I like the life time maps updates. The Tom Tom had all of the features, and more than the more expensive units that I saw on display the day that I bought mine.

TomTom is excellent, and has provided outstanding service for me in multiple countries over many years. The large 6" screen allows me to see the turns without taking my eyes off the road. But the newly revised software load is appalling. Please, please withdraw it and replace it with the older version. The rework from the VIA 1620 to the Go 60 has provided some odd characteristics akin to the kind we would only expect from Windows 8. The new pastel colors show up badly in daylight. Give me back the older menus - these are not well reworked. I also prefer to track distance to destination - please revert to the menus around the bottom and edges. Give me back "Previous destinations" that I can read easily. Give me back access to "voices" like Jane - she is deleted now because the US uses "feet", not "yards". This new junk version can be readily replaced with software. Please do! The hardware is great. This is no place for a dyslectic, color-blind, ex-microsoft programmer who refuses to get his new design reviewed before a major release. Very sad!

I have always trusted tom tom for my gps needs. They have alway been acurate on mavigating me to locations, and simple and straight forward to use. So when it came time that I needed another gps naturally I went looking for a tom tom. This time I decided to get a bigger screen so I could make out information quicker when glancing at the unit. In terns of screen size if you want big this unit has it covered. However this unit went away from the hallmarks of what I loved about tom tom. The accuracy is noticably off, my gps will report me at my destination a mile before I reach my actuall destination. Now no gps is ever spot on but a mile is a very big devation. Also this unit is not as sleek and simple to use. It takes a few minutes of exploring through all the menus and sub menus to find the basic functions you want. I also dont like how it needs to connect to your phone via bluetooth in order to get traffic updates, and it will also download any updates ot needs through your phones connection so this can and will burn up your data fast. The second problem to this is unless you have a advance phone being connected to your gps means your phone cant connect to your cars built in bluetooth or bluetooth headset. All of these to me where frustrating and seemed like an attempt to build a over fancy system while hurting basic function.

I am sorry to hear that, although the screen was to your liking, the TomTom GO 60 S was not able to win you over. I would like to comment on some of the issues you rose in order to improve your experience with the device. As for the interface – it is true that the user interface of the GO 60 S is different compared to previous models. Based on customers’ feedback we have noticed that once users get used to the new interface they will grow to like it and even prefer it over older iterations. I hope you will experience the same. For your ease find the link to the user guide here http://bit.ly/1b2x9oO. Moreover we aim to consistently release new software updates to improve the user experience with our devices. For the user interface we now also allow users to reorder the menu to their preference. You can find more information about the latest software here http://bit.ly/1G64W91 and how to reorder your menu. For the traffic updates – we have decided to make TomTom traffic the new standard for our devices since we believe the difference in coverage and accuracy is substantial compared to RDS-TMC. However to enable this smartphone connection is needed. There is no need to worry about the data usage though since your GO uses approximately 7MB/month which is a fraction of a typical data plan. Thank you for your review. I will make sure to share your comments with our relevant teams internally. I have owned several TomToms before this one, and in the past they have been easy and intuitive to use, with fun features to boot, like adding voices and different vehicle icons. This unit has a very high learning curve and has lost all the fun, which is a drag when you drive as much as I do. The main pluses are the Lifetime Maps and Traffic, as well as the 6" screen, which is a help for my middle-aged eyes. If you like spending the time to figure out a new gadget, which includes having to download and read the manual, you'll be fine with this. If not, spend the extra money and buy something else. I would have returned mine, but I had it past 14 days.

Hi rightwingfolkie, Thank you for taking the time to review the GO 60 S. I am sorry to read that you find it more difficult to get used to than previous TomTom devices you have used in the past. We have found that users tend to prefer the new devices one they have gotten used to them. You can learn more on how everything works on the device by downloading the user manual here: http://bit.ly/1oOtk7P. I love the bigger screen, and it gets me where I am going, but the latest update squashed the volume. Other than that it works great. Would have given it 5 stars, but TOMTOM knows about the problem, and refuses to put out a fix till the next update. That to me is kind of lame.

I needed a Portable GPS that would fit neatly above my Honda Pilots upper cubby. Its a little slow to respond to touch, but has a very clean layout and not a ton to distract from the map and navigation instructions. I would recommend for anyone looking for a decent and easy to use GPS.

I bought this a month ago and have since used to travel from Orlando to Maine. Worked very well and got us where we wanted to go with minimal issues. Can be a little difficult to see when sun is shining on it but that is to be expected. Also rerouted once while on our trip back around Cape Hatteras, NC and took us way off track. We wanted to go from the top down and it rerouted on the trip to take the back route from the south, which entailed a couple ferries and many more hours of travel. Long story short, we ended up turning around after being 5 hours off course and had to scrap the cape all together. Still though, navigates big cities like Orlando, Washington DC and NYC very well. Would definitely recommend this TomTom.

I had originally planned to buy a Garmin GPS but found this TomTom on sale when I got to the store. It had all the features I was looking for including lifetime maps, Bluetooth enabled and the larger screen but for half the cost of the Garmin. Another great feature is the included suction mount which works great so I didn't have to purchase a mounting accessory. I'm very happy with my decision to try this product over a more well known brand.

I recently took a trip to Seattle which was new to me.Having known nothing about geographical locations of lots of places that I wanted to go to. I then did some research to find some reference points to be used as for my destination addresses before hands and with the help of Tom Tom unit that I purchased from Best Buy, the rest is history. It was a successful trip!

While this is an overall good GPS there were some quirks setting up the smart phone Bluetooth activation which I will attribute as 'operator error'. My biggest gripe would be the lack of live traffic as advertised on the product description. Again it could have been operator error but I tried several times and still could not get it activated. So in the end if you are looking for a large screen GPS that has smartphone Bluetooth capability this is a good choice.

I have owned multiple brands of gps and my issues with this one are the number of steps it takes to program As.An impatient person on the road I prefer to know if the point of interests are in front or behind me,this one has colors and graphics instead, not going to memorize. The traffic is related to cell phone which the older versions were not.So if no cell reception no traffic reports. If I wanted to use my phone I would not buy a separate unit.Overall it is average. The screen is large that is the biggest positive

Hello marie, I am sorry to read that the GO 60 S you have purchased has not won you over. Regarding TomTom Traffic - we decided to make real-time TomTom Traffic the new standard over RDS-TMC because even though RDS-TMS can be sufficient to a certain degree, the difference in coverage and accuracy that we can deliver via a data conenction is very substantial. Our research also showed that the majority of drivers already have a smartphone and a data connection they can share with the device to automatically get real-time TomTom Traffic - free of any subscription costs. We've also done a great deal of testing to make sure the load on the phone's battery and data connection is very low so as not to incur high extra costs for users. Thank you for your review. I will share your feedback with the product team.

This was a most helpful purchase. We took a road vacation and visited some very busy tourist ares. We where able to navigate in some very heavy traffic with no difficulty. I found it easy to program. The mount disc did not stick to my dash surface due to the dash texture but you don't need to be looking at the screen when you are driving, just use the voice commands.

I really like this unit. It almost has too many features and until you get familiar with it can be frustrating to use. The instructions which come with the unit tell you very little about how to use it. I did locate a good user manual on line but it is way too long to print out and carry with you in the car. Eventually I will be able to take advantage of the extensive features available through trial and error.

After inadvertently packing our older TomTom GPS unit, we needed a new one to help us in a cross-country move. The GO 60 S unit worked perfectly! Its larger screen was easier to see, and I was able to update its maps during our trip. It has lifetime maps and traffic, a feature I was having to pay a yearly fee for with our older unit.
