Great cult comedy. Really solid picture/sound quality on this release. Loaded with extras. It was a must buy for me.

This make believe group and rockumentary gives us a look at the music industry. Spinal Tap is a heavy metal group that has lost a lot if its popularity. It also shows the behind the scenes of rehearsals, concerts, touring, p.r., etc. The movie becomes a little boring with all the interviews.
All of us remember the scene about cranking up the volume to number 11 (everyone else has a max if 10... lol).

This Is Spinal Tap is one of the few deliberate comedies that I come back to again and again over the years because, speaking frankly, comedy is not my thing. With that said, This Is Spinal Tap is so chockfull of subtle, biting, witty humor that it's hard not to get engrossed in all of the hilarity present throughout. My love for metal music certainly enhances my appreciation, no doubt, but I think just about anyone could get a few laughs out of this gem.

I have the old DVD collectors edition but it plays small letterbox on my bluray so I got this bluray and now I'm ;taking off on runway#3..."with a full screen version of this classic Rockumentary which captures the sights, the sounds and yes the smells..of this important film about Britain's loudest band..Spinal Tap....but as Marty Bebergi would' say..'hey enough of my yakkin.lets watch the bluray".

I remember watching this "mockumentary" when I was younger. My husband used to play in a heavy metal band in his twenties (we are now both 45 yrs. young) and he absolutely LOVED this film. He said he really wanted the DVD so I bought it for him. Upon recently watching it, there are some funny parts to it but most of it is sort of painful now. I think it's supposed to be that way as it is showcasing the trials and tribulations of a declining rock band. I laughed during many scenes (especially the "This one goes to 11" scene) but other scenes were hard to get through. My husband still loves it so it's definitely a win in my book. :-)

Upgrading from DVD to Blu-ray!

Slowly upgrading my older DVD collection with Blu-rays and I definitely wanted to upgrade this one! The UK special edition looks cooler and more collectable, but this is what we have so far for Region 1 players. I love this movie and it's even better in true HD.

I saw this at Best Buy for $6.00 on blu ray, and I didn't hesitate for a second to pick it up! This is one of the great comedies of our time, and it's so realistic of a parody that for the longest time growing up I actually thought they were a real band. That's my review, short and sweet, so if you'll excuse me I'm going to go crank this movie up to 11.

I am very happy with the quality of this blu-ray. DVDs are 480p and there is a distracting amount of pixalation when played on a UHD TV. Blu-rays are 1080p and are the lowest resolution I would recommend for a film one likes enough to buy if there is even a possibility of upgrading to a UHD display.

What a classic film! A film that is styled as a documentary about a rock band late in their career, but everything about the movie is fake! That is the primary reason this movie is comedic gold.
I only wish that MGM had invested more money in the transfer of this to blu ray. This film does not look much better than a DVD.

A great 'rockumentary' based on some true stories and filled with laughs. The airport screening scene and the Stonehenge on stage scenes are classics. Of course, the scene with the amplifiers that go up to '11' is hilarious and probably the most famous part of the movie. A must watch for rock fans everywhere!

Rob Reiner's first directorial feature, before he went on to direct the classics "The Princess Bride", "Misery" and "A Few Good Men". The influence of this film can be seen in many of today's TV comedies such as "Modern Family" and "Parks and Recreation". A must-own for comedy film nerds.

If you love the films of Christopher Guest and his troupe, you MUST see This is Spinal Tap, the mock-umentary that launched a genre. The performances are all letter-perfect, even when the actors provide a commentary track, still in character. This is a film you will watch over and over again.

This is a classic film and hilarious till this day. Will have rewatchable quality and the film is well written and acted. The criterion BD would be better but the price of admission is cheap for this film. (under $10)

Already classic movie made even better by superb sound, better picture, and a few extra bonuses not found on the Special Edition DVD. I would have liked to have had the 1992 Royal Albert Hall Concert in HD as a bonus (since it's OOP at this time.)
