Great for expanding the Tivo Experience

I initially bought this because one of my previous Tivo boxes died after about 9 years of constant abuse. It was to be a replacement while I went on the hunt for a new (i.e. used) box with Lifetime Service that did not cost $700-$800. And it worked great.
It does great, it works on your home network, by ethernet or MoCA cable, and bridges your Tivo from another room. Which was what I needed. The picture was great using HDMI cables and didn't have any problems.
Once I got my Tivo replacement, I moved this Tivo Mini into my home office, and was able to hook it up to an old unused monitor via Ethernet, HDMI cables and to a soundbar via audio optical cables, and voilà, extra TV in the office without the additional expense of a t.v. in addition to the cost of the Tivo Mini.
Overall, it is a good alternative to getting a 2nd or 3rd Tivo box and enduring the subscription cost or the cost of Tivo's All In Plan. Please note, that when in use it does use one of the tuners from the main Tivo Box.

I love my TiVo Mini Vox

It took me a little while to set up this Mini to work with the MoCA internet. There is no WiFi capability, and you will need an wired ethernet connection if you don't use the MoCA connection. This made using its MoCA capabilities the best choice for me. If you have a Tuning Adapter, you will need to bypass the tuning adapter on your base TiVo, when you are using your TiVo to create your MoCA network. Once I did that, everything works like a charm. All my cable channels and recordings are available on the second TV. I can start a program in one room and finish watching it on the other TV. The VOX feature is also convenient. I no longer have to hunt for a channel or a recorded program. I can hold down the microphone button and tell it where to go, and it does what I want most of the time. I love TiVo's new software. I was an early adopter to the new guide and after a few days of getting used to it, I really appreciate its features. If you are still on cable and don't plan on cord cutting anytime soon, this is the way to go.

Wanted to expand my TiVO network as I wanted to put a mini in another room and this is the latest model and it's not much different from the previous TiVO mini model as this current model has voice control just like the bolt vox also it has gigabit ethernet rj-45 jack which I needed to assure smooth connection, also there is no composite connection if you want composite you will need an HDMI converter if you go that route of connection to the TV and also has MoCA coaxial connector. Just add this to your TiVO network and you will be good to go to watch recordings and live TV from another room. Only thing I wish is that these mini's were more price friendly as they are pricey.

Setting up not easy

When starting to setup, found out that it is not wireless. Not only that, it has to have an ethernet or MoCA connection. Looked up what MoCA is. My ethernet only available at the modem but have some coax in the house that can be used for MoCA. Then find out you need a filter for the coax. So I needed to get a filter, splitters, and some more coax. And the Tivo main box needs to have ethernet. So had to move that to a spot I really didn't need it. Once set up it works just like having a Tivo box right there. So I can only use places in the house where there is a coax cable connection available. Units a bit pricey but at least no annual fee.

I love my TiVo. After having switched out my cable equipment for a TiVo Bolt Vox 6 tuner DVR, I was in need of extending my cable service to another room. Rather than renting yet another costly box, I bought this instead. This acts as an extension of my main TiVo by allowing me to watch my recorded and live shows in my other room. Now this isn’t perfect. It does require either an Ethernet or MOCA connection (sorry kids, no wireless hookup yet). But once you have an established connection, it works great.
Now there are some cons; this isn’t cheap. Fortunately you don’t pay any subscription fees. Also, each Mini takes up a tuner slot when watching live TV so if you have a large family or multiple people watching and recording at the same time, you may want to consider a 6 tuner TiVo product.
However, this does feature the excellent TiVo remote with voice control. It’s also just as intuitive as the DVR. And this will pay for itself eventually so if your considering buying this, figure out if the investment is worth it for you. And did I mention it streams Netflix and Amazon to name but a few? It’s 4K but not HDR. Overall, I am really glad I made the purchase.

Great for watching recorded shows in a different room from my Tivo Premiere. Comes with Tivo's new GUI which I don't like at all--the old GUI was PERFECT. Was able to set it up with the old GUI after letting it spend a half-hour reprogramming itself. An advanced remote control with voice command (which I don't use) was included. Must have a cabled (Ethernet) connection to the main Tivo, not wireless. The Mini cannot toggle between the six tuners on my Premiere like I wish it would--it only uses one tuner. You can still access the Guide while watching a show, and you can use it to set the Premiere to record something.

