    Best Mesh Wi-Fi Period

I went back and forth between the AMPLIFI, Orbi and Google. I initially went with Google because my ISP is Google Fiber, seemed like a no brainer. Well that was far from true. The Google WiFi system had a solid reliable signal but it was slow when I wasn’t in the same room as one of the access points. I pay to Gigabit speeds up and down and would only get 60meg at best. I took it back and exchanged it for the AmpliFi and I am glad I did. Incredible speeds, reliable signal and ridiculously simple to install. I’m averaging 325Mbps up and just under 400 down (speeds on my iPhone X and the the same on my MacBook and iPad Pro) If you want the best Mesh system buy this one. The two cons if I have to name some is the mesh points don’t have Ethernet connections and the USB port on the back of the main router is dormant. Ubiquiti says it’s for future development. If the were to update the USB for an external hard drive with Time Machine backup, there would be NO QUESTION of being the best router on the market. For now it is only the best Mesh System.

I put this system in a 2-story 3000 sq ft "Frank Lloyd Wright" style home with concrete construction. Due to the time period this house was built, all utilities (including cable) enter the property at the ground level which, for half of the home, sits below ground level. Consequently the our wifi base has to live in "the basement"--a less than ideal location--as there is no direct pathway for ethernet or rg6 (coax cable) to get to the upper level of the house. We bought the Amplifi because if it's "high density technology" and the positive ratings it received for coverage in structures like ours. We did see coverage improvement over our older model access points especially between floors directly above the base station. Our antennas are placed at a distance labeled "good" by the phone app (i.e. 4-5 bars). Again, limited by the construction of the home (i.e. no power outlets in the hallways due to hallways housing closets and storage) our antenna placement is not quite ideal, but adequate. We did notice that devices connecting through the antennas rather than the base unit had speed tests significantly lower (35mbps vs. 100+mbps) than those connected to the base station, however, the speeds through the antennas are fine for our needs. The phone app is helpful post setup to monitor speeds and connectivity. We did find some devices falling off the network for unknown reasons. In an attempt to fix that we changed the device optimization to "media" (from "normal") and for whatever reason performance and connectivity improved for those devices (mostly phones and tablets). Additionally, the app provides you with detailed info about devices connecting to your network (or your "guest network" if activated) and allows you to pause connections for all or select devices. Lastly, you can set the network up without the app according to the vendor, however, I did not explore that option. I feel like the Ubiquiti Amplifi was a bit over-hyped but at the same time, it is a significant improvement from our former wifi router/access point configuration (4 yrs old) and works in our hard-to-cover property.

I bought this system after my NetGear Orbi started dropping multiple times a day. Comparing the two systems I wish I had bought the Amplifi HD to begin with and saved myself a lot of wasted money. The Amplifi HD system was easy to setup through the quick start guide and APP. The APP is much better then the Netgear APP in my opinion as well. Currently I am running with the default settings and have seen no reason to mess with them. Coverage is excellent throughout my home, I finally have no dead spots. I get about 160mbps on my phone with a 200mbps internet plan through Shrewsburys only provider SELCO. I'm pleased with those numbers which again are higher then what I saw with the Orbi. Streaming HD video while playing online games like Fortnite as not been an issue at all. The router works as it should, I get my 200mbps on any wired device in the home. Plug and Play. Lastly I will say that the Amplifi HD looks great... maybe not something everyone cares about but I love the modern look. If you are looking for a plug and play mesh wifi system I highly recommend you get the Amplfi HD.

I replaced an old Apple Airport router because my Samsung Smart TV wouldn't connect to it. I was paying for 200 mbps and speed tests were showing 30 mbps. Time to upgrade. I chose Amplifi Out of the box, took about 20 minutes to fully setup. Got greater speeds (download, 210-212 mbps), then what I pay for (200mbps) from my ISP. Those speeds were right by the main router. I live in a 2700 sq ft split level home. Getting about 160-180 mbps (download) on each of the 2 other floors where the mesh points are. The app itself is great. Can check for updates or how each mesh point is performing, as well as a lot of other advanced settings including adding a guest network. Price wise it's not cheap, but I'm a believer in you get what you pay for. I researched for hours on different mesh systems and after talking to an IT professional who works on home systems, he recommended this one. I do wish I was able to use the USB port, but as of now and from what I've read, they are not working on any firmware upgrades to activate this. But, for what I need, it's been good so far. Hopefully stays that way.

