This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. Extended our wi-fi as far as 156 yards! We not only have dead-zones in our 3000-sq-ft 2-storey house but also have a huge backyard that we'd like wi-fi access for. This TP-Link wi-fi extender did the job. It's pretty much just plug it in & use. The touchscreen makes it easier to install & customize. The main factor to remember is to place this extender about halfway between your router & your desired location. Since we live on an acreage, I wanted to see how far this extender would connect my Ipad with my wi-fi. I set this wi-fi extender near my back patio. When it's OFF, my wi-fi only extends about 40+ yards in my backyard (see pic 01). With the extender ON, my Ipad not only stayed connected at 59 yards (as measured on my smartphone app). But even still connected at 156 yards (see pic 02)! Still playing a movie on my Ipad, even with only 1 wi-fi bar. And this is with large bushes & full-grown trees in between. Very impressed. Supremely recommended.

Please note this is a Wi-Fi Range Extended, not a Wi-Fi router. This can easily be confused with the latter. This device basically connects to, and extends the Wi-Fi coverage of an EXISTING Wi-Fi router. It is brand agnostic (meaning it will work with any Wi-Fi Router). I had no issues with the TP-Link RE590T, and this device exceeded my expectations. I have used smaller range extenders (TP-LINK also make a great compact one - RE355), which are better suited to extend Wi-Fi coverage within a house. However, this device is better in that it can also extend the Wi-Fi coverage to outdoor areas! This is great for patios, outdoor areas, or even guest homes. TP-LINK claim the Wi-Fi coverage can be extended up to 10,000 sq. ft. When setting this up, I found that it is best not to place it in the actual Wi-Fi dead zone, where there is VERY poor coverage. Instead, it needs to be placed at the “edge” of the existing Wi-Fi reach, where the signal is still decent. You just need to select the Wi-Fi networks and bands (2.4GHz and/or 5GHz) that you wish to extend and confirm the network name and password to expand the wireless coverage. Below is where I found the product really shines: Simple setup – Instead of using a laptop and a complicated web UI, the TP-LINK RE590T provides simple, step-by-step instructions on the integrated touchscreen. This made the configuration and setup a lot less confusing, and also a lot faster. Performance – I noticed a big improvement in Wi-Fi coverage, once configured. It makes a difference being able to connect to your wireless network from all rooms and from outdoors too. I found that since it is an extension of the existing Wi-Fi router (SSID etc), the connection remained seamless as I moved around. Flexibility - Since the RE590T also has built in Ethernet ports, I was able to connect older devices (consoles/DVRs/DVD players/TVs) that use an Ethernet connection instead of built in Wi-Fi. All you need to do is place this Wi-Fi extender close enough to the older device, and then hook up an Ethernet cable from the Wi-Fi range extender to the legacy device. This is great if you do not want to run a long Ethernet cable from the older device to the existing Wi-Fi router/modem. Design – It a very intuitive a touchscreen. I found that it has a really cool feature where the touchscreen can also display a beautifully designed clock! I have been using this Wi-Fi range extender for a while now, and have had zero issues. It is a very effective solution when you have poor coverage or a large home. This was an unbiased review part of the TP-LINK the review program.

This works ok...it does extend the wifi but not too much...only like maybe by 2 or 3 rooms.

Again this TP-Link - AC1900 Touch Screen Wi-Fi Range Extender is ok but do not work right at all.

I had problems connecting with all my Apple products

“This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program.” Greetings, I've had the opportunity to review a Wi-Fi extender model # RE590T by TP-LINK. This extender is really cool, I was able to configure this extender to my network by just using the touch screen display. The configuration couldn't be any easier, all the settings are right there from searching an existing network to assigning a password, setting up parental control, and other settings, heck even has a clock to display. At first, opening the box and installing the antennas, I thought this extender is pretty nice looking, but it may be a bit larger and could pose a challenge to individuals that may not have a suitable location to place the extender. Another idea was to mount it on the wall, but posed another challenge because the back of the unit is designed with a slight angle and when placed on the wall would cause the screen to be facing in a downward position, making a challenge to see the touch screen. What can be done is mount it higher to see the screen or use some type of wall bracket that positions the touch screen vertically for easy viewing. As far as placing on a table or shelf is pretty straight forward and easy to read the touch screen. The performance rocks, it performs like a superstar. My current setup includes a TP-LINK C3150 router and a RE355 extender and was experiencing 300 Mbps standing in close proximity of the router and in other areas further away, approx 90 Mbps with the RE355 extender. When I added the RE590T my Mbps significantly increased from 90 Mbps to 245 Mbps, that's awesome. I went outside my apartment to see what kind of numbers I could achieve. The results were successful, where I was getting 14 Mbps, now around 50 Mbps. I very impressed with the performance, it functions strong and does a great job in extending your wi-fi signal. The price point might be a little more for budget minded individuals, but it does hold its own weight in performance. With all the performance and features like configuration right from the device itself, it's fantastic. If placement is not an issue. This extender will make a great addition to any network that needs extending.

So most importantly it works! Solved my signal issues in the house, I now have signal on all 3 floors. It was also very easy to set up, because of the touchscreen display, which was the reason I choose this product. However , the display stopped working only after few days.....just requested a replacment ...fingers crossed.
