I was already a fan of the Safdie Brothers (because of their film, Good Time) so I was looking forward to this one. This movie is insanely stressful in it's presentation and direction and never lets off the gas. You're following a jewel dealer (and overall horrible person) during his day to day escapes and trouble he gets into. Not for the faint of heart but deserves to be given a shot - something original in an era when sequels and comic book movies dominate, this was a refreshing breathe of hectic air.

This was my second favorite film from last year (Parasite was my #1 - so great!). The Sandie Brothers are quickly becoming two of ky favorite directors. The first film I saw of theirs was Good Time and I absolutely adored it. I went in to the theater with high hopes, expecting Uncut Gems to be out-of-this-world amazing. Even with such high expectations, the film exceeded them in every way. This is one of the best films of the last decade and one of my all time favorites. They were robbed at the Oscar's. They at least should have been nominated.

This movie truly performs a feat: it manages to take a script completely centered around an extremely unlikable character and keeps you riveted, full of suspense and eager to see him somehow succeed. Had to suspend my disbelief in Adam Sandler doing a role like this, but it was worth it. He killed in his role and by the end I was watching the movie thinking, “wow, I can’t believe this was Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison.”

Adam Sandler is great in lead. Script is excellent. Movie is above average in all respects more so; buzzes with energy. I'd expect this film will draw attention for many years to come. It is a very rewarding film that has already been re-released in blu-ray by Criterion. Thanks to Best Buy for stocking and shipping nice Slipcover Edition of this from the first Studio to pick it up and release it on Blu-ray - Lionsgate.

Excellent film that is tense, suspenseful, and anxiety-inducing throughout the film. This blu-ray comes with only one special feature:
Money on the Street: The Making of Uncut Gems (30:30)
Unfortunately there is no commentary track on the blu-ray disc, which is exclusive on iTunes, and the digital copy that comes with this blu-ray does not have iTunes as an option to redeem in. iTunes also has few more special features that are not included on this blu-ray.

Such a unique way of exploring addiction to risk and the variety of types of gambling one can do to/with their life. Sandler's performance is one of his three serious, dramatic, award-deserving roles (the others being "Punch Drunk Love" and "Reign Over Me") — not that his absurd, immature comedic roles don't often deserve award attention! This is a solid film transfer of a beautiful and tense piece of cinema.

Loved this movie. If you’re into indie, small films with some big names, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by this gem. Pun intended. In all seriousness, this film is not for everyone. The film is an anxiety ride from start to finish if you buy into the story and the characters and the decisions they ultimately make. I recommend watching “Good Time” as well if you enjoyed this film; it’s by the same directors.

You have to give Adam Sandler a lot of credit for this movie -- he comes across as low lift and the ending is a shocker to say the least but not entirely unexpected. This is a sad movie where gambling shows its evil side and Sandler deserves a lot of credit for this movie and his co-stars are good in their roles -- I really liked this move.

Adam Sandler comes back with a punch! After what I feel has been a low point for Adam Sandler movie this is a breathe of fresh air. At least whenever you can get it in! This movie was directed in the intent to constantly make you anxious and feel how his life and what he is going through throughout the entire movie and it was creative even for such a simple and recognizable premise!

Adam Sandler plays a down on his luck jeweler living on the edge, trying to balance family and a mistress, money issues from gambling debts, and goons hired to collect payment. His approach is to try to talk his way out of trouble. We are taken along on the ride with his mile-a-minute spiel and hoping that this underdog overcomes all odds and finally succeeds.

I was not a huge Adam Sandler fan. I am now. This was a superior acting effort. Was actually heartbreaking seeing his character on a life path to self destruction. It is a masterful performance. I look forward to hopefully seeing Mr. Sandler in meaningful roles such as this one. He's got the gift!!

One of my favorite films of 2019, if not the last several years. Non-stop adrenaline and keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire run time. Sandler's best role, no doubt at all (not a whole lot of competition). Engaging story/script, highly interesting characters, directorial perfection and an absolutely insane ending. 10/10.

Uncut Gems is beyond fantastic!!!! Adam Sandler gives one of the greatest performances in this movie. Gritty, fast moving parallel between the uncut gem and Adam Sandler's character in the Diamond District in New York seeking the ultimate deal in so many areas of his life.

This has become a favorite movie of mine. Well performed by the team of actors, director, cinematographer, editor and music. This movie sucks you in and rips your gut. I found myself trying to figure out why I have these changing emotions for this guy. Adam Sandler is outstanding. This is not an easy movie but I can’t stop watching it.

This movie is intense and certainly not for everyone. I didn't really like it when I first saw it in theaters, but decided to give it another chance. After a second viewing, I really enjoyed it a lot more. Its got very frenetic energy and people aren't exaggerating that its two + hours of people yelling at each other, but Adam Sandler is great in this role, and overall I found the story to be pretty compelling.

I'm a huge movie buff. I buy most movies, good, bad, awful, fun, etc. I saw this in the theaters, but man is it frantic. It's an anxiety inducing piece of movie making, but underneath is a wonderful performance from Sandler, who is never given enough credit for his dramatic talents.
It is a great movie, just, prepare yourself.

You really have to be in the right mood for a Safdie movie but man, like Good Time before it, this movie is super stylish, super intense, super stressful, and just a great watch. Absolutely not for everyone, absolutely NOT a standard dumb Adam Sandler comedy. So if you're gonna cop it don't go in thinking it's something it isn't.

Adam Sandler gives the "BEST" performance of his career playing a character in a serious role. This movie has a few twists and turns throughout and the ending will catch you TOTALLY by surprise. Wow!!! This is an amazing movie. Well acted by everyone involved. Highly recommend.
