    LOUD & HOT But Huge and Fast Mass Storage Drive

    This thing is great for mass storage. Has worked well for us without issue. As with other Toshiba 7200RPM drives, it runs a bit on the hot side. In the poorly ventilated case we use it idles around 45C and when it's in use will ramp up to 53C. Installed a fan right on the hard drive cage because both Toshiba drives were getting hot in comparison to their Samsung and WD counterparts. The drive does have some noise drawbacks as well. It is quite loud even at idle, making almost seek noises. Think 5.25" floppy drive (for those of you that remember those) type of noises. Initially thought something was wrong with it. But it's been chugging along happily since it's been in the machine and we needed the fast and large storage so we can overlook the noise. Took off a star though because it will be a deal breaker for some.

    The drive is fairly quiet and so far no issues. This is the second Toshiba drive in my server.

    using 2 of these drives in a RAID. Easy to setup and work well. Would reccomend.
