I first saw this film years ago as a teenager. Initially, I didn’t like it but that was because I wasn’t ready for it then. Years have passed by, and after seeing many other Westerns, the film has finally clicked. It’s a film that is both the consummate Western but also Anti-Western. There’s a price to pay for being an outlaw and it isn’t pretty. A lot of legends are fabricated and killing a man isn’t as easy as it seems. It all builds up to one of the greatest gunfights in The Western genre. Highly recommend this film.

I love this movie, it’s my favorite Western. I don’t watch many Western movies, but this movie is a must watch for anyone. It can’t possibly not entertain you, the all-star lineup of actors is unbeatable and they don’t work together too often anymore. Morgan Freeman, Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, & Richard Harris, did an amazing job, and I love watching ALL of these actors in all of their movies.

This movie has always been one of my favorite westerns. Clint Eastwood has created a timeless classic movie about a retired gunman who is recruited by a young gunman to seek revenge for a bar girl who was brutally attacked by a cowboy. He seeks the help of an old friend only to face a town sheriff who is another noted gunman.
This 4K disc also comes with a newly mastered Blu-Ray disc with sharper detail and increased contrast. It is far superior to the original Warner Blu-Ray release which makes this a better deal.

Absolutely one of the best westerns ever made, and really, one of the overall best character studies ever. From the acting, to pacing, to the natural lighting, this is just as good as they get. If you haven't seen it, and you enjoy Westerns, or just good movies, see it!
It looks great in 4k. Probably as good as its ever looked. You have to consider that it was a dark, fairly flat movie to begin with, so it doesn't pop the way modern blockbusters will in 4k, but it looks and sounds great!

Had this movie "Unforgiven" on regular DVD and thought it was one of the best westerns to come out in years, I watched it on my 32" flat screen but I really didn't have a clue actually how truly incredible it was til I saw it in 4K on a 55" LG OLED TV. The story about a man trying to live down his past and wanting to change for his family but being pulled back in. The clarity and scenery were unbelievable... felt like I was in the scenes with the actors. What a great movie!! Could watch it over and over again.

Riding into the rough and rowdy town of Ultra HD Blu-ray, the now classic western arrives with a beautiful and often stunning 4K presentation, making it the best the film has ever looked. As an added bonus, fans are finally treated to a fantastic, reference-quality DTS-HD soundtrack that fans will absolutely love. Although the same set of supplements are ported over from previous Blu-ray editions, the overall package is an excellent upgrade over its HD counterpart.

'Unforgiven' might be the penultimate western movie in the flawed-cowboy-outlaw-turns-somewhat-a-good guy genre. Superbly written, superbly directed, superbly photographed, superbly acted, aces in all areas. You won't find a finer story or more complex characters than you'll see here.

I enjoy modern westerns and am a fan of Clint Eastwood but I had never actually seen this film until this year (2019). I had heard for the longest time it was the great epic. Honestly, I was not impressed. It was ok, but I've seen much better from both Eastwood and other westerns.

UNFORGIVEN was a vital rejuvenation of the western genre, one of the oldest in cinematic history. Deconstructing a mythical gunman by picking up with him in his decrepit, drunken "old age" without being pretentious or ruining the style of story it was commenting on makes this a fantastic, timeless film. And certainly a palatable western for folks who say they don't like "those kinda movies".
And Clint is basically a butt-kicking piece of dried-out beef jerky in this... Awesome.
Now it's utterly affordable & in finest form.

I may have seen Unforgiven many times in the past but never like this in 4K and HDR. The picture is so beautiful and realistic and brings the wild west and outdoors into your living room. The picture was shot on film so there is very little grain and the colors just pop in 4K and HDR. Audio is excellent also but it is not in Atmos so if you're looking for that you're not in luck. This is probably the best version to view the movie and i'll definitely be seeing it many more times.

How could anyone say anything critical about a Clint Eastwood western? He practically invented them, and this film surely surely stands as one of the best westerns ever made. It's an interesting study on who is really worse, the town Marshall or the outlaws, but that's left to the viewer to decide. Spoiler alert: I think Gene Hackman steals the show on this one, but watch it and see if you agree with me. A true classic-- made even better through 4K.

Great movie. If you like westerns and Clint Eastwood, this is for you. While not real fast moving, it has engaging characters and too notch actors (Clint, Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman). Highly recommended. 4k is top notch as well. Great looking movie surprisingly.

SURE he isn't.
Word of warning- it's a hell of a thing buying this Blu-Ray... it'll take away all the spare time you got, and all you're ever gonna have.
Well, maybe not ALL your spare time- but you will want to view this cinematic triumph again and again, just to glory in the fantastic remastering. They truly did this deconstruction of the western classic justice.

The 4-star rating is for the picture. The movie has been out a while and you probably already know what it's about, so I am not reviewing the movie content, but the 4k release. I bought it because I wanted the HDR and 4k goodies. However, the picture quality doesn't seem to live up to what I am used to seeing in a 4k upgrade, but reminds me of a standard blu ray release. The movie has a very dark ambient setting in many scenes, so it can be difficult to tell when watching those scenes. However, even in some of the brighter scenarios, I am left feeling like, "So, where is the 4k upgrade?" I am disappointed about the 4k release, but not the movie content. If you are swapping out your blu ray version for a 4k version, you might do better to just keep a hold of the blu ray version.

Excellent film, beautiful picture and realistic sound. The film is dark in many scenes so, for the best experience, view in a darkened room. Excellent detail and color; perfect for showing off your new 4K TV. Sound is powerful in spots and more "realistic" in nature than the typical Hollywood sound design. If you enjoy this film or just want to see what high-quality film in 4K looks like, definitely pick up this UHD release.

I watched both the bluray and uhd and they both have their pros and cons but both are amazing to see. The uhd has better daytime scenes but the nightime and saloon scenes can be too dark. The bluray may be the better all around experience with more visible nightime scenes but the uhd has some interesting effects the bluray doesnt such as more color, really bright lamps in dark lit rooms that pop out at you.

This story begins by showing the softer side of a harden man, with children working a pig farm. Who, by fate, is given a chance to avenge a young women who is attacked by a cowboy whose pride is spurned by one little giggle.
Money is the prized until this man's friend is murdered.
You have to watch it to see what happens next!!!!!!!
