Excellent product! Works like a charm. More than doubled the internet speed to my LG OLED CX tv, compared to my WiFi signal. Installing it is also very easy. Just follow the simple directions that come with it, you can’t go wrong; at least in my case. A warning: don’t buy it through Amazon. It will cost you more than twice as much ($221) as compared to Best Buy ($89.99).

Great for a wired connection to my PS5/XBOX

This is a great piece of equipment especially when you want to obtain more wired connections to your devices. The onlh flaw in my opinion and the reason I gave it 4 stars is because it blocks the other outlet on the electrical outlet. For both of my consoles on wireless I would get 50Mbps on a good day (which is good enough to play but I wanted more) and wired I get over 210Mbps consistently. The higher speeds are good for remote play! I would love to see what the speed looks like on a gigabit network. Now all i need to do is add a network gigabit switch to cover my devices like the TV/Soundbar (to use the dedicated phone remote app) and AppleTV.

The speeds are nowhere near the advertised speed. It is 1/10th the speed of my current unreliable mesh network I am trying to replace. Yes, my wifi network is 10x faster than this setup. I have tried multiple plugs in the house and have the same speed with each
Also, while it does have a passthrough outlet, it blocks the second outlet when you plug it in to a standard US receptacle.

Hi,
Thank you for your review. Please bear in mind that Powerline connectivity and data transfer rates will vary due to network environment variables including: distance between adapters, network traffic, noise on electrical wires, building material and construction, quality of electrical installation and other adverse conditions.
First, please ensure both Powerline adapters are plugged directly into wall outlets - no surge protectors or power strips, as these will directly interfere with the connection. We recommend following the suggestions outlined in FAQ 409 on our official website: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/409/
If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.
Thank you, TP-Link Support

As good as a direct connection!

These are the first powerline adapters I have tried that give nearly ALL the bandwidth received at the modem on a direct connection. My tests ranged between 94%-100% of the total bandwidth from any of the power outlets I tried. I was very impressed with the results. Also, distance between the outlets made no real difference to the results! The biggest improvement over the previous generation is the HomePlug AV2 MIMO technology. The older generation powerline adapters only transmitted on the Line-Neutral pair on the powerline. These new powerline adapters can now transmit on any two pairs formed by the Line, Neutral or Ground wires (i.e., Line-Neutral, Line-Ground or NeutralGround).
Setup couldn’t be easier:
1. First, connect your TL-PA9020P to the router
2. Then, plug in another one wherever you need extra coverage
3. Finally, press the “Pair” button on each adapter
What’s great is there is no restriction on just two powerline adapters. All you need to do is plug in the additional “slave” adapters to where you intend to use them, and go through the pairing process again.
While it's great that these adapters replace the outlet they take up by having a "pass-though" outlet, they do also block the outlet above.
A word of caution, I found if you plug these into a power strip/extension cord, instead of directly to the wall, you will suffer from a lot of bandwidth loss. So it’s best to plug it directly into the wall.

Extremely Useful Product

Powerline adapters are great for extending your network into locations of your home or office to where a wired connection is needed, but running a long Ethernet cable isn't feasible. And setting them up is pretty simple to do.
Setup
1. Connect one of the powerline adapters to your router with one of the two included Ethernet cables.
2. Now plug the powerline adapter into a three-prong wall outlet near the router.
3. Next you will plug the second powerline adapter into a wall outlet near the device needing the wired Internet connection.
4. Once plugged in and the powerline LED comes on, connect it to the device with the remaining Ethernet cable.
Note: The TP-LINK AV2000 Powerline Adapter Kit has three prongs and should only be used with three-prong wall outlets since the grounding prong is used for transmission. It’s mentioned that the adapters are not to be plugged into a battery backup, power strip, extension cord, or surge protector, and must be plugged directly into your outlet.
As for build quality, the adapters feel very well made. They are somewhat bulky and will obstruct one of the two sockets on your outlet, but thankfully there is a pass-through socket on each adapter for you to use. The adapters will stick out from your outlet, so try to place them in an outlet located out of the way, if possible.
Performance
My current Internet plan is 90+ down / 12+ up, and while testing the adapter connected to my desktop, I was quite impressed with the results. I was getting around 80+ Mbps down / 11+ Mbps up on the test results, and those are some great numbers right there! I do live in a smallish 4 bedroom home, so I didn't have to place the powerline adapters too far apart from one another, which kept my signal strong between them. From what I've read, the further apart the adapters are from one another, the signal could degrade, especially if the electrical wiring in your building is old, or deteriorated.
Overall, I am happy with the performance of these adapters. As with any other technology, what may work well for some, may not for others. So of course, your mileage may vary. TP-LINK has great 24/7 no cost customer support to help you, no matter when you purchased the adapters. And with the 2-year warranty on this product, you should be in good hands.
Best of luck with getting your network up and running smoothly.

