This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. The TP-Link Archer C1900 router has the same semi-vertical 8.7"x6.6"x3.4" format (with permanently attached support stand) as the earlier routers in this series, and looks identical except for being a glossy black. The packaging graphics show that this is a 900mW High Power version, with a 1GHz Dual-Core Processor, Dual Bands, and BeamForming technology. The three Dual Band antennas mount on top of the router, and are detachable. There are eight backlit LED indicator lights on the front, which clearly display the identity and current status of all router functions. There are four Gigabit ethernet LAN ports and one Gigabit WAN port on the back, a USB2 port for printer connection, a USB3 port for a network drive connection, and two on/off switches for main power and for the WiFi channels. The power cord is 60" long, and terminates in a 2.2"x3.5"x1.4" , 3.3 Amp power supply at the plug-in. The Quick Installation Guide clearly identifies the six easy steps for connecting the router, and, after logging into the administrative console, selecting the time zone and internet connection type, and entering any names and passwords you want for your wireless networks, you are good to go in under 3 minutes. The final click is to test your internet connection. I run multiple networks, so I always prefer to set up a new router by connecting it directly to an off-line computer via the provided ethernet cable, re-setting the default (192.168.0.1) router address to something else, thereby preventing conflicts with my cable modem that already uses that address. This also allows me to check and update the router firmware (if needed), and make a few quick adjustments to key functions before connecting the router to my modem and/or my other LAN networks. The firmware on the router was current, as received(FW: 3.17.0 Build 20151009 Rel 61423n). Note that you must go to the US TP-Link site for downloads (http://www.tp-link.us/download/Archer-C1900.html#Utility) of the C1900 firmware or Printer Controller Utility - the current link in the C1900 Administrative Console points to TP-Link.com , which has no C1900 listing. The C1900 appears to be a US product form at present. After verifying that everything is up and running fine, a quick review of the Admin Console starts in the Basic tab, where the Network Map gives a very clean overview of all of the router's attached devices and functions. Simply clicking on any item of interest opens a drop-down window with detailed status information for that item. Basic Internet, Wireless, USB Print Server and File Sharing, and Guest Network settings can all be adjusted on the Basic Tab. Advanced users will find additional and specialized settings options for fine-tuning performance in the Advanced Menu. Most people will likely only need the Advanced Tab for setting up the Guest Networks and for Parental Control settings, in addition to taking care to check/adjust a few Security settings to their needs. Gamers will likely want to enter DMZ settings in the Forwarding Tab, and all should note that UPnP is ON by default. I have been running several different wireless routers (of various vintages) in my two story home, in order to more fully cover the wireless networking needs for my various computers and other devices. Some network routers are for separation and security, but wireless signal strength has been lacking in my remote upstairs corner locations. My cable modem and main router are located in a corner of the basement of our two-story house and the signal to the furthest computers and other devices (streaming to the master bedroom) has been variable. I have had some success with various other devices (range extenders, and trying an added first floor router), but I have been interested in finding a single router that will cover all of the devices in my main general device network. Performance: After setting the C1900 up in my downstairs Modem/Router location, I did a few measurements of signal strengths at my main computer and at my worst computer locations, and did some data transfer rate measurements via ethernet and wireless to the router's USB3 attached storage. The other networks that are also running in the attached graphics are from an older, very highly rated dual-band N600 router located at the same basement router location, and also a channel from an extended network device located on the same level as my computer. As can be seen in the attached graphics, the Archer C1900 signal strengths were 15dB better for the 2.4GHz Channel and 34 dB better for the 5GHz channels when compared to the old N600 router, when measured at my main computer location. The data transfer rates for the USB3 attached drive were 41.9 MBps write and 41.1 MBps read. The Archer C1900 signal strengths at my worst computer location were 11dB and 18dB better than the N600 for the 2.4 GHz and the 5GHz channels, respectively. So, in summary, the TP-Link Archer C1900 router is a great upgrade from my N600 dual band router. Anyone looking to upgrade their router for improved signal strengths at weak locations within their network, and also looking for network printer and file sharing capabilities for all of the network wired and wireless devices will definitely benefit from the addition of a TP-Link Archer C1900 router.

This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. What attracted me to this router was its upright position & its USB ports. I wanted a router that I can plug my printer into via its USB cable (see pic 01) into & that can fit in the crowded area behind my desk. The front-to-back depth of this router is cut in half with this upright TP-Link router (pic 02). As another reviewer suggested, I angled the 2 antennas about 45 degrees & kept the middle one straight in order to get better wireless range. It seemed to work. Good connectivity with no drops & farther range than my usual router. Although we use wi-fi for the most part, I still use wired internet connection for my desktop PC. I like that this has a dedicated ON/OFF wi-fi button plus a USB 3.0 port. This is the kind of multi-purpose router I prefer. Supremely recommended.

Replaced older 2 band router , that kept dropping out with this one. So far, pleased with speed and range. I no longer need a range extender. Only complaint is difficult to setup. Had to have tec come to house to install.

This router was exactly what I expected. Great quality as the C9, only with a higher power output and even greater range. I have a 150Mbps download at home and i can get the full download rate from anywhere inside my home. At work, I have the same router. I use the three directional antennas to get full coverage inside a 4,400sqft metal building where the previous routers would completed lose signal on the 5.8Ghz 802.11AC, the router covers the entire office.