Wireless coverage with speed and flexibility

I reviewed the market extensively for a wireless mesh system for my new 5000 sq.ft 2 floor + basement house and finally landed on this one. With AT&T gigapower fiber in the house, I wanted a device which would support faster speeds, reach all over the house and also give me the flexibility to move around as needed. After researching Eero (expensive), Google Wifi (not enough throughput for me), Orbi (liked it but expensive), Velop (seems another good one), Milo (not enough throughput), Nighthawk (extremely powerful but only one device and was concerned about total reach on all floors and basement), I landed up with this Amplifi device. The device is sleek, setup is easy and everything can be controlled from the app, which is extremely convenient. Also the two additional antenna type devices plug in to wall outlets and keep coverage across the house. There are a number of features I like about this device: (1) internet control for kids, (2) device prioritization for streaming (3) dual band automatic switching based on where I am in the house (4) guest access control and expiry (5) ability to move the mesh around to the farthest corners of the basement (6) route prioritization (7) performance checks without the need for okla...the list goes on. In some areas I am getting close to 780 Megs/Sec download speeds, in others as low as 180 Megs/Sec, but for someone who had Xfinity 100 MBPS and was getting only 30-40 gigs in the past, I am a very happy camper. Especially, since I have cut the chord on my cable and only use online on-demand TV. And no more phones at home, just my cellphone which uses wireless inside. I have 2 phones, 3 tablets, 3 TVs, 1 Apple TV, 1 Roku, 1 Alexa, 2 desktop computers + guests who use the wifi network, and it runs without a glitch. Streaming is awesome and there is never a blip, thanks to this device. In fact, I keep it hidden even though it looks awesome and from inside the cabinet it works. And it is less expensive than many. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a device that provides good coverage, good throughput, flexibility to move the mesh around, sleek and easy to setup at a less than $350 price point.

To date I have tried 2 different products from Ubiquiti and both fail to meet their claims. I have gigabit internet and this unit only passes 280-340 Mbps on the WIRED connection. If I use any other router I own, I get 850-990Mbps. This AmpliFi HD has EXTREMELY LIMITED CAPABILITIES and very few settings you can adjust. No options for adjusting QoS (Quality of Service) or bandwidth per device or ANYTHING of the sort. The WiFi only broadcasts a 5GHz network which is (supposedly) fast, but weak. That means you have to be close to an antenna or your ability to get their already slow speeds diminishes quickly. It's just pure trash. No features, no capacity, no adjustability... nothing. I don't understand all these positive reviews.

No more messing with range extenders that slow you down and make you change networks as you walk around. This is THE SOLUTION to large spaces that need a good wifi signal. I have a 4000+ square foot house. Coverage with even the best $400+ router was spotty at best. This fixes that problem. Its small, easy to deploy and the antennas are easy to move around and get the best performance. I was up and running in less that 1/2 hour. The firmware updates come from time to time which shows that development is still active. You can see the Apple Developer in the product design. Solid performance in a good looking package. Trust me when I say that this will be a game changer in your house as it was in mine,

Great Mesh Router in the Best Form Factor!

The Amplifi HD Wireless Mesh router ticked all of the important boxes for me. The setup was extremely easy via their app. The app itself is designed very well, and affords control over all devices on the network, including the kids' wifi devices (very handy at bedtime). Setting up a Guest network could not be easier, just turn it on or off with the app, simple! The form factor of mesh satellites are the best part. The Orbi (super huge and ugly) and Google (not bad looking) system satellites need to be placed on a table or counter which limit the placement options, these just plug into and live on any outlet. Overall performance has been solid, I do have better coverage over my previous Asus Router and Repeater. I can get Wifi in garage, and with a mesh point upstairs, can get all bedrooms no problem. Overall speed is good, over 100mb/s when close by, goes to 60-80 when out of sight, and 30 or so through exterior walls. There are faster mesh systems, like Orbi using dedicated third band. However, this unit is plenty fast and chances are you would be waiting on websites rather than your router anyway. Video streaming is instant and constant If you want super easy set up and operation, need to put satellite mesh points where there is no table, this one is your answer. Would recommend it!

I've been using Ubiquity for wireless networking requirements in my line of work since 2008. They are wireless networking EXPERTS and nailed it with this product for home use! WAY BETTER than any "popular" brand. Excellent range, super simple setup, a no-brainer, and excellent speed and signal! You can't go wrong, and won't be disappointed!

One day in and my speed has improved immensely. I purchased this router after extensive consideration of the Netgear Orbi system. In the end, some recent firmware issues with Netgear pushed me towards Amplifi. I'm happy I did. The setup was easy (used the app, though I was skeptical) and the performance is great. I'm a technology-smart person who doesn't work in IT but makes these decisions after careful consideration.