Big upgrade from older powerline adapters

I upgraded from a first gen powerline 500 kit and these new adapters are so much faster. Prior to the upgrade, my powerline network was about half the speed of my wifi. Now, I'm able to download a much more reasonable speeds. While I didn't expect to hit the advertised speed, it is certainly over twice as fast. For real world numbers, I was getting at best 27Mbps with the old adapter and now I'm seeing speeds over 60Mbps in Windows 10 to my home file server.
In terms of pairing, I still have one old adapter and simply had to hit the pair button, and everything just worked. Very easy to do.
In the past, I had trouble with other brands overheating but these have worked pretty well. The pass through works ok and it is a bit tight on the top, but I can still get smaller plugs in the top part of the outlet.

I could not get this to work . I tried using for these for a PS5 and smart TV and they wouldn’t detect it. It has an an outlet on it to plug stuff in it, but takes up 2 spaces on your wall outlet, and the one on the adapter was not powerful enough to power certain things.

I run this to avoid having to run a 100+ foot ethernet cable or use wifi in my office. This powerline adapter is super fast and gives me speeds as if I were plugged right into the router.
The only down side is that the adapters themselves are just big enough that they cover the ground slot on the other plug. Not ideal, but not a deal breaker either. Just be aware.

I have used power-lines for years to connect computers in the basement or 2nd floor to a router. I was having a problem with my upstairs unit, which connected a switch with 2 printers a computer and several other devices, disconnecting from the network. I would have to unplug it and then plug it back in to reset. I purchased the TP-Link units and not only did it solve my connection problem but it doubled the max speed. Another bonus with these is it still gives you 2 plugs in the socket.

We don't have the speediest of internet to begin with, but these do appear to help. We have issues with transmission of wifi signals throughout our home.
These, being a wired connection, seem to give a more consistent & uninterrupted signal.
Set up was incredibly easy. As other reviewers mention, the units tend to block some of the neighboring outlet. If you need to plug in something small without a ground in the other outlet, you probably can.
The plug through feature on this unit is definitely worth it.

Needed a adapter to plug in a voip phone away from the router. This set did the trick. Extremely easy set up. Just plug one adapter into an outlet and add the included cord into an open port in the router. Place the other adapter into an outlet where desired and connect your items. Works perfect for my set up. The instructions say not to plug into a surge protector but I did have to with the one located close to the router. I don't know if it affects performance or not but it works just fine for the phone.

If you live in a house with 2-3 floor and lots of walls that has not been wired for Ethernet, you know the problems associated with setting up a solid network. This gives me very fast wired speeds to connect directly to a computer or a sub-router. Very convenient, very easy to setup.

more stable connection over wifi

So i was tired of the unstable up/down speeds of wifi while gaming and or streaming online. I was told by a family member about powerline adapters for a more stable connection, after doing some searching i found out this adapter is the highest rated best adapter out that you can buy, so i decided to give it a shot. So far so good, the connection is stable, no lag or disconnect whatsoever. Simple plug n use set up takes about 5 mins. If you are in the market for a powerline adapter i would suggest this one.
