We purchased this movie because our family loves the movie on blue ray

We picked this up because it was the last copy and even at 35 bucks, best buy had the best price. It's a very hot item, going for as much as 75 on eBay. If you see a copy, and remotely like the Lion King or Disney, pick it up. This is the 21st century equivalent of the plastic bubble vhs cases.

Always kept family first and through it all they still prevailed

Good Movie, good music. Wanted my kiddo to be able to watch some of the classics, and she loves this one.

I grew up watching this movie as a child. We bought it in 4K thinking it wouldn't make much of a difference but we were wrong. This looks amazing in 4K. I know it's upscaled but it really does look incredible. We can't recommend this enough. We can't wait for Alladin as well.

I admit, I've never seen this but I loved it. I don't have kids, so that's my excuse. I am a fan of Disney animation though, and it was just a good light piece of entertainment and classic coming of age tale. I guess I'm going to have to break down and get The Little Mermaid next. lol

A timeless Disney classic, a must have for any collection

This movie is one of my favorite childhood Disney movies, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this special edition. This will always be part of my permanent collection that I see myself watching with my future children and into my old age. Definitely get this edition while copies last.

I was dying to see this movie for the longest time & when i found it i was so excited!! I felt like a little kid singing the songs, laughing, crying on point to the sad parts as usual, my boys LOVED the movie as they had seen it for the first time ever. Oldies are always the best!!!

Disney is so good at the steelbook game. This is a beautiful collectible Steelbook with great looking artwork on the front and interior. The movie itself has a great 4K disc and the movie (while always gorgeous) has never looked better. Nice to finally have a digital copy as well.

We wanted to try an animated picture in 4k and choosing the Lion King seems like a safe bet. Even if the picture upgrade wasn't worth it, it's still a classic movie. As expected the picture upgrade was very good. But it wasn't great. Watching the movie it felt and looked very "cartoonish" at times. Which is too be expected but I think the upscale to 4k made it more noticeable in some scenes. And there are just as many, if not more, scenes that make this well worth the purchase. As long as you keep expectations reasonable and aren't expecting to be blown away with the 4k picture upgrade this is worth adding to the 4k collection. Can't wait for the live action version.

The lion king is a well put together movie that has a perfect blend of heart, humor and music. The 4k presentation is outstanding thanks not to it being any sharper but for it's HDR color rendering. The bold color tones are given new life with this transfer and is a pleasure to watch. Sadly the audio presentation does not match video. While dolby atmos track is adequate, it just doesn't have much dynamic range to it. No loud thuds of the elephants stomping their feet to feel in the subwoofer or snap in the hyena's laugh to give you a shiver down your spine. If there was more dynamic punch in the sound it would be 5 star all the way.

I'm slowly buying DVD versions of classic Disney movies to replace the VHS copies that I grew up with. After watching the live action remake, I knew I had to get the classic animated one. Best Buy had the best price and the easiest purchase and same day pick up.

Am glade to see that Disney is pulling from their vault and releasing some of their classics on UHD. This is my favorite Disney movie and the picture and sound are amazing on 4K UHD! I can't wait till the live action version. I really like the exclusive steel book too.

I just love everything about the lion king this was absolutely an amazing, brilliant story ever told would recommend this item for child care providers, parents of young children. Adults that are children at heart. Just a great movie, can't say it enough times
