Being the progenitor of many sci-fi TV shows that became global trends in recent years, the most legendary television programme of the '90s, THE X-FILES, is finally making its blu-ray appearance, after years in the process of remastering from the original 35mm negatives, presented in 16:9 widescreen format, and including new DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 tracks. All 202 episodes are featured, with more than 23 hours of special content across all 9 seasons, and including bonus features from the previous DVD releases, such as audio commentaries, deleted scenes and featurettes. For the first time, we have the chance to own a piece of television history in superior quality, in the fasion of the glorious "TWIN PEAKS: The entire mystery" set from last year that was also finally presented in HD and in its entirety. Having created a huge buzz months before its release, here is the complete and official details, for those who wish to know exactly what the box includes, and also what it looks like. Packaging: The box contains 9 cases, 1 for each season, and leaves a space reserved for the upcoming mini-series set (due to be released next year), all housed in a glossy, sturdy slide-off box set. All seasons are 6-disc sets (except for Season 2 which, being the longest, is spread over 7 discs), presented in double, not regular-sized, clear blue amaray cases. Each season contains all the episodes and special features from the individual seasons, which are now also available individually on blu-ray. No guides or booklets are included in the box, the only info available is an episode list and a special features list on the inside of each case. The discs of each season have different artwork on them. (Australian release features an additional 2 blu-ray discs for the feature films "Fight the future" and "I want to believe"; Japanese box, also, includes the 2 films, plus, a poster, a set of cards with commissioned artwork, and an episode guide). Picture/Audio: The entire show was originally broadcast in standard definition. As the series was launched after the early widescreen TV boom of the early '90s, it was filmed with widescreen in mind. The first 4 seasons were produced in 4:3 format. The series then went to a 16:9 widescreen format for the remainder of its run, as anamorphic widescreen displays were starting to become common. Thus, it now appears as originally intended, which is rather amazing to watch after 2+ decades (only the pilot was shot somewhat differently, and so the result is some unavoidable cropping in order to get it looking right; but that is a minor gripe that only eagle-eyed viewers will notice). The sharpness is astounding, it's even more impressive than some HD footage I'd seen on German TV a couple of years ago. The audio is equally impressive, crisp and clear. The extra features are presented in HD as well, indicative of the effort made to present a pristine package altogether. To those interested in buying this, this will be of interest: I bought the UK box set for €140 (about $150). Amazon.com's $270 price is ridiculous, but amazon.uk's £100 plus p&p is one of the best deals at the moment. Both UK and US boxes feature the exact same material, which is exactly what one will get when purchasing all seasons individually (but why not have the complete thing when you can buy it at a good price?). If I could recommend one of the 2 sets, I would go for the UK box, because the packaging is better-looking (thicker outer-box, and all 9 cases are double ones - US box has 8 normal ones + 1 double for Season 2). The notes I have included about the picture and audio quality and the remastering are based on selective viewing. Obviously it will take a while to watch everything on here, but I will make an update if I encounter anything worth sharing. Let's all rejoice, this is super exciting, I'm sure most avid fans of the show can share my enthusiasm! The truth is - finally - out there!

I'm a long time fan of the X-Files. I've been waiting a really long time for this set! And so far I'm not disappointed. The audio and video restoration are fantastic. Rewatching these episodes brings back memories. The only negative thing is the set doesn't include the two X-Files movies it's only the television series. But that's nothing huge because both movies are available on blu ray. So two thumbs up.

This is absolutely the best boxed set for a TV show I have ever seen. I'm amazed the master on each eosiode. It was remastered in 16:9 and completely remastered digitally. It looks and sounds perfect and beautiful. It also has a space for the new season 10 that is airing end of January. It also contain hours of extras. The only complaint I have is all the extras are old and taken directly from the old DVD releases. I wish they had updated interviews etc. Other then that this set is perfect!!

I "wanted to believe" and after much waiting and patience, it's finally here. As has been done so often in the past few years with the meticulous remastering of some of my favorite TV Series, this one holds up to the best of them. When I saw it was going to be released, I immediately picked one up on the day of for the full price of $269 but then within the month, it dropped to a much more reasonable $129 for which the difference was generously credited back to me without issue. The quality of the material is excellent having been remastered from the original camera negatives. The sound is also remastered to multi channel surround to match the image. There are also plenty of extra features as well. If you a fan, don't miss picking up this set.