This router was definitely a great purchase. It was very easy to set up and covers a lot of area. Great speeds through WiFi and the app for the phone is extremely nice! You are able to see which devices are using WiFi, allow guests, reset the router, and check speeds through the app! Definitely worth the money spent on a great router!

I work in IT for a major telco and project manage wifi deployment for the company. I have the company internet at home, but have always struggled with getting a strong wifi signal from the basement to 2nd floor and all corners of the house 3,500 sq ft +. This product creates a near mesh type wifi network, with roaming capabilities floor to floor that is hard to beat. In addition, devices can be uniquely set to a gaming, streaming, or regular profile. I have over 30+ devices on 25 Mbps speed network and this system works better for me than my friends that have faster networks. Firmware updates are easy and available often. Profile management is available to handle children's access times. Also a Guest network is available to turn up and down to eliminate handing out your network password to friends, neighbors, or kid sleepovers.

...unfortunately outside its outstanding range, fast internet connection (most of the time I am getting every bit of my Spectrum throughput 100Mbs), elegant design and well put together app I am pulling my hair out from frustration as it often drops wifi all together! I know it is router problem as my hard wired clients don't experience this at all and with my previous Linksys router+repeater never had this issue. Replaced them with mesh system as I was getting tired of constantly switching between router and repeater. They also lacked range of this product and range is unbelievable! I have 3000 sqft home with over 2 acres of front and back yard and actually I tested (with speed test and Wifi analyzer app) my entire house and property and EVERYWHERE I have access to my wifi! My biggest problem are drop outs! They happen regardless if I am moving around my house or just streaming something in my garage and phone is on the stand in one spot within 10 ft of one of the nodes. I tried resetting and rolling back all updates from entire system and tried with its original firmware but have the same problem. Tried switching channels from auto to manual but I don't have any problems with interference with neighbors. Both my nodes are receiving signal above 90%. If I won't be able to solve this super annoying problem I will have to return it and try something else. One more thing that disappoints is USB port. It is on the back of main unit but it doesn't work. This was not mentioned in marketing information and right now I can't connect my network storage device.

Awesome coverage and speed. I live in a large, rambling antique farmhouse with brick walls and a very difficult coverage situation. I had a high quality wifi router for years which didn't even cover half the property. Recently I tried upgrading to a Ubiquiti Access Point which did provide more coverage but still not enough. Finally I purchased the Amplifi mesh system and it was the answer to my issues. I now get reception over the entire property. Besides the functionality, I love how simple this was to set up! It could not possibly be easier. You don't have to know anything about networks, the system configures itself completely when installed. It's totally plug-and-play. Finally, the little cube-shaped router is so damned cute! Almost a shame that it just sits there quietly doing its job as opposed to providing further entertainment. It's actually nice to look at versus the ungainly spider-like contraptions typical of consumer router design. The bottom line, if you have a difficult wifi coverage situation this Ubiquiti Amplifi mesh system will get the job done! The additional beneficial qualities of super-simple setup and aesthetic design are icing on the cake.

We have a long distance between our house and the shop, about an acre. I can easily connect to the wifi from the shop with no lagging, disconnecting, or buffering. We have at least 6 devices connected to it at all times and none of them seem to suffer due to the high volume. The app is great too! I love being able to see who is connected even when I'm away remotely. The app has a super convenient and user friendly interface. Very easy to set up, and updates are displayed on the routers touch screen for a one touch update!

After reviewing many different systems, I started to give this system a hard look. Little did I know, we use the same company equipment to service our internet and wifi needs at our office building. So I decided to try this home system for myself. I am so grateful I did. Here is a list on why I recommend this product to anyone. 1. Easy to install 2. Reached in areas where other access points failed 3. Could easily move plug antennas to get the best coverage. 4. App is very easy to follow, even for beginners. 5. Lots of product info online to troubleshoot any problem. I have only encountered 1 negative thing about this product. And that is that the location to ping for a speed check is fixed, thus depending on your distance to location, the box might show a slower speed, but rest assure your devices will still get the max speed of your service. Just remembered if you have fiber or anything above 1gb then until new firmware you might be capped at that. Overall I would def recommend this product to everyone.

Great performance and easy setup. I had helped two friends set theirs up first and was impressed by the mobile app and coverage so I ended up getting one for myself. Very easy to manage remotely which is especially useful if you have “technically challenged” friends who don’t want to pay an IT guy to help them with their home offices...
