I traded in another 2-in-1 laptop that separates to get this one, and this is definitely a better machine for me in terms of performance and feel (with my "old" one that I paid $250 more for and had for less than 18 months, the trackpad would lose function every 10 to 15 minutes, and the edges were uncomfortable to my hands in tablet mode).
The only issues I've run into with this unit is an occasional disconnect of the wireless adapter (which could be more the fault of my router - I haven't done a full troubleshoot yet), and there could be a little more padding where the tablet docks into the keyboard for less wobble of the tablet when this is in "full laptop" mode.
Boot time, even with a "regular" hard drive, is usually less than 20 seconds, and overall performance is good with the 4-core Pentium processor and 4GB RAM - I've been able to play Halo: Spartan Assault and other games with no lag, but this is definitely not a machine for hardcore gaming.
Touch screen response is excellent, and the trackpad also has good response. There have been some negative reviews regarding the keyboard's short travel and higher force needed to register keystrokes, but these attributes actually suit my keyboarding style.
Overall, I am enjoying this 2-in-1 and look forward to keeping it longer than my previous one.

I like the fact that this computer can turn into a tablet so you don't have to lug the whole laptop around when needing to present a power point presentation. It has the features of being a tablet, while still maintaining the features of a lap top computer. I just wish it ran a little faster when attached as a computer. Its processing speed is that of a tablet, which can be a little frustrating, but not something that would stop me from buying another.

bought this as a work laptop/tablet for my wife, as a supplement to our current laptop. I have to say, it's a nice item - touchscreen works while screen is docked to the base, USB ports on both the tablet and base, charges quickly (adaptor gets very hot though!), and responsive keyboard. This particular one is less expensive owing to reduced RAM and hard drive, so probably not the best choice for a primary laptop for a hard-core user, but an excellent economic substitute for the surface pro (esp since you dont' have to buy the keyboard separate!)

I bought this laptop originally because of the prince and the ability to have a full version of office on a tablet. It works great, the only problem is that the tablet has the speakers on the back . . . so you can't hear well if you are watching something. If it had front facing speakers, I would give it 5 stars.

Just bought this laptop at the beginning of the month and so far so good. This is basically a tablet that can function as a laptop when docked on the keyboard. It doesn't really feel like a laptop as the "tablet/screen" is a bit heavy compared to the keyboard. My main concern is how will this laptop/tablet function over time, especially if it is being used as both. How will consistently docking and undocking effect it's use. So far so good though!! It's a little bit slow but that could be due to my internet services. I'm not too sure. All in all I love being able to use this laptop as a tablet. I mainly surf the web and check my email messages. I think it's a pretty good tool for folks who won't be doing a whole lot of streaming or playing videos. Worth the purchase! It would be great for college kids also..

Had lots of threats and virus immediately, but had no virus software when I bought it.. Finally spent $200 for a malware package for the life
of this any subsequent laptop. Too much "Stuff" on it, and windows 8.1 is really not average- user friendly . The computer seems slow and you
have to wait on it to compete actions so you can get to where you want to go. Not real happy with it but I guess anything with Windows 8 or 8.1 is going to do the same thing...but I did get a deal on it..it was marked on sale at $349 and when I checked out,, it rang up $199.

Great laptop and tablet combine. I love the option of using the mouse or touch screen. It is fast and has great memory. My old HP laptop died on me it was time to upgrade to a new one. I'm glad I purchase it and at a good price.

Had my eye on this for a long time... Finally bought this when it went on sale. I already own a convertible laptop Acer R7, which I absolutely love!
However, I wanted a more portable 2-in-1 for personal and work travel. I found this 13.3 Toshiba to be the perfect size, big enough to not cause eye and neck strain yet small enough to be easily portable. It is the best of both worlds without breaking the bank. It has all the specs of a decent laptop packed into the tablet unit. The problem with all tablets in the market is that they never have enough disc space and most don't have a usb port. This Toshiba has both and more! And when you start getting finger strain from using the touchscreen and when you need to do a lot of typing, you can always snap it back into the dock and use it as a normal compact laptop. And the dock has a 3.0 usb port that's very useful for connecting large capacity external (3.0) hard drives.
Also, this has wireless display. I've since bought the MS wireless adapter to connect to the HDTV and I'm loving this Toshiba even more.
I'm very satisfied with product. My brother who's an IT and into gadgets wants one too after seeing me use it. Great value!

While I'm in love with the 2 in 1 concept and the touch screen, I'm never in love with adjusting to newer versions of windows (though I totally understand the necessity of windows 8 with the touch screen, I just have to adapt to change) . I do love having a tablet that truly functions well as a computer. As for the computer itself, it is easy to remove and replace on its base, the tablet is sturdy, SD and USB work fine, battery life is awesome.

