remake that is better than most modern games. This is testament to how amazing the original game boy game was. It has eye popping colors and a good soundtrack. The puzzles in the game are good but not too hard, and the gameplay is great.

This is my favorite zelda game in the series. I only have two gripes... I hate the blurriness of the screen at the top and bottom. I know this was done for visual effect but I hate it. The second is that they added too many secret seashells! But thats a silly thing to complain about. This is an amazing game with great story!

I'm sure if you are reading this you already know how great the original game was and, like me, have beat it many times. Well, guess what? It's still freaking great. The new art style and graphics brings a freshness that makes you want to beat this game many more times than you and I already have. A must have for sure!

This is an amazing remake of one of the revised Game Boy Color version of Link's Awakening. Outside of the graphics and a few quality of life challenges, it plays very similar to the original. There is occasionally some slow down when there are too many enemies, but hopefully they can patch this issue.

The game was entirely recreated from the ground up with some quality of life improvements, but the nostalgia is still captured from the original. The art style is reminiscent of a neat diorama and toys, almost clay-mation. The game play is classic Zelda, with items stashed in dungeons to work through.
