My brother got me into this show so when I found at best buy for $20 had to pick it up

It was different than any other series we have watched but it was good

Bough it on sale here and love to finally have this set! I love it

Great characters, great stories, good Sci-fi drama.

miss this show being on, just need the rest of the seasons

This Doctor Who spinoff has been called "adult sci-fi." Adult, probably due to language, adult situations, and brief (comical) male nudity. The episodes were generally well written, and I had to resist the urge to binge watch. It was like a book that one couldn't put down. There are many interesting extras and commentary on every episode. The transfer is 1080i instead of 1080p. A reviewer on another site said that it caused problems with his Blu-ray player and that it was a known problem with BBC Blu-rays, including Dr. Who until Series 7. This set played fine on my Sony E2100 home theater Blu-ray. Some minor complaints: -The deleted scenes are not always on the same disc as the episode. -Sometimes the same interview appears in different extras. -The menu doesn't have episode selection. One has to use scene selection, choose the episode and then choose the first scene. Also lacking was “Play All.” -For some reason, in every BBC set that I buy in a slipcase, the binder with the discs has worn corners and a crushed spine, even though the slipcase is fine. It makes the set look used. This set isn't worth the MSRP of $89.99 (no 13 episode set is), but Best Buy sometimes has it on sale. I plan to grab Season 2 at the next sale. In the meantime, I want to watch this set again with the commentaries on. It was that good.

Dark, gritty, and violent, Torchwood is the perfect companion series to Doctor Who. Stuck in 21st century Wales, Cpt. Jack Harkness and team scavenge alien technology to prepare the human race for the future. Unfortunately, the series raises more questions about Jack and the Time War than it answers and the plots are not the most original (Combat is Fight Club with Weevils), but it does provide a perfect set up for Series 3. Not for the squeamish or faint of heart, but definitely a must see for any Whovian.

The science-fiction BBC series "Torchwood" is a spin-off of the "Doctor Who" series produced by Russell T. Davies. This set contains 13 episodes on 4 blu-ray discs. There are lots of bonus features such as audio commentaries, outtakes, and deleted scenes. Season 1 introduces us to "Torchwood", a secret organization in charge of investigating strange aliens and unusual events that are a threat to mankind. The series is fast paced and fun to watch. There are lots of nicely detailed sets and many well done special affects. This is a great fast paced science-fiction series that is a joy to watch.

A great series! I've watched almost every episode twice and still enjoy it. I always find a new layer of entertainment each time I watch it. A sexy spin-off to the stellar the New Doctor Who Series with one of the best tv characters, Captain Jack Harkness. If you liked Buffy or Angel then I think you might enjoy this show.

I am so thrilled I found this series. I am a big fan of the OLD Dr. Who and have started watching the newer episodes which introduced me to Torchwood. I am now addicted. Great show! A must see. Once you watch one episode you will be hooked!!

The first season of this Doctor Who spinoff was a bit disjointed at time but was overall an enjoyable first effort. Captain Jack Harkness is a charismatic character and his team at Torchwood are fantastic. Totally worth the purchase for the sheer number of extras they managed to come up with for a thirteen episode season.

Outstanding effects coupled with the creepiness and originality of the X-Files; what more could you want?

The series is well done and very enjoyable. Their were a couple rough spots with the acting or shooting in the first episode (noting to major) Outside that the production quality it great. The only problem is that the packaging for the set isn’t too good. And that seems to be a mildly consistent problem with the set. Wouldn’t quite go so far as to say don’t by but make sure to save your receipt until you’re sure you have a good copy.

The product is the entire season of torchwood as it is shown on BBC. This box set is amazing.

Without a doubt, this is one of the most entertaining and intriguing series I have seen in a long time. I enjoy every minute of it. However, the reason I would not recommend purchasing it is the poor packaging. Not only is it cheap looking, but the plastic was broken and falling apart. I haven't watched all the DVD's yet. I can only hope they are not damaged. By the way, this is not an isolated instance. I have seen many messages on other sites citing the same problem with this title.