Falling apart after only 4 months

I purchased this laptop on June 10th 2015. I really liked it at first, but after awhile the keyboard started really bothering me because it would add in extra letters/spaces when I didn't want them for example if I try to type "dog" it could add extra letters "doog" which is extremely frustrating.
Then, the speakers started getting really scratchy, to the point where I will nnot listen (see it just did the extra letter thing) to any kind of audio.
The worst part: on October 26th 2016, I went to flip open the laptop and one the hinges completely detached from the keyboard. I am not hard on my laptop by ANY means, in fact, I hardly ever use it because I have a great desktop computer at work and at home so I don't really use my laptop unless I am traveling. The fact that it is already falling apart after only four months of minimal use is extremely frustrating. I am extremely disappointed with it and really sad that I spent the money on it.

Thank you for the review, carlymanhart, and sorry to hear about the problems with your Satellite L35W-B3204.
I'll recommend a couple of procedures to address the sound and keyboard issues below, but the broken hinge will apparently require hardware repair, which can be arranged by contacting Toshiba support at 800-457-7777.
For the sound issue I recommend reviewing configuration options for the DTS sound enhancement feature, by navigating to "DTS" as follows: 1. Open 'Control Panel' 2. Select 'Hardware and Sound' 3. Select 'Realtek HD Audio Manager' 4. Select 'Speakers' 5. Select 'DTS' 6. Select 'Launch'
From here you can experiment with the sound settings to suit your preferences.
As for the keyboard problem, I recommend doing a Windows Reset to confirm whether or not the issue occurs when using the original factory software installation with no configuration changes or software installations. The Toshiba Forums community knowledge base article at forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690 has more details and step-by-step instructions for that process.
If it doesn't resolve the trouble, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for further troubleshooting and repair options, if needed.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

the removable screen is nice to have. it is a bit heaver than a standard tablet but has additional advantages. Although when changing the screen position it does creak a bit but only time will tell if that will develop into problems? Overall I am very happy with it.

We bought this 2-in-1 PC the first week of April. 3 months later, it fell apart. I mean that literally. The screen/tablet connection pivot point (where the screen would pivot from the keyboard) had the screws come out, and fell off. It was only held on by the internal cables. I opened the bottom of the keyboard section, and re-inserted the screws. I think the damage was done tho. When powered on, the computer says that it cannot find windows. When I try to boot into the factory "recovery" mode, it says TOSHIBA and automatic recovery, then nothing happens. I have tried to contact Toshiba...nothing so far.
I have had several other Toshiba laptops, and everyone of them was fantastic. I can't tell you if I just got a lemon, but what I do know is that this was a fantastic waste of money! Purchase at your own risk! I would look to see what else was out there before making this purchase....regardless of the price or sale!!!!

I bought this computer for my University student for her study abroad trip. It was the perfect size, it was a new model with touch screen and versatility, but it tends to freeze up too often, even before she left for her trip it was choking up. She thinks it's because of all the programs she had to download into it in order for her to do her school work. As a personal computer not using it for school and many school programs, we both think it is a nice little computer.

I bought this laptop for my 8.5 year old son about 4 months ago. So far it's been very durable (he packs it in his bookbag & takes it to tech camp daily), fast processor, touch screen is nice - no problems with use at all.
My son uses it for internet browsing, coding practice, light gaming, and streaming videos (BrainPop and YouTube). I've used it myself time to time for Hulu and simple internet browsing.
The sound could definitely be better, and I do worry about the prongs (for detachment of the screen), but other than that, it's a great machine.
*It would be wonderful if it came with the option for Windows 7, but my son appears to not have any issues with Win 8.

I've had this for about a month and I'm very happy with it. The size is easy for me and my uses and makes it easy to transport. It s very sleek looking and has the heft of a fine device. All the guts are in the top (tablet) which is a little different and makes it a bit top heavy. It's just something I have gotten used to. One nice thing about that is there is no fan or overheating risk. This is high quality and I recommend.

When I originally purchased this laptop, I loved it. I loved the ability to detach and use as a tablet.
However, in less than a year, the touch screen capabilities no longer function and the prong/hinge that connects the monitor to the keyboard base is broken. I'm very disappointed, as I have contacted Toshiba and was quoted $390 for "major repair" - a brand new one is currently on sale for cheaper!
I have seen other reviews here on the Best Buy site with this exact same issue - the left prong broken. I really do believe the monitor is too heavy for the base to support properly (although I distinctly remember asking about this in store).
I would NOT recommend anyone purchase this laptop. I have been a Toshiba satellite fan for years, but I am thoroughly disappointed with this purchase.
