They appreciate its ability to detect radar from a distance, the arrows that indicate the direction of the threat, and the customizable features. Excellent radar detector. Easy to use out of the box or to select advanced settings. Auto memory was set after a week of driving usual route. Great accuracy and detection distance for actual positives. Didn't hurt that it was on sale at the time too.

I've been a longtime user of Escort-branded radar detectors but finally made the switch to Uniden based on the long range claims and the directional arrows. This detector reminds me of the Escort Redline in terms of distance and accuracy is quite good - I would feel confident using this on long-distance drives or in areas with multiple speedtraps. Only gripe is the odd shape of the detector and the overall look seems dated for a detector that just recently came out on the market.

The Uniden R7 is a remarkable radar detector. It receives radar at extremely long distances without an issue. The only downside I would have to say is that there is a lot of K band that you will pick up on the highway. Mostly form blind spot monitoring vehicles. If you dont mind that, and want an outright performer the R7 is for you.

Definitely a great purchase! It is a little noisier than the escorts but sitting right beside a escort 360 it was picking up sooner. Will be purchasing another for my other vehicles now.

Very loud! Accurate and fast results are important to a user of radar detectors. The R7 delivers both of those exceptionally! I’ve never been let down by this detector or even the R3 for all it matters. They have the best detection and range in the game. Give it a try!

Best radar detector on the market for the money

If you’re trying to decide on a radar this is the best radar in the market for the money. There’s nothing that really outperforms it on the highway. Updating it is a little problematic but once you figure it out it’s pretty easy. If you have an Apple computer it’s not going to update on that you have to have a PC. I had a redline 360C and while the ability to update via Bluetooth was nice, it did not outperform this at all. I drive to Florida from North Carolina and back every month and this is so consistent and gives you great situational awareness. I consistently get a 2 1/2 mile warning. Best radar detector on the market until Radenso Thea comes out, then we will see if it’s worth the big $$$ it’s going to cost. Find vortex radar on YouTube and you will see what I’m talking about. Oh one more thing, by the two year extended warranty. Absolutely worth it

With the right firmware and settings this the best bang for your buck. Really far pickup and great filter settings eliminate false alerts. The GPS lockout feature works on the newest firmware as well.

If youre looking for a radar to just throw up on your dash, this is not the one. Although this is a very capable radar detector. You just need to configure it to your preferences. Once you play around with it for a little bit, it’s easy to control. It is extremely accurate and has already helped me avoid multiple potential tickets. When used in conjunction with the Waze app, you are that much more invincible. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, so of course, continue to drive at safe speeds.

This is a great radar. The range is excellent and the customization options are plentiful. Out of the box the radar is very chatty. The user will need to go through the settings to adjust sensitivity on the different bands and set cut off points for other bands. This is not a ‘plug and play’ type of radar. Once you fo through the learning curve of setting this radar up, you’ll have a great radar with superior range.

Great long range detector, excellent display screen with informative arrows. Only issue, after upgrading from the R3, the K falses are way too much, especially in the city (even in city mode and all the filters on). I had to turn K rear mute on, quite ride volume to 0, and up the K quite ride speed to 55mph before it stopped being annoying noisy on city streets. Those settings ensure it doesn't beep for K band signals if you're going under 55mph (most city streets) which are 99.9% of the time traffic sensors, blind spot monitor sensors, door sensors from stores, etc... which are not a threat.

Best radar detector on the market hands down. Range is amazing, has paid for itself time and time again. Directional arrows are a game changer, I recommend this detector over anything else on the market for true protection.

I drive 300 mile a week for work. This guy works great. It picks up signals from miles away and tells you what the signal is. Its a little sensitive. But I like that. You get to know what channels to pay attention to. It has already paid for its self in the first week i owed it.

This thing is freaking amazing, super sensitive to all Ka bands in about 1-1.5mi on hwy and about 3mi on open road / back road. Be sure to set up your radar detectors and get the correct Ka segmentation, K Pop, K Auto Mute on your specific state! There are plenty of videos on YouTube that explain this subject very well. Out of the box, the R7 is extremely sensitive and will give you alerts on everything that uses radar

I upgraded from the R3, what an improvement. Don’t get me wrong, the R3 is still a great unit, I just wanted to try something with the directional arrows. It was a great integration and glad I made the upgrade. The range is even a little better than the R3.

This radar detector is fantastic. A little customizing of the settings to hone in on what the police are using may be needed. I recommend the Vortex Radar forums for an idea of the proper settings for your area. I do get false positives on the K band every now and then, but that's fine. There are settings to alert only when going a specific speed and filters to ignore K band alerts coming from blind spot detection on nearby cars. Firmware updates are coming frequently. Don't forget to update your radar every now and then to keep it up to spec. After a few months of use, I have fine tuned my city and highway profiles to positively alert me to danger! It's expensive, but if you have a lead foot like me... it'll pay for itself.

Best long range radar detector for the money. BSM filtering isn't as good as V1 or other competition imo, but if you're just looking to look out for cops (mostly Ka band) in the neighborhood, this is the one.

I purchased this (R7) and was able to test it from my drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco and back. It probably saved me from one or two tickets as I had ample time to slow. The screen is easy to read and the information seems very accurate. In California, I think the law states one can not mount anything except a GPS device on the lower left corner of your windshield. Thus I purchased a sticky rubber mat to place on my dash that kept the detector from moving. I thought this might hinder the performance but it seems to work just fine. I tried the Escort Max 360c as well. Because the heat vents are on the bottom of that unit, I was afraid it might overheat on longer drives. I think the 360c gave fewer false alerts but the R7 is easier to read and it save me from two potential tickets which probably paid for the unit on the first day of use.