The X-files Collector's Set on blu-ray is a must for longtime 'x-philes' and the perfect collection for new fans! The set includes many hours of bonus features to explore...commentaries, deleted scenes, featurettes and much more! Weaving extraterrestrial, supernatural, and government conspiracy throughout nine seasons, The X-files proved to be one of the more thrilling experiences on television, and now on blu-ray the trip is all the more entertaining! The Truth Is In Here!

Of course the show is well acted, and written. The transfer if amazing though. You get all 9 seasons in one great box set. Watched on our 4K Samsung 65" , and you'd swear it was filled yesterday, not over 20 years ago. I could ramble on, and on about how wonderful the transfer, and content is, but then that keeps you from buying you set, and finding out for yourself.

The wait for a bluray set is finally over. There are a fair number of extras on the discs as well. The image quality is outstanding....aside from the one season (which fox is replacing). I purchased as a deal of the day. The set is no different than buying the seasons individually. The set just has an oversized box that houses them all....with room to add the recent revival episodes. I would advise making a price point and stick to it. This will come down in price...or pick up individual seasons on sale. If the set came with some other extras it would stand out and make it a no questions asked type of purchase.

When I heard that the X-Files was coming back for a limited run on TV, I was ecstatic. I wanted to get caught up on the series and have been meaning to buy this for a while. So happy with this purchase. It's allowed me to relive this show from the beginning. The smoking man, the conspiracies, it's all there. Great walk down memory lane!

I love this boxed set. It's like watching the series for the first time. the picture quality is awesome !! anybody who loves the X-Files will absolutely love this !!!

I own the entire DVD set as well and as much as I like watching them every once in a while, I don't think I would ever go back to watching it on standard definition. As an avid fan, an offering of HD would entice me to re-watch it from the beginning. I do think to try to catch it when it is on sale.

It is about time that we get this on BluRay!!! It was everything I wanted and I have not been disapointed at all in this set. It made me feel old to watch it and see how far special effects have come, but the joy of the show and the suspense is still at its peak!

This set is great to own for XFiles fans. Please note: early sets did have black crush issues with Season 8, check yours. Fox will give you a replacement season 8, if yours is effected. The only thing missing that disappointed me, was for the price, they should have included a digital copy. I expect an updated version will be released in the future with season 10 included and hopefully a digital copy. It is up to you, if you want to wait and see or grab this one!

I can't even begin with how long I have waited for this release, I havens started watching the series yet but believe me I will and everything this set comes with is so worth the money.....YES!!!

Been a fan of the show since the beginning already had complete series on DVDs but this was on today's special and I just purchased a blu-ray player, the quality is wonderful and I don't think I would want to watch on reg. DVDs anymore. Love the series and this upgrade made it an even better viewing experience the box was a little worn and tattered but otherwise was great giving. 4 stars because the collectible box was worn on the edges

I have always been a fan of the x-files tv series but to see the first 2 seasons on bluray in hd and widescreen was awesome. Sound has also been improved. I can't wait to watch the next 7 seasons. Definitely was worth every penny!

I am a huge X-Files fan and when I saw this I had to buy it. The Blu-Ray versions are sharper and more enhanced. I love watching the behind the scene footages. If you're a big X-Files fan I would definitely recommend this box set.

The show was fantastic! I liked the packaging on the DVD set a little more, but the Blu-ray set is more room-efficient. I am glad there is room for the 6 episodes when they are released. This is a must for every X-Files fan!

Nice boxed set of classic TV show. There's space enough in the box to add the blu ray of the "Event Series" as well as the two movies (two-in-one blu ray case edition), if you take the cardboard "spacer" out.

I believe the price was way too much and with the extra space in the box, I can't believe they didn't include the movies. But I've always wanted this on blu ray, so I'm happy about that. Quality on the earlier seasons much better than streaming options, but there are a few scenes here and there were you can expect the HD quality to go down so don't be surprised, it's still great quality everywhere else.

The x files on blu ray is a great set for any fan to buy. It comes in a great collectible case that even has room for the new series. Packed with extra features this is something you have to buy for your collection!