Replaced a failed Apple AirPort Extreme. Followed the instructions super-carefully and installed their Tether app on my iPhone. What were once fast WiFi connections became stupid fast! You might want more bells and whistles or a higher top end or a net configuration, but this is perfect for my needs in a 1,000 sq ft condo.

This router is dual band (both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz) but I have to say, the 5Ghz band is surprisingly long compared to other dual band routers. I can get the 5Ghz signal from my room upstairs that is about 10-15 meters from the device, with walls between. Very easy to install and to manage from the Tether app

Had to get a new router as my room mate moved out and took my previous one. This one is awesome. A breeze to set up, really nice and in-depth control panel. Getting about 90% of wired speed on my wireless devices.

After a little research I found that this TP-Link Archer C1900 router is almost the same as the TP-Link C9, with one main difference. Apart from the color difference (one black and the other white), this Archer C1900 has a higher powered amplifier/antenna (900mW) compared to the C9. Since I own both, I found that this little change meant that the C1900 really delivers much better range and speed, thanks to the higher power. Below is where I found this device really shines: Design/Performance – This router is truly great looking. It is black, sleek and has nice blue lights. It sits vertically, rather than horizontally like most routers. I actually feel that the upright design improves the performance, since the antennas sit much higher. This is why I combined the design and performance aspects of the device when reviewing. The antennas 3 antennas can be pointed to any direction, but I found that keeping the left and right antennas at a 45-degree angle and the center antenna straight up, gave the best coverage and performance. The dual core CPU allows for many connected devices at the same time. Functionality – I like that this has a dedicated ON/OFF Wi-Fi button, and also a USB 3.0 port. With a USB 3.0 port and a USB 2.0 port, it’s easy to share printers, files, and media across your network. Best of all, you can also use this C1900 router to access files while away from home through the FTP server. It also has 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports to connect local/non-Wi-Fi devices to the network. This is the kind of multi-purpose router I prefer. Simple Setup – I was up and running with this device in no time, and it was very easy to setup. The instructions were very clear, and you do not need to load any dreaded CD based drivers or instructions. Overall, this is a solid Wi-Fi router and the higher powered amplifier makes a big difference to the performance. This was an unbiased review part of the TP-LINK the review program.

Went from like 30Mbps per second to 227 Mbps. It was a great price too.

Not opened yet, due to house not being completed, but it is sleek and space efficient.

Still in use several years later. Works as it did the day I bought it. Have added and removed devices and moved it around plugging and unplugging...have never had an issue.

Not sure if it’s just my modem or this router, but my connection isn’t too great at all most of the time. Scrolling through Facebook video threads isn’t fun either. Causes too many loading stops

The router setup was quick and simple. I was up and running within 10 minutes with no problems or issues. Good documentation but not needed.

This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. I'm very happy with the performance of this TPLink C9 AC1900 dual band router, and found it to be an inexpensive solution to boost my wireless signal to the dead areas of my house that my ISP's router couldn't reach. I plugged it in, logged in through a web browser, and in only a few minutes it was connected to the Internet and broadcasting a strong signal. I reviewed the setup through the mobile Tether app, just to test that method, and both were incredibly easy. My ISP's gateway only provides a single band, but the C9 router automatically set up dual bands of 2.4 and 5 GHz. I compared the connection speed using speedtest.net at various spots in the house between the router and the dead area, and found it to be more than double the speed I was getting before. This was reproducible on several devices. By trial and error, I adjusted the three antennas to better direct the signal toward the dead areas of my house. Although the speed dropped a bit, the signal was good and uninterrupted to about 75 feet away. Previously I had tried a range extender from a different brand, but I couldn't get a reliable signal to the dead area. There are 4 gigabit ethernet ports and 2 USB ports. I attached a printer to the USB 2.0 port and external drive to the USB 3.0 port, getting good transfer rates for documents and images without any errors. I especially like the guest network, so visitors can connect to the Internet without compromising the security of my own network. I also like the build quality and design of the router, the convenient location of the LEDs and ports, and upright orientation which makes a small footprint.

tried setting the router up, but would not work, talked to someone at tp-link for about an hour, could not get router setup, they told me it was probably something with the software and for me to send it back, so I returned back to best buy for a refund.

I love this router. It is aesthetically please with clean white indicator lights against a black background. Setup is easy & it provides a consistently strong signal to all of my wireless devices wherever they were located in my rather large apartment. I purchased this router (v2.0) as replacement for another TP-Link C1900 (v1.0) that I had bought from New Egg about a year earlier. The New Egg router had run flawlessly until the night I left my PC running to complete a large (95GB) download. Go figure, Windows 10 decided to update that same night. The following morning I could not connect to the Internet via the router. After spending hours attempting to fix the problem, I contacted TP-Link tech support via email. They responded almost immediately with clear, easily understandable guidance. After several days of email exchanges & one telephone call, it was decided to RMA the router. I returned the New Egg (v1.0) router to TP-Link. I received the replacement router (v2.0) yesterday, 4 April 2019. I now have two, one of which I will probably give away to family or friends. Both this router & the great tech support have convinced to look to TP-Link first for wireless needs.

This is a very fine router, works great, very easy to set up. The speed and range of this router is amazing! I get perfect coverage in my apartment. I can venture outside at least 30 ft before I see degradation in signal. Love it!
