Anyone serious about scanning as a hobby should get this scanner. Features and performance are excellent. Do take the time and read the manual to understand the functions. Performs as advertised, you are up and running in as little as 3 minutes. Only concern I had was with the battery situation. Good idea to have a second set of rechargeable batteries and charger to ensure you have a fresh set available.

Scanner is high quality in build and sound. It can be difficult to program due to its many features and options. Got a great deal by using price match.

This scanner blows everything else out the water! Its packed with features and the location based scanning is AWESOME!!! Just put in your zip code and within a minute or two, its scanning your local police, fire, ems etc....great little scanner radio! I can't wait to purchase a GPS kit for it to enable easy scanning when on vacation or visiting the in-laws in Florida. The only negative thing I can say about the radio is if your in a county/city that still uses the 400mhz UHF frequencies, get a better antenna like the one Radio Shack sells(800mhz rubber ducky#. The one Uniden supplies sometimes brings in those freqs , but sometimes not#staticky). Overall, this radio is great for the advanced hobbyist or the beginner. Don't let the manual intimidate you, read up and experiment with it but most of all......HAVE FUN with it! Great job Uniden on this one, I'm sure its gonna be selling like hotcakes!
