When reading the product description it specifically said could be use with a phone or tablet. Upon receiving the plug and trying to get it to connect numerous times I contacted customer support only to find out that the product summary was incorrect and the plug only worked with a phone app not a tablet app, which unfortunately is what I want to use it with. Returned it to the store for a refund and purchased a WEMO plug from Lowes that worked perfectly with my tablet. Lot of wasted time.

      Hello,

      Thank you for your review.

The Smart Plug is compatible with phones and tablets that are running Android 4.1 (or higher) or iOS (8 or higher). Please note the iOS app is designed for the iPhone so when searching for the application you must change the filter to iPhone only but once installed will function fine.

Please do not hesitate to contact our support team if you have any questions or comments as we would be happy to assist you.

This product has a nice design but it is somewhat bulky for a plug. I like how I can control devices using my phone. I don't have to come to a dark home and I can turn off downstairs' light without walking down. I can also set the schedule for devices to turn on and off at specific times. I can also monitor how much power is being consumed by my computer, TV, refrigerator, etc... It also claims to work well with Echo and Alexa but I am not familiar with those products. I think HS110 is a great toy for tech savvy people who can get ton of use out of it. If you are shopping for a smart plug, you should buy HS110. It delivered everything it said it would and it was very easy to use them. This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program.

    Very easy setup, reliable performance

I'm very pleased with the performance of this smart plug, I can just set it and forget it like my growing collection of smart plugs and bulbs. Setup and management is a breeze with the free mobile Kasa app, and I can even control it remotely from anywhere if I link it through my free TP-Link Cloud account. The schedule can easily be changed, and my family likes the ability to control it using voice commands with Amazon Alexa or Google Home. Placement of the plug within range of our wireless router has given us very reliable connections. When we chose a location too far from the main router, we were able to connect it to our TP-Link range extender for excellent results. The HS110 also includes energy monitoring. Although the size of this device requires using the top plug of a pair and you cannot put two of these plugs into the same pair, the bottom plug can still be used for another device that has a regular-size plug. I don't see that as an issue, since I don't want to group my smart plugs together. I prefer to spread them further apart across several rooms. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

The plug doesn’t work with a dual band router. You have to switch to 2.4 every time you want to use it. Why have 5hz if you can’t use it

      Hi,

Thank you for your review. Dual-Band Routers do not typically separate the devices on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands -- these frequencies simply offer different levels of connectivity and performance for the same logical network. The smart plug being connected to the 2.4GHz band will not prevent it from being managed by devices connecting through the 5GHz band of your router.

This product is very simple to set up(approximately 10 minutes to setup one device, including downloading the app). I used an iPhone and found the short instructions included with the package to be more than sufficient. The account necessary to manage the switch is quick to set up as well and does not ask for invasive details. The app details energy usage of the device controls the outlet with very little delay in speed. The whole system is 100% wireless, which is definitely nice. I found this to be everything I expected, with the added bonus of being able to track energy consumption on the outlet. I am a fan of the suite of smart devices from TP-Link and this is no exception. Being able to remotely turn on and off a smart plug is excellent. Set up was super easy with the Kasa app and seeing energy usage is great!. The only downside is unlike one of the other plugs that TP-Link carries, this one takes up an entire outlet so you essentially lose a spot to plug things in. Pretty Neat Device!

TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug HS110 The Smart Plug works with your existing wireless network. Setup is pretty easy once you have installed the free Kasa app, which is how you will turn your smart plug, and anything plugged in to them, on and off. And yes, you will be able to control your smart plug from anywhere in the world with your smartphone or tablet, as long as you have internet access. And for those of you wanting to take the cool factor up a notch, by controlling the smart plug with voice commands, you can set it up with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. Note: At first, I could not find the Kasa app in the app store for my iPad. I contacted TP-Link about this, and they were able to help. In the App Store, there is an option to filter searches for “iPad Apps” and “iPhone Apps”. After changing to search for iPhone apps, I was able to find the app. Not sure why it mattered, as the app works with any iOS device running iOS 8 or higher. For those of you wanting to have multiple devices come on at once, like maybe a lamp, radio, fan or TV, plug a power strip into the smart plug, then plug those devices into the power strip. When you turn the smart plug on, those devices that are plugged into the power strip will all come on too. I simply have the HS110 controlling a lamp right now, and it has worked great! For security purposes, you may purchase additional smart plugs for other outlets around your home or business, and have them all set to come on at different times of the night while you’re away- turning on lights throughout your home or business, which gives the appearance that someone is home. The HS110 smart plugs are pretty neat devices, and can be extremely useful around your home or business. There are many cool things you can do with one, I just wish it was smart enough to put the toilet seat down once I leave the restroom. :) Submitted as part of a free sample program

