      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Please bear in mind Powerline data transfer rates will vary due to network environment variables including: distance between adapters, network traffic, noise on electrical wires, building material and construction, quality of electrical installation and other adverse conditions.

First, please ensure both Powerline adapters are plugged directly into wall outlets - no surge protectors or power strips as these will directly interfere with the connection. We recommend following the suggestions outlined in our FAQ here to help optimize the performance of your Powerline connection: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-409.html

If you'd like assistance with any of these steps, please reach out to our free support team using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

      Thank you,

Works as intended...speeds nowhere close to 500Mb

Did the job as intended so I did not have to run cat5/6 cable. However, the speeds are nowhere close to 500MB. Between devices I can get about 25MB. My speed tests show close to 50MB out to the internet when connected to the router. When you connect to the powerline and test speeds, you only get about 6-12MB depending on how far you are from the source router. I had read before buying that the speeds were slower than advertised, so this was not a surprise or a big deal. The bottom line is, it did what I wanted and was much easier/cheaper than running cable throughout my house.

Works Great to Supplement PS4 Networking

I was unable to get my PS4 to connect to my wireless router running in my house. So I looked into this device to solve the issue. It works great. For PS4 owners, the wifi built into the system is not very good (especially if the system is far from your router). The TP Link will solve the issue. One end is plugged into the router and the other device is plugged into your PS4 (or other device depending upon what you are using it for) and it picks up the connection from the router no problem.

Definitely worked. Allowed me to connect a non-wifi capable NVR to internet without string Cat 6 through the house. It will not give you gaming or HD streaming speeds, especially if the outlets are not on the same breaker (If they are on different circuits, these may work and may not. Really depends on your home wiring). If the outlets share a common breaker (as recommended) just plug them in, hit the pairing button and BOOM you have internet. But as I said, my NVR is not designed for networking but with these I now have it on the same mobile app as my wifi cameras.

Easy to configure. Plug both in and hit sync. DONE. I have 2 story house. Gateway is upstairs, so placed one unit there. Xbox downstairs was having some slow wireless connections. Installed 2nd unit downstairs, plugged Ethernet cable in and auto connected. Great speed now. Looking to buy a few more to "hardwire" a few other wireless devices as well... would definitely buy again.

The product is easy to install and configure. The only downside is that it is my cable speed at the modem is 200+ mbps, but at the network jack I'm only getting 40+ mbps. The speed isn't what I expected.

      Dear Reno4me,

Thank you for providing your feedback on our product.

We are sorry to hear the adapters are not performing as expected. Please keep in mind, the signal could be running into interference due to the distance between the adapters, network traffic, noise on electrical wires, building material and construction, quality of electrical lines and other adverse conditions.

If you have any other questions or concerns in the future, please email us your contact information so we may have a support technician reach out to you directly.

The general consensus for powerline adapters is you shouldn't connect them to surge protectors or power strips due to some technical details about how the signals are filtered going through those instead of directly into an outlet. I actually got it to work better when one end was connected to a power strip because I didn't have any ethernet cables that could connect from an accessible outlet to my router. This item does come with a roughly 6 foot ethernet cable for each adapter, so two 6 ft cables in total. It's very easy to use the button to sync the powerline adapters, and instructions are included in the box. I noticed that I didn't have to sync them after doing it the first time. So, it's good if you need to use them in different places in your house. The max bandwidth that this thing can carry is probably a lot higher than what most people get from their internet provider. I used this to get a internet connection on my PS4 since the wifi card on it is notoriously poor. No network drops while I used this. I would recommend this if you need something better than a wifi connection but you don't want to run cables all over your house.

The adapters are good only if the distance between the 2 sockets where you plug them are on the same breakers. The moment you have it on socket of another breaker the speds drop to significantly. If you are planning on using it between 2 separate until i.e. on a breaker on a sub panel, the speeds are very low, about 0.1Mbps. This is good only if you have a very clear and short path where you intend on using it.

Bought this for my sons PS4. He's been running wireless and constantly kept complaining about lag and connection issues. Plugged these in a few weeks ago and no complaints as of yet. Speed is a little faster nothing spectacular, but no lag or connection issues at all.

I bought these to help me connect my Nintendo Switch to my wifi because it has difficulty connecting from my room to the router downstairs. This product in combination with a LAN adapter and an ethernet cable resolved the issues I was having instantly! Setting up this product is really simple and easy to use and I believe you can also pair these two with a third one if you have one. It's a good product that served my needs and I don't regret purchasing it.

They truly are plug and play. I got a connection, but it was slower than my WiFi. I've been in IT for 35 years and tried all the troubleshooting steps. No go. I believe the root cause is that my home office is on a different phase than the router location. I could have had an electrician come in to bridge the phases, but to have someone come in and run CAT-6 is about the same price and I *know* that works. They may perform exceptionally in your case, but not in mine. It won't hurt to try them, just be sure to make sure they are returnable if they don't meet your needs.

It's great to have the option of networking your non WiFi device in a location with no Ethernet connection. This does a good job of bridging the gap. My only issue that wasn't mentioned anywhere prior to purchase was, to get full bandwidth, they need to be plugged in on the same circuit. Not always feasible which limits it's capabilities. Though I do get sufficient bandwidth plugged into different circuits so it's still quite useful.

      Hi joecaffe,

Thank you for sharing your experience with our product; we're happy to hear you're enjoying the functionality and convenience offered by our Powerline Ethernet solution. We understand your concerns regarding using the Powerline adapters across more than one circuit.

Please note that the TL-PA4010Kit utilizes the HomePlug AV standard, which requires both adapters to be on the same main circuit, and performs optimally when both adapters are on the same breaker. If your scenario requires the adapters to traverse breakers, but remain on the same main circuit panel, we would suggest considering one of our HomePlug AV2 compatible models instead, such as the TL-PA7010 Kit.

Our Support Team is always happy to answer any questions you might have about our products. Please feel free to e-mail [email protected] and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

My house is old and doesn't have Ethernet wiring to each room like newer ones do. Great way to get the speed of hardline connection if you can't or don't want to add Ethernet wiring through your walls. Now I'm getting close to what I'm actually paying for.

I used these as a last resort on giving my wife's desktop a stable internet connection. After using some WiFi extenders and finding the one's I used didn't work, I gave the TP-Link a try. I managed to keep my wife's desktop from dropping it's internet connection with this product. While it does not give our full 400mbps of fiber speed with Fios, it does keep her internet from dropping since it is connected with ethernet. Great product and would recommend, as always your results may vary.
