This is probably the best camera Ive ever bought and definitely the most reliable. I made the mistake of buying a ring camera about a month ago and it is a piece of junk. My tapo is honestly THE BEST and I wish I had bought a second one.

Very pleased with this purchase. First, the app is well thought out and controls and settings are where it "just makes sense" for them to be. Second, the clarity is fantastic. I've seen some cameras that were the same resolution that didn't look this good. Very feature rich for the price.

As an avid tech enthusiast, I'm constantly on the lookout for innovative gadgets that elevate my home's security. The TP-Link Tapo TC73 Pan/Tilt AI Wired Security Camera is my latest addition, and boy, has it changed the game! With its impressive 2K UHD video quality and smart motion tracking, this camera has surpassed my expectations. Installation and Setup Setting up the Tapo TC73 was a breeze. Thanks to the straightforward instructions, I had it up and running in no time. The included mounting hardware made installation a cinch, allowing me to position it optimally in my home. Plus, the wired connection ensures a stable and reliable connection, vital for a security camera. Picture Quality The 2K UHD video is a noticeable upgrade from the typical 1080p cameras I've used before. The clarity and detail are superb, providing crisp visuals day and night. The infrared night vision works like a charm, ensuring I can monitor my basement even in complete darkness. Whether it's the kids playing or just keeping an eye on my house, this camera delivers impeccable image quality. Pan/Tilt Functionality The Pan and Tilt features are game-changers. I can remotely control the camera's movement via the Tapo app, covering every angle with ease. It's perfect for checking on my kids in the basement while I'm upstairs. The smooth, precise movements make this camera a joy to operate, and I can even create presets for frequently monitored spots. Smart Motion Tracking One of the standout features of this camera is its intelligent motion tracking. When it detects movement, it automatically follows the subject, providing uninterrupted monitoring. While it's incredibly effective, I did notice a slight delay in tracking during very rapid movements, which is a minor quibble considering its overall performance. Tapo App The Tapo app is a revelation. It's incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. Setting up motion detection zones, adjusting camera settings, and viewing live feeds is a breeze. I particularly appreciate the timeline feature that lets me quickly review recorded events. The app also allows multiple users to access the camera, ensuring my wife stays connected and informed. The TP-Link Tapo TC73 Pan/Tilt AI Wired Security Camera in white has exceeded my expectations. Its 2K UHD video quality, smart motion tracking, and ease of use through the Tapo app make it an outstanding addition to my home security arsenal. Whether you're a tech enthusiast or a concerned parent like me, this camera is a must-have. Say goodbye to blind spots and hello to peace of mind!

I wanted to like this device because the baby crying notifications are great, however whenever you enable the HDR setting, grey bars appear over the video. This occurs despite whatever combination of settings are chosen or if you reset the device. Ive reached out to Tapo's customer service and they still havent helped correct this issue I had right out of the box when I purchased the device new, a few days ago from Best Buy.

If the network blips at all, which unfortunately ours does semi-regularly, the camera will just give up and fail until you unplug it and plug it back in. This means our uptime is something like 10%. Waste of money.

      Hello Colin,

This may be more of a symptom of your router. It is most likely a DHCP issue. The best thing to do is assign the camera a reserved address this way its always trying to acquire the same IP and there is no possibility of a lease or conflict issue with the IP being assigned. Doing so should solve the concern but if it doesn't our support team is available for free and 24 hours a day. Just call 866-225-8139 or email us at [email protected]

