Used it for a long 3.5 hour trip on highways and city roads. I can say with confidence that this detector works great and was able to find the Smokey’s early in advance. I did trade this R3 in for the R7 because I wanted to have arrows letting me know the direction of the radar. If that is not important to you, then go for the R3 version for the price.

My first radar detector, super long range, it’s detected bogies well beyond my line of sight and in heavily wooded areas here in North Carolina. I would recommend this to anyone. Easy to use and keeps left foot & my wallet happy.

I have been researching which radar detector to buy for weeks and 90% of all websites rated this #1. I received it and the first thing I did was verify it had the latest firmware and red light database. I then checked the settings against Vortex Radar site https://www.vortexradar.com/2017/06/how-to-program-and-set-up-your-uniden-r1-and-r3/ to configure it. You can fine tune for your own liking. I have to say that this radar detector has phenomenal range compared to my older Bel GX65.
The only con that I have with the Uniden R3 is the max sound level setting. I like it to be very loud as I usually have my stereo up and this radar detector only goes to level 6 in volume compared to my older Bel detector that went to level 10.
Read the reviews yourself but you will not be disappointed with the Uniden R3.

This device is one of the most customizable and accurate detectors I have ever used. The GPS mark options and Signal and Speed cams are 99.5% accurate. I put 60k miles on my truck in 6 months and this was probably the single most best investment I could have made to keep me out of trouble. I would highly recommend this product to ANYONE.

Lot of bang for the buck with the R3. No problem with picking up radar and plenty of time to slow your roll. I do miss the arrows of the V1 at times, but more out of the box functionality and longer range with R3 offsets it.
Just finishing up a 1500 mile vacation trip and worked very well. A little chirpy at times with some automaker's BSM systems.

I wanted something that wouldn’t break the bank and the uniden r3 delivered. I don’t get a lot of false alerts and the range is good. I usually get a few miles notice so that I have plenty of time to adjust speed

I don't usually rate things but I will on this item. This is a really good detector, I got it after I started traveling again for work again. It has good range, is easy to use and program once you learn the settings. It has given me plenty of warning prior to encountering any police vehicles.
Only two drawbacks, one is that the suction mount will not work on a dash, it holds for a few days then releases. The second is that it does not technically have a 360 detection range with an rear indicator.

I was going to buy Escort 360 because it’s having a 360 detection but after doing some research all radar Detectors have 360 front and rear Detection only it’s a marketing ploy for a escort 360 or another version of the escort they just have a rear antenna for arrows to tell you if the cop is in front of you or behind you my advice is do your home work this Uniden r3 have great range vs Uniden r7 for 200 hundred dollars more I didn’t see justifying difference in price I just bought a brand new pickup truck I think good I have in my truck I don’t drive really fast but I like to drive about 70 miles mph even on the country highway that’s posted less speed limits

for 300$, youll never worry about a speeding ticket again if you arent stupid. just fyi tho not every patrol vehicle has their radar on 24/7 (but ALOT do) while driving so dont freak out when it isnt doing anything as they drive by. i keep advanced mode on basically all the time and youll be good.

I might be a little bit of a speed demon and this has saved me each and every time. It is quick to detect KA bands and using vortex radar I was able to set it up to where it doesn't beep at me annoyingly at the nearest CVS or 7/11. My only complaint with this radar is that sometimes the GPS doesn't connect until much after and on sometimes it just does not connect at all which makes my commute kind of annoying as I have locations with false alerts marked and saved on the system money. Regardless though, it definitely is worth the money.

Replaced an older escort.I couldn’t deal with the false alerts from blind spot monitors on the newer cars. The R3 filters out 99% of the crap while still providing great protection from real radar threats.
If you need front and rear arrows get the R7 but for the money you cant beat the R3!

This thing is awesome, catches cops two miles away, sometimes it’s so far that it just seems like a false alarm until you see the cop passing on the other side. Very quiet and limited false alarms. Overall very happy with it, love it!
