The Stanford Prison Experience gives an in depth look at the underlying tones of the human condition. Billy Crudup gives an amazing performance as do all the young teenage actors (Ezra Miller). Deeply disturbing and hauntingly brilliant!

What happens when a college psych study goes shockingly wrong? Featuring an extraordinary cast including Ezra Miller, Olivia Thirlby, Tye Sheridan, Keir Gilchrist, Michael Angarano, and Thomas Mann, and created with the close participation of Dr. Zimbardo himself, THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT is a chilling, edge-of-your-seat thriller about the dark side of power and the effects of imprisonment.

This movie is an interesting story of a college professor who stages an experiment with students, half will be prisoners and the other half will be guards. Now if that alone doesn't pique your interest I dont know what will. Let's just say that this movie does a great job in telling this story. I give it 4 stars only based on rewatchability which I don't find too high. Otherwise, a great film overall.

At times horrifying but always captivating, this is a good and concise dramatization of the rather significant psychology experiment. But maybe too concise, as perhaps a nod to the experiment's present relevance would have made the experience more complete. The performances are excellent throughout, especially Crudup's.

I read the profile for this flick, but didn't see the twist until it was happening. The acting was better than I expected, and the drama level creeped up on you. A very psychological interspection into our perceived ideas.

I had heard of this experiment before and knew a little about it, but watching the movie was enlightening. The experiment only lasted six days but when you're watching the movie it doesn't seem like such a short space of time it feels longer. I really loved the behind the scenes stuff too and the fact that they had the guy who did the experiment help with the film. I think that added to the sense of realism the movie had.

Based on true events, this movie was a fascinating look on the experiment in which the movie is named off of. Great cast, and somewhat shocking to see how quickly some submit or abuse authority.

i saw this on netflix before and liked how great of a thriller it was! great movie thats based on a true story! it was a must buy once i saw a blu-ray copy in store at best buy!

Make sure to keep a look out on this not-so-well known film because it's a good experience to watch in what occurred back in the 70's when an experiment went way out of hand.

Studied this experiment in college out of a textbook, It was great to see it acted out in a wonderfully put together movie! Well worth the buy for any crime/drama fan!

Anyone who has studied psychology knows about this experiment. It was a good movie that kept me intrigued throughout.

Based on a true story about a social experiment that was meant to last for two weeks, ended in a few days. While school was out, students volunteered for the social experiment. Created by a university professor, to analyze the psychological responses, the catch was some would be chosen to be prison guards and inmates. The result was violent as the students became the roles and committed vile acts unto one another

By far the best account of the experiment. Very well acted and as far as I know very accurate as to what actually happened!

Like the movie ..just not sure that was one of my favorites ...the content was ok ..not really practical nowsaday in a way !

If you ever considered volunteered for money please watch this movie. You will never volunteer for anything again.

This story was told in more than one film, one of them being Das Experiment, which was in my opinion excellent

This movie was a little slow but interesting for my husband, myself & my 17 year old daughter.

I enjoyed this more then I thought. I watched it twice that weekend just because I liked it so much.

It's compelling drama in and of itself multiplied many times over when considering that it depicts an actual [and now frowned upon] social experiment. Think you know your friends? This very thought provoking and unsettling film will give you plenty to ponder.