These satellite boxes allow you to access your Main Tivo DVR without the need for additional cable cards from your cable company and gives you a whole house system, including access to all your DVR functions and recorded shows. Start watching in one room and finish in the next. Works perfect. A little pricey (actually costs almost as much as main DVR). So knock off one start for high price. Otherwise works perfect. You do need a hard wired ethernet or MoCA connection though, no wireless.

Picked this up to replace my old TiVo mini, ended up not needing it, however I did test the unit for a few days. All TiVo devices are eligible for the new UI (user interface) this brings a new experience and look to the aging TiVo. Search function works great, voice search is very easy. The biggest upgrades are 4K eligible titles and the large SKIP button for commercials on recorded items.
If you never had a TiVo mini or have a main tv with TiVo, I suggest trying this to extend to another room in your home. It will only work with anothother (main) TiVo dvr in your network.

I have 5 Mini Vox devices connected at home to a Tivo Vox 3GB set top box, using a FIOS cablecard. 3 of the mini vox units use the existing Coax cables in the walls. 1 of the other vox units use an Ethernet connection that uses the embedded Moca-Ethernet bridge in the Tivo Vox set top box. and the last one of the Mini Vox players connected via Ethernet cable to my Linksys Velop wireless network extender, so the mini vox thinks it is connected by Ethernet, but actually uses WiFi to connect to the set top box. This setup works great for me, and some minor hiccups are when all tuners are being used on the set top box for recording due to scheduled events, there are no tuners available for the Mini Vox units, which show the error message. Overall, I am saving at least $60 per month that Verizon would charge if I had an extra tuner for every TV in the house, but that would not work anyway because I don't have Coax to all my TVs. Another huge plus is that Verizon has a "Family and Kids" package that we have, and this package has no sports channels at all, including ESPN. With this package Verizon does not bill us all the other garbage fees like Regional sports network fee. I am happy with both the Verizon and Tivo combination.

I love this box. It’s a little pricey and the setup required a little more troubleshooting than I expected. But after it was finally setup, it’s made my TiVo experience so much more fulfilling. This box went in my room and it has made watching everything I record so much more convenient. It’s nice not having to pay any monthly fees and the ease of use overall makes this a great purchase. I highly recommend this for any rooms you might want to have access to your TiVo in.

I have had Tivo's since the very 1st version. I love the software and ease of use. I have had several since, but hesitated to have them in every room because of the cost of the lifetime service for each unit. This device gives you the ability to use the other Tivo's you have to support watching live TV and watching recorded programs without needing another subscription. Built in MOCA, 4k support, and voice commands add to the usefulness of the Tivo Mini.

overly expensive, crashes frequently, only way to stream tivo to a tv in adjacent room. Now that they have forced commercials into tivo playback we bought a fire tv recast for less than this tivo mini, the fire recast plays on all our tvs and devices, but tivo OS and autoskip still better

We were having various issues with our old Mini's that required resetting them all the time and you know how time consuming that can be. These new Mini's are fast, responsive and come with the voice activated remote. Definitely worth the upgrade, but maybe a little steep on price.

Works great with voice response along with streaming Amazon Video, Hulu and Netflix. Now using the Alexa interface too. Setup MoCa interface throughout entire house using the Actiontec Ethernet over Coax Adapter Kit. Using a single cable CARD from Comcast to TiVo Bolt and no need for any other Comcast equipment. Also have network switches connected to the MoCa adapters so that computers are hard wired for 100+ Mbps Internet speeds! Now using 4 TiVo Vox units throughout the house with the TiVo Bolt.

We cut the cord and dropped satellite TV service over a year ago. We purchased a TiVo Roamio OTA to use as a DVR to record over the air content and access Netflix, Amazon and YouTube. The TiVo Roamio OTA works great and TiVo has been continually enhancing the software. We wanted to extend the TiVo Roamio OTA capabilities to another room. We purchased the TiVo - Mini VOX a couple of months ago. It’s fast and works great with the TiVo Roamio OTA. These two devices do a great job for what we want… a DVR to record and watch over the air content where, when and how we want and a simple way to access online content… with NO MONTHLY FEES from TiVo… awesome!
