I recently was involved in a crash where the person who caused it ran, though he was still caught by the police. Since then I decided to buy. Dash camera and picked this one. I’ll admit this one is expensive , but well worth it. When researching cameras, I found you literally get what you pay for. If it’s cheap, it’s cheap for a reason. It could be because it’s lacking features and/or is lower quality video.
The quality on this one is ridiculous. The rear camera is great also. I can literally zoom in on a car and read the tag of a car in front of me.
With this setup (front and rear camera), you’ll get everything you’d want. It even records audio if you choose and can speed stamp the recordings as well.
It can also be connected to the internet and track your routes. Plus it has parking mode as well.
Though I’d recommend getting the radar and possibly the in car battery as well. You can’t use parking mode without the camera being hardwired to the car and the battery makes it so the camera draws from the battery before it draws from the car battery and it lasts for supposedly 48 hours and only requires roughly 2 hours of driving to completely recharging it.
Also since the video quality is so high, you’ll want a 128GB MicroSD card also.
So again, the only downside would be that this setup is so expensive but it is well worth it.
These are the prices I’ve found for each part for the camera:
Front and rear combo ~ $500
Motion radar sensor - $100
In-car battery ~ $250
128GB MicroSD ~ $50
Hardwire install ~ $100
I also attached a few photos from the cameras.

I recommend the Thinkware U1000 because of the video quality it produces. While I would like to have a total 360 view, this unit covers critical areas in both front and back and it can read license plates. The app for your smart phone takes a little getting used to, but once you learn the functions, it's pretty cool.

Video is great, easy download straight to phone. Also came with the kit to hook up directly to truck (2020 Chevy Silverado)
I recommend doing that cause it has motion detection and any contact will turn on also.

The camera works well and the videos I’ve been able to pull from it look good too. My issue is that there’s no real instruction manual that explains the various features and settings within the app.
The lack of a screen also means you need to conecta to it with an app to review videos by either connecting to its wifi ( no data) or having it connect to your phone’s hotspot. Another downside is that while you are viewing the live feed, it is no longer recording. I don’t expect this to be an issue since I’m not viewing while driving but still would have liked to know ahead of time.
Overall, I think the camera is over priced for what you get. I used reward points to bring the out of pocket price down, but I would not spend the full price nor the frequent $100 off sale price for this.

This is an excellent dash cam with a terrible companion app. Thinkware need to do better. For such a premium product, having a buggy app is very disappointing.
The camera records beautifully with crystal clear footage in 4K quality at 30fps. I have scaled it down to 2k for 60fps but it looks just as good as the full blown 4K. The rear camera records in 2K I believe and looks just as good as the front. This kit comes with a hardwire kit which is a nice addition and not costing the buyer an extra cost with having to buy it separate. Every install is going to be slightly different so I can’t touch much on it other than saying that for my hardwire application, it worked perfectly. Now with a hardwire install, I have enabled parking mode which works as advertised. Start up your car after being gone for a bit and at power up the camera will tell you how many events it recorded for you to review. Nice touch.
Overall this camera is worth the asking price, yielding you two high quality cameras but as mentioned the companion app needs a real retooling. Connection issues are frequent and having to jump between WiFi connections in your phone settings and then the app, going back and forth to get the app to trigger the connection gets old.

Bought this in January if 2022 and had it installed in Feb 2022. The cameras both are great quality. The app sucks and so does the way it records in 39 second increments. In July of this year it just stopped working. All the fuses are good, power to the camera is good, but the camera will not turn on. I think it probably over heated in this Texas heat, but what good is a camera if I have to take it out of the car with me when it is hot?

Based on reviews this is one of the best ones to get. There is another one by a company called black that makes possible a tiny step up or step lateral version. As well a couple others.
But for me and my needs this fits perfect. The app is a bit dated but it works and that is what matters. The setup is only about a page an half and easy to read and follow.
Total tech support was nice getting free install.
I had this installed on my jeep wrangler and the tech did a great job and used my wire harness and hard wired it to my battery so itll turn on if someone hits my car. ((side not wranger and gladiator are impossible to install the rear camera where it should be, i just 3m taped it up in the cabin above rear view mirror to be a "cabin" camera like im a uber driver))
I went back and had a 2nd one installed on the wifes gladiator. This tech did not install my wire harness to get it directly on battery. I am quite irritated about this. I bought the harness and dude just neglects to use it. So now i have to reschedule another appointment because i wanted it hard wired. Dude installed it with a dongle into my cigarette port. With it installed like this it wont have access to the battery and turn on if it is parked,, off and takes a hit. UGH GGRRRRRR lame dude
I like how there are plenty of accessories for this guy. The GPS, the back up battery , the radar. None if which you may need but i did like that you can have access to them.