TP-Link Smart Plug, No Hub Required

If you want to venture into the world of Smart Home automation, the TP-Link Smart Wi-Fi Plug (HS110) is a great place to start. My first TP-Link device was the Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini. That device is a little smaller and does not cover up as much of the second outlet when plugged in to the top outlet. If plugged into the bottom, it will cover both outlets. Setup is a breeze. You first download the Kasa app from your preferred app store (Apple’s App Store or Google Play). You plug the device in and following the directions in the app. This involves connecting the device to your Wi-Fi network through your phone or tablet. You then go back to the app and finish the setup. From start to finish it took about two minutes. There was a firmware update I needed to do and then I was ready to go! The Kasa app allows you to turn the Smart Plug on from anywhere you are connected to the Internet. That is so handy if you forgot to leave a light on when you left the house. It also works woth Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It is very easy to add you plug to the Smart Home section of the Alexa app. It then allows youi to control the plug with your voice! The only difference between the HS100 and HS110 is the energy monitoring feature. It will allow you to check the electric usage on the plug. You can check the current power in W and the total consumption in kWh. It also gives you an average for 7 & 30 days. You can use the Kasa app to create a schedule when you want the plug to turn on/off and set up an away mode. When in Away Mode, during the period of time, your device will be randomly turned on or off. The TP-Link website describes it “It deters bad guys by setting your lights to turn on and off on a schedule so it seems like you’re home when you are actually away.” It also has a timer mode. I have installed TP-Link Smart Plug minis and Smart Light Switches and they all work flawlessly. It comes with a 2 year warranty and 24/7 Tech Support. What does not to like. Give it a try. I’m pretty sure you will be back to buy some more! Submitted as part of a free sample program.

This is a review of a free product received from TP-LINK as part of the review program. Setup of this smart switch is simple and just need to follow direction from setup wizard. For unknow reason my Samsung Android Note4 app had trouble pairing with this smart switch. I tried several times by reinstall the app and reset the switch but nothing worked. I had to finally pair it with iOS then Android app picked up the switch. It has been fun to have a remote switch for my lamp and i had set the switch for travel and it will light up when we come home after work at different time. Hopefully newer firmware update will include IFTTT function.

This smart plug works perfectly. Setup, and function work flawlessly. I added this plug to my bedroom to turn my lights off when going to sleep and waking up to lights on. The monitoring feature is an excellent way for my me to manage energy used. This works great as a security device when I'm away from home, which I can activate anywhere I am. I think its a little big though but works great with the Kasa app and with Alexa it's perfect addition to one's home automation arsenal. Simple Smart Wi-Fi Plug

The TP-Link HS110 Smart Wi-Fi plug is a simple and easy-to-use. It's main function is to manage plugged-in electronics. You can do this remotely with your phone or you can create a schedule and have the devices automatically turn on and off when you want. The smart plug also provides energy monitoring for those curious how much money their spending to run specific devices.

This smart plug is great, I use it to power on my living room lights and have a schedule set. Easy to setup via the app and have been very happy so far. No problems with turning them on/off with the app as well. Only thing I wish was that it wasn't that bulky other than that it works great. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

    Can't stop with just 1...

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is my 4th TP-Link smart plug. Once you start hooking these up around the house and having them do the many different things that you can get them to, you won't be able to stop. We use ours with our Echo dots, love being able to set up "groups" and "scenes" in the Smart Home options in the Echo app. For example, "turn on the living room" right now turns up all of the lights in the living room (and over the holidays, the Christmas tree - much to my son's delight). Very easy to set up and to change via the Kasa app, and have only experienced 1 outage in the year or so that we'd had these plugs (just needed to unplug and plug in again). The energy monitoring feature on this particular plug is neat so I'm encouraged to use the scheduling feature to save some electricity. Now I want to get the smart bulbs and smart switches and Alexa would run my whole house... Submitted as part of a free sample program.

I bought this to control a fan in my house for my pet. On hot summer days, since I don't have central a/c at my house, during the day when I'm at work when it's scorching hot, I am able to turn on the fan remotely for her. It's a lifesaver for her. I can move the plug anytime, anywhere, and plug other appliances into it. Super easy to setup. Took me 2 mins to setup and program. GREAT PRODUCT! Couldn't be more satisfied with this plug. My pet is very happy as well!