      Best Regards

Tapo TC73 has earned a spot at my front door

TP-Link has become a trusted brand for me. I have over 20 smart light switches, 5 smart plugs. I've had their WiFi routers and a travel router. They make solid products. I have tried many different WiFi cameras (Arlo, Eufy, D-Link, Google and Wyze). The TP-Link Tapo TC73 has gained its place as my new foyer camera. My previous camera was the Wyze Cam v2 sitting on a table facing my front door. I got it because it was on clearance. It's been a decent performer, but Wyze has a 'cool down' period of 5 minutes before it can record again. Unless you pay for their cloud storage. Not wanting to get tied up with that, I started to look elsewhere. As I said, TP-Link has become a trusted brand for me, so I quickly scanned their products and decided to give the Tapo TC73 a try. The Tapo TC73 is a WiFi camera that doesn't need a base station. It has a Micro SD Card slot that accommodates up to 512 GB cards. It has pan and tilt capability and an AI that will help it to track moving subjects. Upon setup, I was slightly disappointed to learn that I had to install another application on my phone. Since I already have over 25 TP-Link smart devices, I was well ingrained in the Kasa ecosystem. But I was relieved to find that the Tapo app imported all of my Kasa devices and groups. So I can get rid of my Kasa app and move to the Tapo app now. Setup of the TC73 was pretty easy in the Tapo app. I did forget to add my microSD card at first, but the setup process is very forgiving in that regard. I rolled the camera up and found the card slot and added my 64 GB card that I had laying around the house. It immediately recognized the card but I had to format it in the camera. That went very quickly and I was able to set up the camera with a couple waypoints in the panning path with ease. The camera itself is very nice quality. The image is sharp and the colors are quite accurate. As I moved around the room, it was tracking me with ease. After this quick introduction to the Tapo line of cameras, I may replace my other Wyze cameras around the house with the Tapo equivalent. While the Wyze cameras were cheap. I really like the image quality from the Tapo TC73, I like the constant recording with no 'cool down' period, and I want to drive down to a point where I only need 1 app on my phone for all the smart devices in my house.

I picked up the TP Link TC73 Security Camera so that I could keep an eye on my dogs while I was at work, and also talk to be able to talk to them remotely with the 2 way audio if I see them getting upset about something. The setup of the camera was pretty seamless. I had it out of the box and hooked up within about 10 minutes! Then I downloaded the TAPO app on my iPhone, which only took a few minutes to get on my phone. The full setup on the iOS app only took a few minutes as well. After that I was up and running, and I have really enjoyed using this camera! It is the first camera I have had that allow me to pan and tilt, which is a total game changer! Now I can scan the room looking for my dogs, and once I find them I can easily follow them around the house! The two way audio has worked great as well, I can definitely see their reaction to me talking to them which is exactly what I have been looking for! Overall if you are looking for an easy to use camera that allows you to pan and tilt all around the room, without breaking the bank, this is an excellent choice!

What can I say about this camera. First off the resolution on it is amazing. the images that you ca see are so vivid and clear. I was surely impressed with the resolution. when you think of most cameras you get resolution that isn’t very clear, fuzzy or dim . Most does it record when the subject is moving or moves out of the way of the camera but this one does. When yo move out of the way of the lens, his camera moves with the subject. this is one thing i love about it because you get an all around clear view of all the action around your property. Another plus about this camera is the clear and articulate audio. No static or muffled sounds. this camera would be good for your nursery. You can put this camera in your nursery and heck on your hold and not disturb them when you just laid them down for the night or for a nap. You can customize specific Zones for recoding. My basement gets a lot of recording so i can turn this off since it is a high traffic area that the family uses i would have to say that this is one camera that I would all around my home.

What a great little home security camera! I am using it with Apple HomeKit, and I’ve had no problems after a small issue that prevented the camera from talking to my specific router. TP-Link product support after tier 1 is amazing. Being able to ceiling mount the camera is great. If you want to use the camera on a ceiling mount, you need to program it with the Tapo app, set the camera to “Invert Picture” in the Tapo app’s “Video and Display” options, then after it has been added, use the Tapo app to add the camera to your Apple HomeKit. HomeKit integration is great, it uses the face recognition from my known people to decide if it will pop an alert or record based on who it sees. It also recognizes the cat, which is fun. The movement motors are quiet, the pan (base- side to side) motor is louder than the tilt (ball- up and down) motor. The sound is barely noticeable at any real distance over any A/C or other noise in the house. There is a click as the camera goes into night mode and back, but it’s not intrusive. Picture quality is good, better with more light, of course, but good in all lighting conditions in my basement, even understanding the bright spot is the window and adjusting the exposure to make sure it isn’t blinded to the rest of the room. 2K video is a bit overkill for recordings and transferring clips, but the camera’s high pixel count is probably to be credited for the fast and accurate face recognition. The Micro-SD card gets slotted in under the lens, you just roll the ball section up and pop it in. There is very good recording and zone customization in the Tapo app, HomeKit is limited to basic options, but the camera can work with either app if it is learned into both, so you can use the Tapo app to make position adjustments, etc. and still use your HomeKit app for viewing, recording, and automations. For example, when I walk into the basement door, the camera will recognize me and turn on the light down here, which is quite nice. It seems with the right equipment, you can use the camera for triggering all kinds of responses based on what hardware you have installed for your smart house system. The two way talk works very well, and I do like that I have the option to record audio or not when the camera is saving to the SD card. Overall, this is a wonderful little camera full of features and high quality. I would recommend it!