Thinkware U100 dash cam

The dash cam itself is pretty easy to operate and cables were plenty long for my 2017 JKU. Some of the settings you can manipulate on the micro after it has been used at least once for recording (frame rate, rear up/down, size). To me, the pictures from both cameras are clear for day but night needs a little work but overall would work if you were in an accident. The piece that drives me to rate it a 3 star is the app. I have tried every way Thinkware has sent to get it to connect so I am able to use all aspects of the app, especially since most of its capabilities require its use. I have even went to the web to look for ways and nothing has worked. Now Thinkware wants me to video record what I am doing. NO, fix the app. It is not working with my Galaxy Note 10+. I would only recommend to someone if they can try the app first and connect before buying. If you do not want to use the app and the cameras as a stand alone, it is easily a 4+ star.

I went for the full Camera system including the Radar and Aux Battery for parking mode which is a MUST have. It has been in service for the past 18 months with no product problems. I am buying a second U-1000 for our second car, that is the best recommendation anyone can write.
I am giving Best Buy NO STARS for the AMATEUR installation they did. Instead of using the fuse holder power jumper provided for the Fuse Box, they spliced into the factory wiring harness coming out of the fuse box, Just plain sloppy in my book, I will do this one myself, I have done enough auto installs of audio and radio accessories, I know what is right. Just have some Three Dog Night playing in the background while I crawl under the dash, it will be just like the old days.

Overall a good unit with a lot of bells and whistles. I got more information the nuances of the U1000 by viewing several YouTube video.
Pros:
Great resolution
Viewing segments via smart phone app
Viewing and managing video segments on computer via app
Installation was covered by Total Tech Support
Cons:
Anti-glare piece / lens works contra to any UV that may be part of windshield or rear window (rainbow effect) or if considering adding anti-UV film. I had installed and will be removing next week.
A lot of "talk" on start up; I would hope that it was more clear on what was recorded simply when parked. I'm still not certain what all the verbage is all about.
The on/off, Wifi and mic button are small and really hard to distinguish which to press. There should be more space so you don't press what you don't want. You will use the Wifi connect when you want to use smart phone app to work on settings and view footage.
All the wiring is there; however it was recommended on installation that a harness (plug and play) be used versus splicing into fuse box.

High quality images, excellent control choices for what you choose as “events”, and nicely self-divided folders for organizing them. Had some difficulty connecting my Samsung S21 Ultra phone to the unit but Best Buy was able to help me get the network settings reconfigured. Unobtrusive camera mounts and wiring but have Best Buy do the installation: they know how to hide and connect the wiring harnesses. My pickup has a sliding center rear window and they were going to mount the rear camera off-center, but for the few times I use that window it is easiest to center the camera and simply unplug the rear cable when I want to use the window.

This is a great item. The features are great, easy to use. It takes many attempts to get it to update the system, slow in response in locking on to the cell phone when retrieving videos. They could have done a better job with the technical issues. Overall this item is ok for now. The price is to much. Performance needs room for improvement.

The Thinkware U100 is an exceptional. Best Buy installation not so much. I bought this partly because of the rear camera but the installer didn't wat to install it because where they usually run the cable might leak. Perhaps figuring out an alternative routing would have been better. I didn't receive any discount for lack of installation. Kinda disappointed. Probably wouldn't recommend Best Buy as an installer.

Great video, front and rear. I would have given this U1000 5 stars except for the limited size of the micro SD card size of 128 GB. You would think that for this price and the very high resolution that leads to very large file size that they would have allowed a 400 GB micro SD card or larger!
I love the dash cams, but hate the limited storage ability. Storage cards larger than 128 GB have been around for many years, but Thinkware is too slow to upgrade the storage which should have been upgraded along with the video resolution. Very disappointed with this aspect of the dash cam.

This camera has excellent video quality both day and night, reason I gave it a four star is because I can only access the video while I'm in the car, unless I detach the camera and bring it inside the house with me, which is something i funny want to be doing.

Excellent crystal clear camera. I bought the front and back camera for my car. I’ve never had an issue with the front camera, but the back camera became detached from its adhesive pad. I have it on an suv back hatch so the wire has to be free enough to raise and lower. I think it caught on something I had loaded in the back and was ripped down. Other than that, it’s been great.

The image quality from the front camera is amazing and the rear camera is pretty good as well. In general, the front camera was easy to install and hardwire. Now the rear camera is a different story. On the first car it took me a good amount of time to determine how to route the wire up into the hatch. But once I solved that conundrum it was easy sailing.
